Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Anderson enjoyed Christmas Day at the home of her .sister, Mrs. Martha Springer, at Lincoln. On the Sat urday evening before Christmas, a family dinner was enjoyed at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anderson and family at Lincoln, a son Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Anderson Jr., son Scott of Lincoln, were al.so pre sent. On New Year's Day, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Anderson Jr. and Scott, of Lincoln, were dinner guests at his parent's home, the C. G. Anderson's. Mr. and Mrs. John Fischer and Kathy E. spent the New Year weekend at the home of thrir son, Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Fischer and family, at Loup City, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Claud Franzen of Arcadia, called to visit the Eagle folks, on Saturday evening. Christmas Day, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bird and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lester L. Bird and family and Mr. and Mr3. Larry Walberg of Lincoln, were dinner guests at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bird. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Froh lich, called at the home of his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Frohlich, Monday morning at Lincoln, to visit his mother, at the son's home, enroute to her sister and family's home (the Dr. and Mrs. James Lake's) at Lincoln, on Christmas Day. Mrs. Lena Butt, spent the Christmas weekend at the home of her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Emile Glasers at Lin coln and returned to the Glaser home on the following Saturday evening to observe her grand daughter's birthday Patty Gla ser, returning home, Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Spatz, of Plainview Nebr., and Mr. and Mrs. Rhyland Forrester of Lin coln, enjoyed last Wednesday at the home of the Mme's sister, Mrs. Lena Butt, at Eagle. The Spatz's had come to Lincoln, to attend the funeral services, for his sister-in-law on last Tuesday afternoon at Lincoln. Guests during the Holidays at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Cloyd, were her daughter, Miss Marian Oslon, nurse, from Iowa City, Iowa, and her visjting friends, Capt. Frances Walker Reg. Nurse and Toshir Watanade al?o from Iowa City. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Walberg of Lincoln spent New Year's Day at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Year's Day at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Walberg and three daughters. Mr. and Mrs. B. H. McConnel, of Lincoln, visited at the home of their daughter and family, the Leonard Corrs' on Christmas Day. The Evening Eagles Extension Club members, met at the home of Mrs. Pat Donlan for their Christmas Party and the Decem ber regular meeting. An ex change of gifts was enjoyed dur ing the evening and following the business meeting. Mr. and Mrs. John Halvorsen of Palmyra, Nebr., spent last Sunday evening at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Halvorsen and family. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Halvor sen and family and her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Rod erick Swartz enjoyed Christmas Day at the home of .the Mme's. brother, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Coat man and daughter at Fairbury, Nebr. Other relatives were also present including the parents, the Sterling Coatman's of Fair- bury. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Morris were supper guests at the home of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Wil bur Stall and family, last Sun day evening. Eagle-Alvo Schools opened the doors Tuesday morning after having the Christmas vacation for a week, and on New Year's Day. Kenny Forrest, of Wolf Lake, Illinois and formerly of Eagle, was an overnite guest at the home cf Milton Schmidt at lat ter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don ald Schmidt during the school va cation. Kenny is living with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Ballance on a farm near Wolf Lake. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Rodaway formerly of Eagle reside in Colorado. Mr. and Mrs. Don Schmidt and family attended a family dinner at the home of her sister, and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hall's, near Elmwood, on Christ mas Day. The "Camp Creek" Club mem bers meet on Tuesday, Jan. 9th for their belated Christmas luncheon at the home of Mrs. John Fischer. Each member is asked to bring an attractive or unique Christmas suggestion and a New Year's Resolution for 1962! Approximately thirty of the Scattergood relatives enjoyed a New Year's Day family basket dinner at the Charles Scatter good home Monday, including the Julius Morrison's, Harry West's, and Irene Christensen's families, of Lincoln, Eldon Sor ensen family of Ruskin, and Wm. Doran family of Hebron, were those present. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Caddy and son, spent Christmas Eve, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Holka, near Alvo. A son, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Holka and family, of near Raymond, Nebr., were also present for the family dinner. The WSCS meeting will meet Green Stamps. DRUGS! at the Eagle Methodist Church Wednesday aftrenoon at l:3fi with Mmes. Eva Scattergood and Grace Root listed as co-hostesses and Mmes. Anna Root and Ella Fischer the Devotions and Les son. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Umland and family of Lincoln, spent New Year's evening at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Umland. Mr. and Mrs. Harold French and family were dinner guests, at' the home of his-in-law Mrs. Dorothy Franch and family, at Plattsmouth last Sunday. The "O.S.C." club members meet at-the home of Mrs. Laura West, on next Thursday after noon, Jan. 11th. The club is a social club and enjoy the after noon with entertainment and neighborhood visit. The "Eagle Lion's club are sponsoring the Summer baseball receration activities and have planned a Pancake Field for the public on Saturday eve. Jan. id, 1962. The nroceeds will go for the baseball porgram to be act ivated, this summer. Mr. and Mrs. William Trumble visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Peterson at Omaha on Monday. Mr. Peterson under went surgery, on Tuesday morn ing 2nd at a Omaha Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Chidester of Firth, Nebr., spent New Years Day at the home of former neig hbors and friends, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Ketelhut, last Monday. Larry Walberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Walberg, left for a term in the army and will be stationed at Camp Carson, Col orado for his basic training. Mrs. Walberg will remain at home for a few weeks after which, plans to join her husband, for his per manent assignment. Mrs. Bettie Underwood, spent a few days during the Christmas Holidays, at the home of her sister and husband Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Prlessing at Lincoln. On New Year's Day the latter were guests at the home of Mrs. Un derwood, also Mr. and Mrs. Art hur Adams spent the day at the Underwood home, in Eagle. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reynold son and family of Eagle and Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Reynoldson and son of Lincoln were dinner guests at the Messers' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Reynoldson for the Holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Clairmont Mil ler of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lewis of Mitchell, South Dakota visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Fischer, re cently. The guests were a ne phew and niece of Mr. Fischer. Mrs, Charles Scattergood has been assisting at the Eagle Post Office for a couple hours each morning during the week. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Umland were hosts for a dinner at their home Thursday evening. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rudolph of Malcolm, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Stoll of Nehawka, Nebr., both couples former Eagle resi dents, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Um land of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. John Fischer and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Scattergood of Eagle, hon oring the latter's birthday. The Eagle Methodist Educat ion Commission members are planning a meeting for Tuesday evening Jan. 9th, at 7:30 p.m. at the Methodist parsonage. Joyful Bluebirds The Joyful Bluebirds met at the home of their leader, Mrs. Gall, Nov. 16. They elected offi cers: Cheryl Wright, president; Carol Lockhart, vice president; secretary, Debra Gold; treas urer, Reva McShane; scribe, Meridee Gall; phone committee, Sally Highfield, Vicki Sutton; game committee, Sheri Hopkins, Kathy Gold, Mary Bradley. The girls started their moth ers' Christmas gifts. Sally High field was hostess. Nov. 23, they finished their mothers' gifts and started on their dads' Christmas gifts. Sheri Hopkins was hostess. Nov. 30 the girls finished their fathers' Christmas gifts and played games. Carol Lockhart was hostess. Dec. 7 the Bluebirds made poinsettias out of milkweed pods. They planned a party for their mothers and made invitations. Reva McShane was hostess. Dec. 14, Mothers were guests at the meeting. The girls gave their mothers their Christmas gifts which were napkin holders made from clothespins. They made silhouettes for their fa thers. Punch and cookies were served. Meridee Gall, scribe. SHELTERS FOR NEWLYWEDS Denver Anthropologist Mar garet Mead urges bombproof shelters for the world's newly weds to assure continuance of the human race in the event of nuclear war. Dr. Mead, of the American Museum of Natural History, of fered this suggestion to the one hundred and twenty-eighth meet ing of the American Association of the Advancement of Science recently. It is of the Seybolds' new home at 3211 Frances Ave., LaCrescenta, Calif. The mountains to the north of the house are the Sierra Madres. Rev. Seybold retired from the ministry last fall after nine years at St. Paul's. Weeping Water News Mrs. Edward Van Horn Phone252-W Ed Smith of Lincoln called Mr. and Mrs. George Bates Monday evening to let them know they had returned home from California where they had visited with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Smith and family. Mrs. Neil Munkres attended a Civil Air Patrol meeting on Tuesday- evening at the Civil Air Patrol Headquarters in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Munkrei entertained at a birthday party in honor of Mr. Munkres at Domingo Inn. There were twen ty guests present for the dinner and afterward they all went to the Munkres home. Mike Longwell and Mrs. Min nie Sammons of Nebraska City were Wednesday dinner and supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Bates. In the afternoon they attended funeral services for Mrs. Will Shipley at the Caldwell-Linder Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. They later call ed on Mr. and Mrs. George Plat zer. Mr. and Mrs. Art Hansen of Waverly were Monday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Critser. Afternoon guests were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kassube. Mr. and Mrs. William Jame son were Monday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jame son and family. Mrs. Robert Jewell and Mrs. Robert Meyers of Carpentsville, Illinois were Wednesday morn ing guests of Mrs. Frank Pace. ..Mr. and Mrs. Eanos Plunkett and George entertained at a' post-Christmas dinner on Mon- j day. Their son and his family of Riverside, California came during the New Year's holidays. They are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Plunkett and three children. Others for the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wooge and family of Hallam, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kearns and Billy of Lin coln, Dorothy and' Ellen Plun kett of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Sandra Taylor of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Plunkett enjoyed having their nine grandchildren home for the first time together. A gift exchange was held along with a delicious dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wooge and children of Hallam called on Mr. and Mrs. Victor Plunkett and Wendell and Mrs. Dean Fulton and boys Monday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Stratton en joyed a pheasant dinner on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ken neth Stratton and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Cooper and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gary 'Van Horn and girls of Springfield and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Der by and family of Millard were Christmas day guests of Mr. and Mrs. Oren Derby and family of Louisville. Larry Read of Louis ville was also a guest. Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Cooper and Gary of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Urwin and Alan were Sunday dinner and supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cooper. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Holscher of Cook and Verna Jean Holscher of Madison, Wisconsin were Tuesday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Freeman and family.
