I, 197 Books Added LOUISVILLE (Special) Mrs. W. S. McGrew, Sr., gives the fallowing report for the 1960-1961 Library year. There were 197 new books added to the shelves, with 60 of these given by friends, making a total of 3,755 books on the shelves. Several new reference books have been given to the Library by Arthur Palmer of California, former Louisville resident. There are 503 registration cards on iile in the Library with .several of these registered as a family unit. During the year, 5 060 books, magazines and pam phlets were loaned out by the Library. In tne summer reading class there are 80 children enrolled. Mrs. Anna Stiffler and a num ber of other ladles are cata loguing and filing a new system which will give more efficient and prompt service for library readers. There were about 34 relatives and friends present at the supper. Weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Max Burmeister were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tre mayne and children, Jane and Dennis of Walthill. Mrs. Tre mayne is a niece of Mr. Bur meister. Monday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. McGrew, Sr., were Mrs. Robert McGregor, Jr. and children, Pat and Mickey and Mrs. Robert Mc Gregor, Sr., all of Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Steinkamp and children were Sunday after noon callers at the Edward Steinkamp home In Weeping Water and evening callers at the Farley Amick home in Weeping Water. Mrs. Lewis Walker and son Curt of Visalia, Calif., arrived last Tuesday and is visiting for two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thurman. Ar riving this week from Heidel berg, Germany, is the Thur man's other daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Pennington and son Scott. Mr. Pennington has spent the past year in Heidelberg as a Red Cross Worker and will be assigned to a new post after their visit here. Air. and Mrs. Henry Doer mann and their granddaughter, Jean Vaughn spent Tuesday and Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Oestmann and sons in Sabetha, Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Biggs and son Joel of Kansas City, Mo., arrived Saturday, July 15 for two weeks visit with their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Biggs, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. John Bogard all of Louisville. Miss Mary Biggs, who has been visiting several weeks with the Brian Biggs', returned home with them. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wildrick and Mrs. Fred Wildrick of Weeping Water were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joe West at their cabin near Elk City. Mrs. Ross Nichols and Mrs. Ernest Read visited Mrs. Eva Blair at the Methodist hospital in Omaha Monday evening. She is reported to be improving. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kearns and sons were Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Hickey in Union. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Leroy were Mr. and Mrs. Doyel Leroy of Lincoln The men went to the ball game at Glenwood, Iowa, and the la dies visited Mrs. Jim Kriten- brink and children in Spring field in the afternoon. Mrs. Ralph Welte Jr. and fam ily and Mrs. Kathryn Welte of Lincoln left Tuesday for a few days outing in Kansas City. Mo. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Merriam of Sepu'veda, California left Fri day after spending a month vis iting relatives in Louisville and the vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Chriswisser and family of Nehawka enter tained at a surprise buffet sup per Sunday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chriswlsser's 40th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Billy Joe Kelley and sons returned to their home in Nor wood, Mo., Sunday after spend ing a week visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Haug and children of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Stohl mann, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Neu mann and Mrs. Alvin Vogler were Sunday guests of Mrs. Martha Neumann. Donald Dee McGrew, who re cently returned from spending two years in Morroco as a weatherman for the U. S. Air Force, visited his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. McGrew, Sr., before going on to visit his mother, Mrs. George Ford at Westgate Road, Calif. Donald has re-enlisted and will be sta tioned at a new post after his leave. A3c Gary Knutson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Knutson of Cedar Creek who entered the Air Force in January, 1961, has completed a six weeks course in electrical power production school at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. He had been stationed at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas and had completed his basic training there. Gary will report to Offutt Air Force Base after two weeks leave with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Heard have received word that their son Clayton Heard has com pleted his recruit training and has been assigned to the U.S.S. Ticonderoga, aircraft carrier. He is now on duty in the Pacific. Robert Larsen and son, Harry and Herbert Eager went to Har lingen, Texas last Friday to get Mr. Larsen's mother, Mrs. J. B. Larsen who had been visiting her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Hansen in Harlingen. They returned home Monday evening.
