Ruling over Kornland with Queen (Carolyn Is King John Jo seph Cloidt, Jr., son of Platts mouth natives. He was born July 5, 1919 in Plattsmouth, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cloidt, Sr. He has two sLsters, Mrs. A. J. Ulrich, who resides on a farm near Louisville and Mrs. A. E. Chovanec of Au rora, Colo. In 1947 King John married Winifred Evans of Kenesaw. Neb., who taught for several years in the Plattsmouth School System. They have three chil dren, John J. Cloidt III, 12. Mon ica, 11 and Jeffrey, 7. He Ls a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. HLs maternal grandparents migrated here from Ohio in 1880; his paternal grandparents came here from Germany by way of Pennsylvania, also in 1880. King John's father was em ployed by the Burlington Rail road until he entered the lumber business in Plattsmouth and Louisville with his brother Aug gust Cloidt. In 1934 he estab lished Cloidt Service Station in which he was active until retire ment. John Cloidt Sr. served as City Cleric under Mayor Sattler; headed the Civil Defense here In World War II. For the past ten years he has served on the Board of Public Works of this city. Both Mr. and Mrs. Cloidt, Sr. have been prominent in music circles throughout the years. King John attended St. John's Parochial School and graduated from Plattsmouth High School. He attended Creighton Univer sity in Omaha until called into the Armed Services in 1942. After a year's service in the Air Corps, he was commissioned 2nd Lt. of Infantry, in 1943; served In the European Theater of Operations. He holds the Bronze Star Medal for Valor with Oak Leaf Cluster. He returned to civilian life in 1946 and entered business. He is past director and vice president of the Lions Club and the Cham ber of Commerce. He is a mem ber of the American Legion, the VFW, the Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department and Director of the Plattsmouth Development Corporation. He has served two terms on the Plattsmouth City School Beard and is Commander of Company H 355th Regiment f-nmo In W w ree rvice (DCT) United States Army Re serve. King John received his sceptor from the retiring King "Dutch" Rikli of Murdock and retiring Queen Jane Fauquet PlatUs mouth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fauquet, gave her throne to Queen Carolyn. The King's crownbearer was Jeffrey Scanlan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Scanlan of this city. The Queen's flower girls were representatives of each first grade cla.ss in Plattsmouth. Princesses of 1962 Kornland were Queen Candidates along with Miss Vinduska. They were nominated by various organiza tions in the Cass County area. The new queen was selected by secret committee and her Ident ity was not revealed until Thurs day night. The theme of this year's Karn ival was "Kornland 's Gala Fes tival," the King Korn Klub was guided by President Wayne Schneider and his board of di rectors and committee members. The Koronation was ably plan ned and handled by the Mrs. Jaycees, assisted in the setting by the Women's Division of the Chamber of Commerce. With Walter Smith as emcee, the annual King Korn Karnival was officially opened with the Koronation at hand. The night was cool and balmy, but In spite of this several thousand persons, witnessed the Koronation. A Plattsmouth High School Band group directed by Allen Kreglo played preceding the cremony and during the korona tion entertainment. Presentation of colors was by Explorer Scouts, Troop 339, Biil Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Thompson; Ron Richards, son of Mrs. Daisy Richards; Gary French son of Mrs. Arn old French and Terry Wiles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Wiles. They also presented the King Korn Flag, designed and con structed by a committee under the direction of Mrs. Earl Carr, to the King Korn Klub. Darrell Brinkoff, Delbert Peters and Larry Schmidt were groomsmen. Jim DeFreece was junior groomsman. The bride appeared In a floor length gown fashioned of chan tilly lace and nylon tulle. The contoured molded lace basque was styled with a cameo neck line traced with seed pearls and fitted long sleeves coming to points at the wrist. The Voluminous skirt featur ed a scalloped Insertion of lace with medallions of tulle which continued to the right of the hem and featured seven alter nating cascades of ruffles of lace and tulle in the back. A crown of pearls held the Illusion net veil. The cascade bouquet carried by the bride was of feathered carnations and white roses centered with an orchid. Ushers were Kenneth Brink off, Keith Brinkoff, Donald De Freece and Melvin De Freece. Mrs. Duane Ostrander, Lin coln, registered the guests and Mmes.
