Hayes, and granddaughter Jean, also Mi.ss Sharon Dunlap, State YTC member. Rev. and Mrs. Willard Scott, pastor of First Methodist Church, their daughter Mrs. Jean Varilek and daughter Tam mle. The members held their regu lar bu.sine.ss meeting in the aft ernoon. The officers of the pre vious year were re-elected. Class of 1952 Reunion-Picnic In Garfield Park The Class of 1952 held a re union in Garfield Park Aug. 12 with 29 members and their fam ilies present. The day began with a nirnin dinner which was followed by a pleasant time visiting and re calling school clays. Letters from those who could not attend were read by the members, and those present gave a brief account of what their activities had been in the past ten years. It was proposed and voted up on that another reunion be held in five years. Each member was asked to kee"p this reunion In mind, and to make special plans to attend. Carol Ann Spangler Carol Spangler Joins Marines Women's Crops Carol Ann Spangler, 18, dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester William Spangler of 1419 Ave nue C enlisted in the United Marine Corps for a period of three years. She is a 1961 graduate of Plattsmouth High, a member of St. Paul's Evangelical and Re formed Church and a member of the Eagles Auxiliary. Recruit training will be for a period of nine weeks at Parris Island, South Carolina. She enlisted under the 120 day delay program and will leave for recruit training Oct. 18. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Gene Smith and family at La Puente; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rice and daughter of Anaheim; Mollie Jane Rice at Long Beach; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ritcher and family, Colton; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rice, Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Winters and son, Ruth Burke, Charles B'urke, Jr., Mo desto. Also Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hou sladen and Marty, Santa Rosa, Calif. Other highlights of their trip were Disneyland, KnottsBerry Farm, a trip to the ocean. They spent three days in Yo semite National Park, drove through Estes Park in Colorado, a day at Trenton Dam and Har lan County Dam. Couple Wed 50 Years Aug. 21 Mr. and Mrs. Brooks were will celebrate their 50th Wed ding Anniversary Aug. 21 at Battle Lake, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. Del Brooks of Indianapolis, Ind., who were the couple's attendants will be at Battle Lake to help the honorees celebrate. The men are brothers. Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Brooks married in the Methodist Church, Plattsmouth. He is a former teacher, super intendent and principal of the Plattsmouth Schools. Prior to his post as principal here, he was President of the Chadron State Teachers College. Mr. and Mrs. George Lathrope and Ellen Beckner of Nebraska City were Wednesday guests of Mrs. Edith Thiele. The Plattsmouth couple flew to Amherst by jet. Dr. Tucker teaches at the University of Massachusetts. Mr. and Mrs. Knorr leave this week for their summer home on Sandas Beach, Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs. Clem Woster and daughters were recent house guests of their daughter and family, Dr. and Mrs. Jerry Col ling at Carlsbad, Calif. They spent five weeks vacationing. Dr. Colling along with doctor friends have recently opened a Medical Center at Oceanside, Calif. Jimmy Utterback Marks 5th Birthday S-Sgt. and Mrs. James Utter back gave a party Wednesday afternoon in honor of their son's fifth birthday. Jimmy's cake was green dec orated with a sheriff's bddge done in yellow. His name was written in the center. Throughout the afternoon the children were entertained with games. Prizes went to Max and Llsi Perrusquia, Mickey Snell and Janelle Utterback. Those attending and assist ing Mrs. Utterback were Mrs. Jose Perrusquia, Lisi, Max and Marc, Judy Bryant, Mrs. Robert Shafer, Jimmy and Johnny, Ed and William Rice, Mrs. William Molck, Mickey Snell, Patty and Debbie Gochenour, Jimmy Sands, Eddie and Danny Dillon and Annette and Janelle Utterback. Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Carmack, and daughter Kristen Lynn of Ridgewood, N. J. visited last week with Mr. Carmack's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Car mack. On their return to New Jersey, they will stop and visit with Mrs. Carmack's relatives in Ames and Nevada, Iowa, and also with friends in Chicago where they formerly lived. Terri Ann Adkins Birthday Honoree Terri Ann Adkins was honored Wednesday night at a first birthday party at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Austin. Also present were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Adkins; uncles, Louis and Harvey Aus tin; aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Moulas; and cousin, Ted Moulas. She received several gifts. Ice cream and birthday cake were served. 56th Annual Wiles Reunion Attracts 82 The 56th annual Wiles reunion was held Sunday, Aug. 12, at Garfield Park in Plattsmouth; 82 relatives attended from Ne braska City, Ashland, Louisville, Omaha, Lincoln and Glen wood and Waterloo, Iowa. Dinner was served from a large table filled with a variety of food. They were at Cleveland at the Manger Hotel where Mr. O'Donnell at tended the Reunion of the 339th Infantry Aug. 10-12. Two hundred soldiers from the regiment and their wives at tended. One of the highlights of the convention for Sally Ann and Mrs. O'Donnell was a TV show where Sally Ann talked with Bob Feller and got his autograph. Last weekend visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Clem Woster and dau ghters were Mrs. Woster's cou sins, Mr. and Mrs. George Car roll and daughter Susan of Sup erior. The Carrolls were enroute to Rochester, Minn., to visit an other daughter who graduates at St. Mary's Hospital. 53 Attend Speck Family Reunion A family reunion was held at the Ben Speck home Sunday. There were 58 attending. The fellowship group pre viously met in discussion groups to evaluate the church and this was the theme for the service. Couple Honored On 60th Wedding Date On Sunday, Aug. 12, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Johns celehratert their 60th Wedding Anniversary at uie nome oi tneir daughteer Mrs. Ralph Wehrbein. A buffet dinner was served at noon to 30 guests. Four of the couple's five chil dren were present: Mrs. A. R Murdoch, Wendell Johns, Ro bert Johns, and Mrs. Ralph Wehrbein. One son, Major Rich ard Johns of Hawaii, was unable to attend. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Spore and Miss Ruth Schell came from Lincoln. Both Mrs. Spore and Miss Schell were present at the wedding of their sister 60 years ago at York. Others present beside the hosts, Mr. Ralph Wehrbein and sons, Dan, Ted, and Steve, were Mrs. Roger Wehrbein and Miss Marlys Lane, of Plattsmouth; Mrs. Wendell Johns and Mary Lee of Lawrence, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Loren Janzen of Wich ita, Kansas; Rev. A. R. Mur- docn of Pleasanton; Mrs. Ro bert Johns, Nancy and Billy, and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Johns, all of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Meradith and Mrs. Carrie Johns of York; and Mr. and Mrs. Rex Bailey of McCool Junction.' Friends also dropped in dur ing the afternoon to extend congratulations. 4-H NEWS ; Tractor Savers 4-H Club held a'meeting Aug. 8 at the home of Steve Grosshans at 8 p.m. Roll call was to have books completed. August 27 and 28 are the dates set for a trip to Kansas City. Plans on what to see there are not definite. Exhibits at the County Fair are being planned. Four tractor drivers in the Tractor Driving Contest are being entered in the event. ' Next meeting will be at Rich ard Haecke's, Aug. 30, at 8. Steve Wehrbein, reporter. Daughter , Mr. and Mrs. John Jochim of Nehawka are the parents of a girl born August 5, at the Clark son hospital in Omaha. She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and has been named Kay Marie. Pa ternal grandmother is Mrs. Ma tilda Jochim of Omaha and the maternal grandmother; Mrs. E. J. Boedeker of Weeping Water. The baby has a brother, Ted, and a sister, Alice. Son Mr. and Mrs. John Carper are parents of a son, Gregory Alan, born July 28. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs. Lucian Carper of Modesto, Calif.; Ray Story, Plattsmouth and Mrs. Dorothy Story, Lincoln.
