Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Garrett and Bernlce returned Sunday evening from a trip through North and Smith Dakota Mnn. tana, and Canada. They visited Mrs. uarrett s cousin, Mr. ana Mrs. James Ritchie at Olds, Al- Derta ana ner uncle, William Tnrr nnri cousins Mr nnri Mn Henry Turre and family of Hel kirk, Alberta. In Billings, Mon tana they were the house guests or her cousins. Mr. and Mrs Euuene Herman. Thev srjent several days In the Black Hills on ineir return trip ana were gone two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Garrett stayed at the farm during their absence. Monday evening Mr. and Mrs. Oren Pollard gave a dinner In honor of the birthday of Leonard St. John. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Pollard and fam ily and Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Pollard. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ross and family spent the weekend In Cen tral Nebraska, visiting Hastings, Mlnden and Grand Island. They spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Johnson of Geneva. Mrs. Clavton Bruce and pM. oren, ana miss Jean Muethlng of Lincoln, and the Oren Pollards were the dinner guests of the Malcolm Pollard family Wednes day. Mr. and Mrs. James Pollard ana ramlly left for their home In San Diego, Calif., Friday. They had spent several weeks at the home of Mr. Pollard's mother, Mrs. Hall Pollard. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Soham of Nebraska City called on the wiinam osts Friday afternoon. John Royal arrived home last week from Dell City, Texas wnere he had been working for tne past three years. Sunday noon he and his Darents. Mr. and Mrs. Louie Royal, attended the itoyai ana K.empes picnic at Palmyra and Sunday evening they went to the Zajic-VanAck- ern weaaing in Plattsmouth. Mrs. T. J. Pollard and daugh ter, Susan, recently returned to their home in Birmingham, Ala bama after a pleasant stay with Mrs. Pollard's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Pollard. Tommy Pollard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pollard, was honored at a birthday dessert party given August 17th by his grandmother, Mrs. Merritt Pol lard, other guests besides his family were Bill Bescheinen of Dunbar and Mrs. Esther Getch lus. Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Everett White of Lincoln enter tained twenty guests at a dinner held at the Cornhusker Hotel in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Oren ' Pollard and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Everrett attended from Ne hawka. On Sunday they held open house at the East Side Christian Church. Mrs. Duane Everrett was at the eift. tahi Imogene Bruce and Margaret Jackson served at the tea table. Approximately 125 friends and relatives attended. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Meyer called on Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Phiefer of Nebraska City Sunday evening. Mrs. Edna Philpot of Weeping Water brought Mrs. Maude Phil pot to the Guy Murdock home Friday morning for a few day's visit. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Mayfield were the dinner guests of the Cooper Hunts of Omaha, Mon day. Mrs. Guy Murdock's sister, Mrs. Louis Peterson Is in a hos pital In Santa Monica, Calif.
