Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rueter spent sev eral days at the Moore home last week and had supper there Wednesday evening Mrs. Bert Rager and her house finest, a sister, Mrs. Daisy Kline, were Saturday dinner uuests of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Parks. In the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Parks and their guests took a decorated birthday cake and ice cream to help Jesse Parks observe his 91st birthday. There were four generations there in the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Malvin Wiles and Terry and Mrs. Sam Long and Sally attended the sidewalk bazaar in Nebraska City Wed nesday, they also visited Mrs. Edrie Wiles and Mrs. Ray Wiph. Saturday afternoon and eve ning dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Sturm were Mr. and Mrs. Dean R. Hall and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Tallsburg of Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Bower and Jennie Sue of Lincoln came Fri day for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Grebe and Russell of Lincoln Joined the group for Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Bower. Mrs. May McReynolds and Mrs. Mary Buell were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Sowards. Six young men of the Trinity Lutheran church went to Scotts bluff Thursday to attend a state convention of the Walther League. They returned home Monday, they were John Earl and Carl Jones, Phillip Stroy, Wayne Kupke, Mark Boerger and John Roeber. Tuesday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Sowards were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gay of Hinckley, Minn., Mrs. M. J. Hankins of Stanton and Mrs. Floyd Bundy. The lady guests were all Mr. Soward's sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gay of Pine City, Minn., were Wednes day dinner guests at the Sow ards home. Mr. and Mrs. Waymond Rohr er of Norfolk were Sunday after noon and lunch guests at the Art Box home. They had been to Omaha to see little Rhonda Rohrer, their niece who was so badly burned three weeks ago. She underwent surgery recently and is still critically ill, she will have to be in the hospital several months. Guy Stickney of Waverly was a Sunday forenoon caller at the Ray Bower home. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Moller and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Armstrong returned home Monday evening after spending several days with Rev. and Mrs. B. F. Parnell in Harrison, Ark. Callers at the Raymond Nel son home last week were Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Clevenger and Duane Nelson of Lincoln and Mrs. Harold Richards. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Miller and family and Mr. and Mrs. Malvin Wiles and Terry were Thursday sup per guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Gaudreault at the cabin. Friday Mr. and Mrs. Wiles entertained guests at the cabin for dinner and supper, boating and swim ming was also enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. Clark Wiles and family of Plattsmouth, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lindfield, Mr. and Mrs. Gaudreault and Melody and Marlece Grimm. KEEP IN TOUCH Mrs. Irene Taylor, formerly of Plattsmouth, is in the St. Jose ph Hospital In Omaha following a heart attack. She Is in room 270, and will be confined for an other week. Wilber Mullis and grandchil dren spent Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Becker of Union. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thiele of Plattsmouth and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kelly of South Bend were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Sadie Shrader and Gerald at Nehawka. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Alkire of Denver, Colo., former Platts mouth residents, arrived last week for a visit here with friends. John Fauquet, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fauquet, is home on leave from Navy Boot Camp. He will be here at the home of his parents for two weeks before his departure for Washington, D. C. where he will be stationed in the School of Music, begin ning Sept. 11. Denny Ptak returned home Saturday from a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Ptak, and with his sister, the Dean French family at Burbank, Calif. Accompanying him to Las Vegas and returning home with him was Mrs. Milton Munice and Mrs. Leta Bourck. Danny Covert is in room 116 at St. Catherine's Hospital in Omaha. He underwent an ap pendectomy this morning. Mrs. Otto Puis from Murray was taken by Sattler Ambulance Friday to the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. Mrs. C. L. Stringer of Living ston, Calif., has been a guest in the home of Mrs. Ernest C. Giles, here. Saturday, Mrs. Stringer and Mrs.. Giles were dinner guests at Nehawka of Mr. and Mrs. George C. Sheldon. Mrs. Stringer, Mrs. Giles and Mr. Sheldon were schoolmates in Ellenburg Depot, New York. Bob Walling entered the Meth odist Hospital in Omaha, and had surgery Thursday. He is room 951, and is getting along as well as can be expected. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Noble and family returned Saturday to their home in Indianapolis, Ind iana after a visit with her fath er Joe Libershal and other rela tives. They also drove to Mont rose, Colo., for a visit with her sister Mrs. Charles (Lindy) Wol ever, and family. Mrs. Helen Godwin, the former Helen Lib ershal, of Nevada, was also a guest at the Wolever home. Mrs. Godwin is a cousin of Mrs. Noble and Mrs. Wolever. Mr. and Mrs, Guy Robinson of San Bernardino, Calif., were visitors this past week of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Keil. On Sunday arriving at the Keil home were Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Munz of San Bernardino. They will visit with the Keils, and also with the Gerold Keil family, and other relatives Mrs. Munz is the moth er of Mrs. Philip Keil and Mrs. Gerold Keil. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Zastera and Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Inman of Louisville left for the Black Hills and Yellowstone Park Sunday. Before returning home they will visit with their children in Two Harbors and in Duluth, Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Zastera of Syracuse are relieving Joe Zas tera at the Cass Drug, while Joe is away on vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Meislng er and son Kenny and Mrs. Ma bel Murray returned home Thursday from a trip to the O zarks, stopping for the Murray Reunion which was held Aug. 20 at Helena, Okla. The scenery was beautiful during the com plete trip, the travelers report. Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Potter of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Johnson of Farragut, la., and grandson, Walter Johnson of Omaha, were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ward Schade. Mrs. Earl Terryberry from Modesto, Calif., arrived for an indefinite stay with her daugh ter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Harms and Sharon. Mr. and Mrs. James Terryberry of Omaha who were enroute home after vacationing in Washing ton, Oregon and California, brought Mrs. Terryberry to Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Meisinger from Sun City, Ariz., and Miss Laura Meisinger are visiting in Omaha with their brother-in-law, Ludwig Miller, husband of the late Matilda Meisinger Mill er. Later Mr. and Mrs. J. L. 'Citizen-Sailor' From Murdock Trains in Maine "Citizen-sailor" Naval Reser vist Orris C. Richert of Murdock is currently undergoing two weeks active training duty at the Naval Air Station at Bruns wick, Maine. Richert is a Chief Aviation Machinist attached to Naval Re serve Patrol Squadron 883 which since Aug. 14 has been conduct ing training to test and improve the proficiency of the squadron pilots, crews and ground person nel. During the period of Aug. 17-20 this squadron participated in a Submarine Launch Assault Missile Exercise (Operation SLAMEX) which involved fleet THE PLATTSMOUTH, NEBRASKA, SCIWI-WErKLY JOURNAL Monday, August 28, 1901 PAGE THREW submarines, fleet destroyer and destroyer escorts, and patrol type aircraft. Operation SLAM EX was designed to test the ability of Naval Reserve Squad rons to carry out an operational order with fleet units. The two weeks stint of active duty for Chief Richert ended at Olathe, Kan. Aug. 27 at which time he will resume his civilian status as a "Weekend Warrior," drilling one weekend each month with his squadron at the Naval Air Station at Olathe. In civilian life, Chief Richert operates the Farmers Oil Com pany at Elmwood.
