Her nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Stein of Lincoln had a son Aug. 7. He was named Kirk Lee. Wayne Ahl of South Gate, Calif., was a Thursday afternoon caller at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Ingram. Mrs. James Sawyer and chil dren were Tuesday guests of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Sawyer and family In Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Puis and Shelley were hosts to a birth day party honoring his mother, Mrs. Earl Puis. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Dunn of Louisville and their son, William Dunn of Omaha, attended Uni versity summer commencement jexercises, Mrs. William Dunn received her Master's Degree. She is a history teacher at West side High School and Dunn is principal of Sunset Elementary School in Omaha. The William Dunns are vacationing for two weeks in Minnesota. Mrs. Rose Bean of Omaha, aunt of Mrs. Earl Puis of Man ley, and Mrs. Kenneth Roeber of Murdock, entered Doctors Hospital in Omaha Sunday and underwent surgery Wednesday. Mrs. Puis and Mrs. Roeber vis ited her Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schroeder and Doris of Plattsmouth and Mrs. Tillie Hopp of Louisville returned home Tuesday after spending a week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schroeder Jr. and dvjojca Mrs. Henry Maseman A one o'clock luncheon was held at the Robert Hallstrom home Wednesday honoring Mrs. Elvin Emshoff on her birthday. The Avoca community was struck by large hail south and west of town Wednesday morn ing about 5 o'clock. In several spots, fields were reduced to stubble and in others the leav es were stripped. The strip was several miles wide and long. Mr. and Mrs. John Mohr and son of Beatrice and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mohr and son of Syracuse were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. John Mohr. Wm. Bergstraesser of Talla hassee, Fla., visited his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Silas Ev erett, Thursday evening.
