CASE j Countv Judge No. 6124 Feb. 7, 14. 21, 13 Obituary Arthur Geschke AVOCA (Special) Funeral services were held at Tonsing Mortuary in Syracuse Friday for Arthur Geschke, 58, who died Wednesday at his home of a heart ailment. He was born Feb. 3, 1905, son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Geschke, at Unadilla. He was married to Mammie Ahrens at North Branch Church, Avoca. The couple made their home on farms near Syracuse, Weep ing Water and PlatLimouth. He was a member of North Branch Church until transfer ring his membership to a Platts mouth Church. Surviving is his wife, Mammie; son, Maynard, Avoca; four grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. John Tipton, Rosalie; Mrs. Chriss Jen sen, Craig; brother, Oscar, Plattsmouth. He retired and moved to Syra cuse March 1962 when hb health failed. Pallbearers from Avoca were Elmer Hallstrom. Fritz Brock hoff and Otto Dankleff. The secretary filled out the canary sheet and the program for the coming year was plan ned. Next meeting will be at Wayne Bockleman's March 9, 1963 at 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Dreamer served lunch. Emily Oonzales was given a welcome home Sunday when her sisters came for the day. They are Ruth Moaning. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rudolph and Mr .and Mrs. J. F. Mills. The Dale Nicholson's have moved into the Backemeyer property. Mr. and Mrs. 81 Schlaphof and Susan were Sunday dinner guests of the Harmon Millers in Lincoln. The Glen Miller's of Elmwood were guest also. The dinner was in honor of the birth days of Joyce Miller and Mrs. Glen Miller. The Frank Mills family came Saturday and surprised the home folks. They remained over night, returning to Sutton on Sunday afternoon. Ted Stratton underwent sur gery at Veterans Hospital in Lin coln, this past week. He Is re cuperating satisfactorily. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stock called on the William Winklers in Lincoln Saturday afternoon. They found Lea showing im provement from her recent stroke. She Is able to do a num ber of things about the house now. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Streich have gone to California visiting relatives and doing some sight seeing. The Rich Stocks entertained the following lor dinner Sunday: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stock, the Arlo Stock family, the LeRau Gaebel family and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Vogeler of Louisvllie. Sev eral members in the family cir cle celebrated birthdays. Mr. and Mrs. August Rieke have gone to Phoenix, Ariz., to spend some time in the warm sunshine. The J. F. Mills were hosts to their pinochle club Saturday evening. Additional guests were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mills of i Sutton. There were four tables of players. High score winners ; were Harry Bucholz and Hallie Mills; low winners were De Loris Rieke and Stuart Mills; traveling prize went to Laueflce Rase. Lunch was served after the games. Revenues Up Results of operations of The Lincoln Telephone and Tele graph Company were reported Feb. 5 at the annual stockhold ers meeting held at Lincoln. President Thomas C. Woods, Jr. said operating revenues for 1962 were $16,124,938. an in crease of 5.36 over 1961. Oper ating expenses, excluding taxes, were $10,620,887, an Increase of 6.97. Federal, state and local taxes for 1962 were $2,695,374. Total plant facilities in serv ice at year-end had a value of $63,695,451, Woods said. This is a net increase of $4,701,790 over 1961. In addition, plant under construction amounted to $519, 463. Operating Income available for dividends was reported by Controller Bruce J. Slevers to be $1,741,521 last year, an Increase of $48,387 over 1961. Earnings per share of common stock out standing at year-end 1962 were $4.95 compared with $4.79 at year-end 1961. Vice-President Merle M. Hale reported a net gain of 4,694 tele phones during the year bringing the total at year-end to 158,988. Long distance calls totaled 6, 990,338, an increase of 6.5. 65 of the 126 exchanges are now equipped for Direct Distance Dialing and 92 of the tele phones are dial operated. Dial conversations were com pleted at Weeping Water, York, Alexandria. Snick ley, To bias and Guide Rock, and dial equipment wa3 replaced at Table hock and Garland. The company's first complete under ground distribution system was installed at Shlckley for both rural and long distance lines. This Involved 400,000 feet of underground wire and 30,000 feet of "plowed-ln" cable and will eliminate service interruptions resulting from wind and sleet storms. Additional switchboard posi tions were added at Lincoln, Hastings and Plattsmouth and additions to dial central office equipment were made at Lin coln, Ashland, Waverly, Syra cuse and Milford. 133 toll cir cuits were added during the year. Additions to exchange buildings, preparatory to dial installations, were . begun at Geneva and Nebraska City. A new Lincoln-Hastings micro wave system was cut into serv ice In August with 56 channels in service. A Uncoln-Oeneva .ays tern with 22 channels is also nearlng completion. The com pany also has operating micro wave systems between Lincoln, Hebron, Wahoo and David City. Several new services were added. These include Wide Area Telephone Service (WATS) which provides statewide (or up to nationwide) long distance service at a flat monthly rate; dial TWX service by which tele typewriters may be intercon nected through the nationwide direct distance dialing system; data line teletypewriter service for data transmission at high speeds; and personal paging service by which individuals may receive messages from telephones on small radio re ceivers carried on the person.
