Mr. and Mrs. K. E. Lorensen visited for a week with Mr. and Mrs Owen Hock and children at (Henvicw, Illinois. They went, by train. One evening they at lended a concert at the Wilmet. Howl where Mrs. Hock was the members of a f)0 voice choir. The two families also visited in Mun dilin, Illinois with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nastie, and Mrs. Laura Farnham at Hinkley, Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nickels left on Tuesday and returned home Friday evening and view ed the sights at the Lake of the Oarks in Missouri. They are both on vacation for a week. Mr. Nickels works at Ash Grove Cement Plant in Louisville and Mrs. Nickels works at the A S C. Office In Weeping Water. They enjoyed a show in Omaha Sat urday evening and went to the State Fair Sunday af ternoon and evening. Helen Tynar left for Centra lia, Missouri after spending the summer with Mr. and Mrs. Gor don Willcoxen. She will teach in the schools there. Mr. and Mrs Duane Ostran der of Lincoln were Saturday overnight and Sunday guests of Mr and Mrs. Louis Allgayer. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Buchholz and family of Avoca were also Sun day dinner guests. Mr. and Mrs. John A h r e n s mid children and Mrs. Addie Hhodcn enjoyed a two week vacation trip. They went to the HIack Hills, Mt. Rmhmore. The Cosmos House and went through! Wildcat Cave. Sand Phone 2708 Obituary ANNA McFALL Margaret Ann McFall, 95 known as Anna McFall to her friends was born Nov. 25, 18116, in the Province of Ontario, Can ada, in the County of Perth. She was born in the log cabin built by her father .Archibald McFall. on the farm he himself had cleared of virgin timber with a hand-axe. Anna was the second oldest child in a family of seven children. At the age of 14 she came with the family to Cass County, where her father had just pur chased a farm near Elmwood NEHAWKA Mrs. Sybil Nixon and grand daughter, JoEllen Nixon and Frank Karpky of Omaha went to McAlester, Okla., to spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Thurmand Nixon. Sgt. and Mrs. Paul Smith and family were Friday evening din ner guests at the Neil Pierce home. The occasion marked the birthday of Mr. Pierce. Mr. and Mrs. George Poulos and Sharon have moved to Ne hawka from Auburn. They pur chased the home of Mr. Poulos's mother, Mrs. Laura Poulos, who will make her home with her son and family. The men Church as one of the charter members. She was the last sur viving charter member by many years. She was baptized by "Grandpa Cyrus Alton," the church minister at that time. Since there were no heated church baptistries in that day, and it was cold weather, a hole was broken through the ice in the creek just east of Elmwood and here Anna was baptized. Her father joined the Christ ian .Church on the same day. In 1898, her father retired from farming and the family moved into Elmwood to the new home they had just built at the north end of lown. For many years the local school teacher.s boarded and roomed at the McFall home, Anna dong all the cooking for them. Sometime shortly after the Elmwood Rebckah Lodge got its charter in 1903, Anna became a member, and remained a loyal member until her death. In the fall of 190G, Anna and her sister Ida started a millinery store in Elmwood. They remained as proprietors of the McFall Millinery Shop for 20 years until 1926. She was proceeded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Boyles, and Ida McFall, and by a bro ther, John McFall. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. George Hall and Mrs. Four th Fitch, and a brother George McFall. Funeral services were at Elm wood Christian Church Sept. 7th, conducted by Pastor William Bavis. Recent callers of Mrs. Hall Pollard were Mr. and Mrs. Oren Pollard and Mrs. Arthur Wolph. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis of Weep ing Water called at the Merritt Pollard home Sunday afternoon. Mrs. John Chandler and Bar bara were in Lincoln Saturday for a check up for Barbara. They visited at the R. G. Yost home. Mrs. Faye Jose and Mrs. Clar ence Jacobson were hostesses at the meeting of the Rebekah lodge Thursday evening at the auditorium. Plans were made for a covered dish supper Oct. 5. Tommy Ross, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Ross was five years old September 6. His dinner guests were the members of the kindergarten class, their teach er, Mrs. Ellis Lacy and Lori Schlichtemeier. Miss Hall fell during the summer and broke her hip. Her condition is serious. Kahlaml LOUISVILLE I Special) -Martin Peter Kahland was born Nov. 25, 1888, in Drelsdorf, Schleswh; Holstein, Germany, to Peter and Anna Kahland and died Aug. 31 at the Community hospital in Til den at 72. He came to the United States at the age of 14 years, and ex cept for a short time that he lived at Millard, he has spent his entire life since coming to this country, at Tilden. He received most of his schooling in Ger many and what little education he received in America, helped him learn the American language. He was baptized and con firmed in Germany and was a meniDer oi tne feace evangel ical and Reformed church at Til den. He was married on Jan. 28, 1908, to Amalie Simonsen of Mil lard. To this union were born six daughters and six sons, 11 of whom survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, and infant son, his parents, two brothers and one sister. Surviving him are five sons Marvin and John of Louisville, Jim of Norfolk, Peter and Arthur of Neligh; six daughters, Mrs. El win Uuanita) Osborn and Mrs Merlin (Madge) Oelsligle both of Tilden; Mrs. Merle (Agnes) Owens of Fremont; Mrs. Bern ard (Ruth) Kvamme of Tampico HI.; Mrs. Ernest (Delores) Lind bo of Casper, Wyo.; and Mrs Raymond (Arlenei Thomas of Columbus, Nebr.; also 21 grand children, 11 great grandchildren and many other relatives and iriends. ----Fu"eral was spPt. 2 at the Peace Evam-ellenl and Re formed church at Tilden vhh Rev.
