Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Heil were among turkey growers at tending the National Turkey Federation Convention and Dressed Turkey Show at the Conrad - Hilton Hotel in Chi cago. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ward and grandsons, Steve and Randy Homan visited Thursday and Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Ward in Oconto. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Feigh- ner and family moved to tne John Gakemeier farm home last week. Mr. and Mrs. John Groathouse and Sandy spent a few days last week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Verlyn Young and Cheryl in Falsurrias, Texas. They also visited at Pharr, Texas and Renosia, Old Mexico. They re turned home Sunday. The other Groathouse children Connie, Deanna, Kenneth and Randy spent the week with their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Groathouse Jr. and Darla in ' Humboldt. The Paytons observed their 14th wedding anniversary. Mr. John Dietl took her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Heneger to Lincoln Wednesday. They left by train for Corpus Christi, Texas to visit their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs Jim Heneger. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hansen, Paul and Connie of Mapleton, Iowa were recent guests at the Fred Hansen home. Mr. Hansen was a former superintendent at Nehawka and is now principal of the Mapleton school. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Baflour and Mrs. John Owen visited them at the Fred Hansen home. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Behrns were informed through hunters that one of their hogs had been butchered in their pasture. The thieves evidently were frighten ed away for they left the entire carcass after it was butchered. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Snyder have named their new son, Kurt. He was born at St. Marys at Nebraska City Dec. 29. Mrs. Lottie Snyder and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Auer of Nebraska City are his grandparents. Mary Lou Briley left Saturday afternoon by plane for Sacra mento, Calif, where she plans to get a position and make her home. Her brother, Terry left Thursday afternoon with his cousin, Steve Sell for Tucson, Arizona, where they plan to get jobs. Richard Cain and son of Bremerton, Wash, were taken by Lett ambulance to St. Marys hospital at Nebraska City. The Cain family were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Thome. Mrs. Gertrude Carper is spending the winter months with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Croasman of Omaha. Roger Dodson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dodson, was elect ted activities director of the R.A.M. council of the Selleck quadrangle. R.A.M. is the resi dence association for men and houses over 1,000 students. George and Gerald Poulos and Albert' Ha ith hunted Jan. 1. Mr. and Mrs. George Poulos and Sharon of Auburn were weekend guests of the George Kimes. Mrs. Gilbert Kime has been a patient at Clarkson Hospital for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Mayfield and family were supper guests Saturday of the Deane Nutz mans. Marion Tucker was a guest for dinner Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Knabe. Guests who called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oren Pollard during the holidays were Mr. and Mrs. John Chieppa and fam ily, Chicago; Leonard S. Mr. and Mrs. Oren Pollard were guests at an oyster supper at the Malcolm Pollard home. Mrs. Clayton Bruce and chil dren moved Tuesday to their new home at 5830 Franklin St. in Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Pollard, Oren Pollard, Harold Pollard, Leonard St. John and Vance Balfour assisted with the moving. Mrs. Bruce Stephen and Karen came here from Washington, D. C. and have been staying with the Oren Pollards for several months. After a re cent heavy snow, police towed away 51 cars illegally on city streets during operation of the city's snow emergency plan. Police also issued 390 tickets to the autos parked on snow emergency streets and left there by their owners after the snow emergency plan was put in force. All In all, it was a busy time for all members of the division on the midnight - to - 8 a.m. shift were kept on duty during the morning traffic peak to di rect traffic.
