Mrs. Kenneth Todd. Mrs Towner Livingston and Rev. Joe Hai r were in Auburn Sunday at tending a Church school curricu la m program. Mrs. Hob Spangler is home and reports to be getting along fine, although she is quite weak but is able to be up and around. Mrs. Forrest Bcil and family visited her Sunday and Mrs. Willard Withans and Mrs. Lcona George called Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martin and family were Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Howard 1 lessen of Nehawka. Kev. and Mrs. Joe Barr and daughters were weekend guests ot Rev. Barr's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Barr of Liberty. Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sayers were honored on their 25th weding anniversary at Caniglias Steak house, by their children. Those attending: Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Sayes, Mr. and Mrs. Havley Sayers, Charles Say crs and Dana Hoschar. Leann Sayers, only grandchild visited with her grandparents Mr. and Mrs Dan Hoschar. Judy Mills spent the weekend at home and brought a friend with her, Beverly Compton of Sioux City, la., she is also a stu dent at Wayne State Teachers College. Helen and Lucille Kupke went home with their sister Margaret who lives in Denver, Colo., they will make their home there in the future, their mother having passed away recently. The Ladies Aid of the Mur dock Church held their Sept. meeting last Thursday in the church parlors. Arnold Schlie fert and wife of Manley showed color slides of their iris and their other garden flowers. Mrs. Leo Rikli was chairman of the lunch committee. Others on the serving committee were, Mrs. Verna Wilkin, Ruth Rikli, Hallie Mills, Blanche Klemme and Ruth Cline. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Mills ac companied Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Ritter of Bennet to Omaha re cently on the new interstate highway, visited a shopping center and traveled north of O m aha to see the Mormon Bridge as well as the Mormon Cemetery near the bridge. Union Items Mrs. L. C. Todd Phone 263-2440 Mr. and Mrs. Nebraska City Peter's parents Joe Banning of Carl Peters of honored Mrs. Mr. and Mrs. Union, on their 56th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 10th at their home. Guests for dinner were: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Banning and also Lu cian, Mrs. Elsie Porter, Mrs. John Banning of Alvo, and Miss Edna Wright of Nebraska City. Mrs. Sarah Rich and daugh ters Iola and Irene were in Bellevue last Saturday where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. John McQuin and family. Little Johnny was celebrating his seventh birthday that day. They, later in the evening, drove to Underwood. Iowa where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Don Mc Quin and family. They attended church on Sunday with the fam ily and drove home late Sunday afternoon. Guests recently of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Zorn were: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reed and family ol Grand Island, also Lee and Les lie Wheeler, grandchildren of the Zorns. On Sunday the Zorns at tended a family reunion at the City Park at Falls City. Rev. and Mrs. Tim Hollingcr of Pawnee City were guests last Monday of Rev. and Mrs. David Bloomquist and family. Mrs. Sarah Rich was in Platts mouth last Monday forenoon. Mrs. Tom Johnson of Nehawka substituted for her in her school room of the third, fourth and fifth grades. Godwins Home From Auto Trip Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Godwin returned Saturday evening from Laramie, Wyo., visiting with Mrs. Gladys Heneger. They also visited at Gering, Nebr., with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Warner and stopped at Alliance, Nebr.. to see Mr. and Mrs. Ottc Lushinsky. The Plattsmouth couple alsc enjoyed a visit at Pine Blulfs. Wyo.. at the C. W. Palm home They made the trip by car. Open house was held Sunday at the CU'.-istian chtyrch at Weeping Water to celebrate the 50th an niversary of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Shrader of Ne hawka. Appoximately GOO guests were present. A throe-tiered cake, decorated witli yellow roses and golden leaves, formed the center piece for the serving table, which was laid with a gold and white cloth. Floral expressions of friends graced the stage and gift tables. Mrs. Raymond Mayfield, dau ghter of the Shraders, acted as master of ceremonies for the program, which consisted of solo Nancy Ehlers, granddau ghter, accompanied by Mrs. Harold Harmon; .solo Mrs. Richard Lauritsen, niece, accom panied by Mrs. Harmon; reading -Mrs. Raymond Mayfield; duet Gary and Gene Mayfield, grand sons, accompanied by Diana Pullman, fro:n Garland, Nebr aska; quartet-Ray Ehlers, Buff Harmon, Cyrus Livingston and Harrison Livingston. Mrs. Ray Ehlers, daughter, read a letter from a nephew, Dr. Reg Jorgen son, Montgomery, Alabama. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Harmon sang, Bless This House; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dietrich gave three vocal numbers. They accompanied themselves on the accordian and guitar. One of these numbers they dedicated to the Shraders. Lester Shrader Jr. introduced his parents, the bride and bride groom of 1911. and his sisters. Mrs. Unadine Moore of Sydney, Australia; Mrs. Raymond May field. Garland, Ncbr.; Mrs. Ray Ehlers, Avoca, Nebr.; and his wife, Adele, daughter, Mrs. Joan Seeman, Sioux Falls, South Dak ota. Each sister introduced the members of her family present and told of those who could not be present. Mrs. Louise Allgayerm a granddaughter, had charge of the guest book; Mrs. Boyd May field. Mrs. Dcane Nutzman. Mrs. Ned Nutzman. Mrs. Buster Bix ter were in charge of the gifts. Mrs Pete Bond had charge of the dining room. Assisting her were Mrs. John Chandler, pnd Mrs. John Rieke. who cut the cake: Mrs. Vivian Boedeker, Mrs. Eugene Fitch, Mrs. Frank Lin dor. Mrs Harold Dietrich. Mrs. Frank Dill. Mrs. Win. He was picked up by his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hill and Nolen, then all motored to the home of their parents at Rock Bluffs where all the family were waiting with well filled baskets of food. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Don Van Osdol and family, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Van Osdol and family, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hugh son and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kuhns and daughter. Mrs. Winifred Slagle, and Mr. and Mrs. Will White. Then on Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Kuhns and grandson, Dwayne Van Osdol accompanied Jerald by car to St. Louis, where they enjoyed sightseeing and attend ed the horse races on Tuesday night when Jerald rode seven races he had one win and one second. On Wednesday Jerald put his parents and nephew on a Braniff plane and sent them home. Jerald is in the top ten jock eys at Fairmount Park. He will be there until Oct. 14 when they will move to Watcrford Park, West Virginia. The Hosts' parents, Mr. and Mrs Lorenz Halvorsen, of Elmwood, Nebr. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Walberg of Lincoln were dinner guests at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bird last Sun day. The latter's daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wm Denny and daughter of Des Moines, Iowa, were weekend guests at the parents home, re cently. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Frohlieh and family of Lincoln and Mr and Mrs. Harry Frohlieh of Cort land, Nebr., visited at the home of the Mcssr's parents Mr. and Mrs. Charley Frohlieh, last Sun day. Mrs. Ruth Burks received a phone call late Sunday evening from her scn-in-law, Mr. Chas. Hempke cf Sidney, Nebr., an nouncing the birth of a baby boy 8 pounds and 2 ounces born Sept. 17th. Mrs. Hempke is the former Wilma Burks, a graduate of Eagle Schools. Mmes. Olive Westlake and Rita Jo Bender attended the Lit erature Preview at St. Paul Methodist Church, at Lincoln Monday evening for the Church School study materials. Mr. and Mrs. Harry West of Lincoln, called at the home ol her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Scattergood and Mrs. Laura West, Monday afternoon. Mrs. Nina Frohlieh, spent last Saturday and Sunday, at the home of her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Trunkenbolz, at Lin coln. Pete Henriksen of Lincoln un derwent surgery a few weeks age and later suffered two strokes, being at the hospital, until re cently, when he was moved to the home, of Mrs. Gladys Trum ble (Dcbeck) at Lincoln. Mrs. Henriksen, has assisted at the latter's nursing home. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ransford spent Sunday at the home of her mother, Mrs. Edith Moore, at Weeping Water, Nebr. Miss Myrna Richards, niece of Mr Ransford, and graduate of Eagle Schools was recently transferred from Fargo, N. Dak., to Grand Island. Nebr.. where she is em ployed with the Social Security office as Claim Examiner. She is aiso a University of Nebraska graduate. Mr. Merle Andersen of Mid west. Wyoming, and his father. Harry Anderson, of Seward. Nebr., visited at the home cf their brother and son, Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Anderson, on Mon day. Mrs. Tena Butt of Eagle and her niece, Mrs. R. C. J Arroya and family of Spokane, Wash., visited at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Har ley Smith last Saturday. Mrs. Arroya is the former Kayo Kennedy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken neth Kennedy, of Omaha, form erly of Eagle. The Arroyas' had recently returned from Ger many, to the parents home, en route to their assigned station at Spokane, Wash. He has served overseas for several months. Mr. and Mrs. H:rley Smith re ceived word of the goitre oper ation, which their daughter, Etta, (Mrs. Lee Peters under went recently at the St. Luke's Hospital at Kansas Ctiy, Mo. She is well known by the Eagle community and all are wishing her a permanent recovery soon. A family get-together and bas ket dinner was enjoyed Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Ei'skli.es', observing the birthdays of the host, Sonny Er skine and his brother-in-law, Mr. Clinton Westlake.
