In that year they i launched the 30,000 Movement in this country. The "30,000 Move-; merit" was an attempt to start as many Southern Baptist churches in the decade 1954 1964, as it had started in the ; prior 140 years of its existence. ! So for the past eight years , Southern Baptists have been rapidly establishing churches, all across the nation and partic-, ularly in the northern half of the United States, where before there were almost no Southern Baptist Churches. The Plattsmouth Baptist; Church is one of those "30,000" new churches which the conven- j tion hopes to have established by 1964. This will bring the total i number of Southern Baptist : Churches in America to over 50, 000 if the campaign is success ful.. Six years ago there was no Southern Baptist Church in Ne- i braska; today there are 18, and! another will likely soon be j started at York. Southern Baptis's Are Amer ica's largest Baptist convention with a membership of over 10, 000,000, as compared with 2, 000,000 in the American Baptist Convention and 150,000 in the Regular Baptist Convention. The people of the Plattsmouth Baptist Church hold membership in mis great convention, sup porting not only its missionary program, but all of its great hos pitals, Universities, Seminaries, Orphanages, etc. In fact, the Plattsmouth Ban- tist Church not only supports the Southern Baptist Convention, but it also receives support from the I convention. The funds from which the building was built were provided by the Home Mis sion Board of the Southern Bap tist Convention. Although the building was built by the I. L. Hill Construction Co. of Plattsmouth, the people are doing all of the finish work on the church, led by Max Cameron, 1624 Thayer St., who is the Chairman of the building committee. Mrs. Florence Oldham Wolt man of Houston, Tex., gave the equipment for the building which consisted of 164 theater seats, 100 folding chairs for the Junior Intermediate Department, and 30 folding chairs for the begin ner department of the Sunday School. The Plattsmouth State Bank donated most of the building's interior doors. There have been many other donations too nu merous to mention of which the Church is extremely thankful. The members hope to dedicate the building as soon as they have completed the finish work.
