Project ADVENT is the Department of Defense re search and development program to determine the feasibility of a reliable military communi cation system for relaying messages anywhere in the world through satellites hovering in the 22,300-milt-high stationary orbit above the equator. The 60-foot parabolic antenna reflector (insert, top left), weighing nine tons, recently was placed atop the sturdy pedestal and rotation-elevation mount (foreground at right). Standing 102-feet overall, the antenna will com municate with and track military ADVENT satellites. Sylvania Electric Products, Inc. is prime contractor of antenna development and site construction for the U. S. Army Signal Research and Development Laboratory. Mr. and Mrs. George Rouse and Larry attended a 6:30 dinner at the Capital Hotel Saturday and Mrs. Arthur Pershing, Mrs. I evening honoring the members Nehawka Co-op Votes Officers for Year NEHAWKA (Special) Merle Rogers, Ernest Hild and Elmer Ross were elected to the board of directors at the recent meet ing of the Farmers Co-op Oil Company. The retiring directors were Bill Ross, George Rieke and Mel Todd Jr. They were elected by the stockholders. Jack Thorpe of Lincoln was the speaker and gave the audi tor's report. Two door prizes were won by Dwight Cook, a ladies wrist watch, and Ted Brannon, an electric barbecue plate. The meeting was held at the auditor ium. Ak-Sar-Ben Feeders Elect Officers UNION (Special) The Ak-Sar-Ben.Feeders 4-H Club met at the Harold Rice home Jan. 22. Officers for the year were elected as follows: president. Gene Noell; vice president, Allen Worthan; secretary, Sue Schlich- temeier; and reporter, Karen Hoback. Leader elected for the coming year is- Harold Rice and the as sistant leader is Stuart Schlich temeier. Other 'members are Cathy Rice, Paul Rice, Richard Worth an, Robert Todd and Don Schlichtemeier. Members talked about the coming meetings and where they would be held. Robert Kennedy, Attorney-General and brothei- of the Presi dent: "Even at cabinet meetings, when I address him as Mr. President, he still calls me Bobby." Kathy Stine has also had flu and has had to miss some school. Frank Anderson also a flu victim the past week was able to go back to wurk as the custodian of Union School, this week. Mr. and Mrs. John McQuin and family of Bellevue were dinner guests of Mrs. Sarah Rich and daughters last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Lein and two sons of Gretna, Nrbr.. we.e weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Paasch and family. They also attended morning church services, with Mrs. Lein's par ents at the Methodist Church. 4 More Lessons On Civil Defense ELM WOOD (Special) There are to be four more lessons on Civil Defense held at the school every Thursday beginning Feb. 15. Following the exercises which took place at 10 a.m. at Persh ing Auditorium, the Knaups and Mr. and Mrs. Poppe had dinner together.
