Handy McVay left early Sun day morning from Omaha for his home In Lancaster, Calif ornia. He accompanied Linda Herman to California. He had been visiting the past six weeks with Mr, and Mrs. Lloyd Bay liff, Mr. and Mrs. James McVay and Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Marshall. Terry Hastle of Omaha visited for a week with Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Lorensen and helped at the fair. Mr. and Mrs. Lorensen were business visitors in Omaha Tuesday morning and took him to his home. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Smith and Loreli of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sperry visited friends during the County Fair. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Taylor OMAHA NfftBASKA ; and family left on Friday night and will make their home at Ponca. They have been living at the Bender apartments. Mr. and Mrs. William C. Bus kirk, Tommy and Sheryl of San Rafael, Calif, arrived on Satur day morning in Omaha by train and was met by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Akeson. They will visit at the Akeson home and with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Renner and boys of Louisville were Sun day afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. James McVay. Mr. and Mrs. George Urwin of Louisville were Friday afternoon guests of Mrs. L. F. Ehlers. Nancy Ehlers of Avoca spent the past week with Mrs. Ehlers and attended the County Fair. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Seeger and family entertained at a "cook out" on Sunday evening honor ing Rodney Seeger on his sec ond birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Cave and Marvin were guests. The evening was spent in viewing picture slides that the Detmer family had taken on a recent trip to Calif ornia, Oregon and Canada. E. G. Steckley of Long Beach, California visited with Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Day. Mr. and Mrs. Steckley are visiting Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Steckley and family in Lincoln and other friends and relatives. Mrs. Frank Nickels and Velda of Plattsrnouth were Tuesday and Friday guests of Mrs. Ed ward Van Horn, Carol and John. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Pilfold, Debbie and Jody left on Monday for a vacation trip to the Black Hills In South Dakota. They re turned home Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Wiles and boys of Valley were Monday and Tuesday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wiles. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Beach and family of Scribner are moving into the Clarence Sch madeke apartment house. He is the new music teacher at the Weeping Water school. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wade have pur chased the Eugene Schmader property and will move there. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Parson and family have moved into the home vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Clarence King and family, who moved to Valley. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Garner of Blue Hill, H. D. Ash and Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Fleming and family of Papillion were Sun day guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lyal Fleming. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Beach are parents of a son, born Aug. 4 at Dodge County Hospital, Fremont. He weighed 6 pounds, 4!2 ounces and has been named Joseph Alan. He has a sister. Mr. and Mrs. James Fitzpat rick of Mt. Shasta, Calif., are parents of a girl born Aug. 4. She weighed 6 pounds, 12 oun ces and has been named Kim berly Allison. She has a sister Karla and a brother Kevin. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Martin of Plattsrnouth are material grand parents and Mr. and Mrs. Art Fitzpatrick are paternal grand parents. Mr. and Mrs. George Wiles are maternal grandparents and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wessel of Thayer are paternal grandparents. Great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sand and Mrs. Earl Wiles of Plattsrnouth. Mr. and Mrs. Wessel have another son and two daughters. Mrs. T. H. Hanlan received several cards from her daugh ter and family, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Thompson, Carolyn and Marilyn from London, Rome, Paris and then she received word that they had arrived safe ly in Tunis, Tunisia. They are settled in their new home and like it fine. Mrs. Thompson wrote that they attended church at the St. Peters church in Rome. Mrs. Frank Saathoff and Pamela of Ogallala were Mon day evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Brant and their house guests, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Brant and Mike. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nickels, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Kobler of Louisville and Dennis Hoback of Union were Monday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Van Horn and family, honoring Mr. Van Horn on his birthday. Homemade ice cream and cake were served. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rauth were Monday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cook. Dennis Hoback and Jerry Nut ter of nion and Shirley Upton were Saturday evening guests of Carol Nickels. Mrs. Bessie Simonton of Ans ley visited from Wednesday until Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hyde and boys. Mrs. Simonton is Mrs. Hyde's mother. Mr. and Mrs. Harold See of Florida were Monday and Tues day guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cook. They were on their way to Hemit, California. Rev. and Mrs. John Bender and family left for their home in Newcastle on Monday. They had visited for two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Patterson and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Morton of Dunbar were Sunday morning callers of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Bickford and Reggie. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Hill and family of Council Bluffs, Iowa visited from Sunday until Tues day with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cherry. Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Bose and Pamela of Avoca were Sun day dinner guests last Sunday of Mrs. L. F. Ehlers. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ehlers of Avoca were evening lunch guests. Mrs. L. J. Lane and Eleanor and Mrs. Lemual Lane were Monday guests of Mr. and Mrs, I. C. Reed. Wilson Bickford, president of the Board of Education an nounced that the Weeping Wat er school will begin on Friday, September 1. There will be no school on Monday, September 4th which is Labor Day. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Meising er and family of Plattsrnouth were Sunday afternoon and lunch guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Meisinger and family. Ray C. Wiles consulted his specialist Thursday and was placed in Bryan Memorial hos pital for observation and poss ible surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Cooper and Gary of Omaha and Mrs. John Kalasek of Plattsrnouth were Tuesday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Urwin and Alan. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Cook of Nehawka and Mrs. Ella Cook; left Wednesday morning for j Boulder, Colorado for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Allen1 and with Mrs. Dorothy Darling! of Denver, Colorado. They spent j the weekend with Ralph Cook and family at North Platte. Mr. and Mrs. Cook also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wells and family in Denver and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wells in Stapleton. They returned home Sunday evening. Mrs. Cook reports that her son-in-law Forrest Allen, is able to be up following major surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Forrest White and granddaughter of Claren don Hills, Illinois were Saturday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Meisinger and family. Alice Jean Jochim was a Mon day afternoon guest of Marcia Meisinger. Virgil Graham is on vacation this week from his work at the Ash Grove Cement Plant. Mar vin Pilford is also on vacation from his work at the telephone office. Mr. and Mrs. William Cave and Marvin were Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lorensen and Douglas. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sudman and family of Fort Calhoun were Sunday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Cave and Mar vin. Marion Stone of Lincoln is a patient at the Bryan Memorial hospital in Lincoln following a heart attack. Mr. and Mrs. Ai Bickford and Cindy of Lincoln were Sunday supper guests of Mrs. Ai Bick ford. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Bick ford were evening guests and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bickford and boys were afternoon guests. She fell and broke an ankle. A cast was applied and it is hoped she will soon be more comfortable. A birthday party was enjoyed at the Dale Herrold home, Mon day evening honoring the 9th birthday of their daughter, Stephanie. The grandparents and other relatives from Seward were present, and looking for ward to another birthday fes tive, on Sunday, 20th, for their son. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Klrch hoff accompanied her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jacobson and family of Syra cuse, to Denver, Colorado on last Thursday morning for a few days trip and sight-seeing. They visited Mr. Jacobsen's brother and family at Denver and also called at the Ivan Bas sett's motel, at that city, form er Eagle residents, during their stay. Larry Pulver, who has been residing at the home of his sis ter and family, the Paul Mar tins at Eagle, during the school terms returned to his parents home residing near East St. Louis, Illinois and will attend school there this year. He at tended at Eagle for 2 years. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Read, of Palmyra, Nebr. called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Orin Lan ning Sunday evening to visit the latter's son Dean, and family of New Jersey visiting at the par ents home. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Scatter good visited their daughter and family the Eldon Sorensen's at Ruskin, Nebr. Sunday in obser vance of their wedding anni versary and a grandson's birth day, during the week. Mrs. Fred Muenchau is con tinuing to improve, however last Saturday experienced an attack similiar to that which sent her to the hospital a few days ago. Mr. and Mrs. Merl Lanning, of Tulsa, and granddaughters Diane and Bonnie Borrows, of Oklahoma City; daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Borrows, who were visiting their grand parents, visited at the home of his mother, Mrs. Mary Lanning last weekend. All attended the Lanning and Vickers family gathering at Bethany Park, Lin coln, Sunday honoring his visit ing nephew, Rev. and Mrs. Dean Lanning and family of Jersey City. R. C. Wenzel, is recovering satisfactorily from his foot am putation last Thursday at Lin coln. Elmer Judkins of Lincoln un derwent surgery and is recover ing satisfactorily. Elmer Trum ble of Lincoln, also a former Eagle resident, underwent sur gery and was a patient in the same room at Bryan Memorial Hospital. Mrs. W. L. elites received word that she has a great-granddaughter, Kelsey Jolene Tritts, born . Aug. 7 to Mr. and Mrs. Dick Tritts at Cheyenne, Wyo. Sterling Hatfield, of Tuscon, Ariz., called on friends at Eagle recently. He is a former Eagle High School instructor, of his tory, latin and music in the 1930's. He continues to teach at Tucson. Mrs. Hatfield also taught in Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Trunken bolz of Brighton, Colo., visited from Tuesday to Friday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Nina Frohlich. Mr. Jesse Wall was released from the hospital last Friday, after several weeks hospitaliza tion, and is convalescing at the home of his daughter, Verna, and family, the Arthur Thomp sons near Palmyra, until he gains more strength. He Is quite weak. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Corr, son Lester, and daughter Mar lene, enjoyed a few weeks trip to California, visiting his moth er, Mrs. Pearl Gannan, at Gar den Grove, and his brother Mr. and Mrs. Robert Corr and family at Lancaster. They also called on friends, enroute. Both Mr. and Mrs. Corr returned to their positions at Lincoln Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Root and two daughters of Littleton, Colo., visited at the home of Mrs. Nina Frohlich recently and also vis ited her parents at Surprise, Nebr., and relatives of both at Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schmidt and family attended a family picnic Sunday at Antelope Park, Lincoln. The occasion was to honor several birthdays in July ai.d August. Relatives were from Elmwood, Murdock and Eagle. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Halvor sen and Mr. and Mrs. Roderick Swartz attended the funeral services for the Mine's grand father, Hensley at Lincoln, Monday morning. Pete Heuriksen of near Lin coln formerly of Eagle is quite ill and at a nursing home in Lincoln. Mrs. Heuriksen is re siding in Lincoln to be at his bedside. t Mrs. Tena Butts spent Sunday at the home of her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Rhyland Forrester, at Lincoln and called at her daughter's home, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Glaser and family, there. Funeral services for Chas. J. Spuhnle, 86, of Lincoln, former Eagle resident, were at Lincoln Monday. Survivors are his wife, Charlotte; daughters, Miss May Spahnle and Mrs. J. R. Duff (Leona) both of Lincoln; Mrs. O. It. Wilson (Mabel) of Sacra mento, Calif., brother Max of Seattle, Wash.; and sister Mrs. Bertha Oelschlater of Los An geles.
