Tallie Rose Kerns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kerns, 1909 Read St., Omaha, was taken ill Thursday night with an acute attack of appendicitis. She was taken to the Immanuel Hos nital that evening and submit- I ted to surgery. She is doing fine ana is expectea io oe reienseu from the hospital Tuesday. Mrs. Clifford Dasher entered St. Joseph Hospital this past week for observation. She will be there all this week, and would enjoy hearing from her friends. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Ptak, former residents, have purchas ed a home at 321 South Orchard, Burbank, Calif. The couple moved to the new residence this past weekend. Louis Keil of Plattsmouth was taken by ambulance to Meth odist Hospital in Omaha today after suffering a stroke. Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Godwin are celebrating their forty-first wedding anniversary on Tues day. December 13th. They now reside on Avenue A, just west of the postoffice. Mr. and Mr3. Godwin have spent their marri ed life in this community and where they have a large circle of friends. Pvt.i Larry Curtis is here this week on a leave from Fort Pen delton, Calif., enjoying visiting with his relatives and old friends. He has been at Pendel ton for some time and on his return expects to be sent for service in the Pacific. He Is looking fine and has found the strenuous Marine service to his liking. James Danner left a week ago last Sunday for Three Forks, Montana where he has been made superintendent of the Peter Kiewit Construction there Mi's. Danner and children, Dawn and John and Fred Meyers, Jr., left last Thursday to join Mr. Danner there. Mr. and Mrs. W. S. McGrew, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Braack, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gaebel, Miss Henrietta Gaebel were Thursday dinner guests at the W. S. Mc Grew, Jr., home. Evening call ers were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Koch and family of Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Thomas returned home recently from a trip to Illinois and Indiana. In Illinois they visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Art Holmer at Collinsville. Mrs. Holmer Is the daughter of Mr. Thomas. They also visited relatives in Leban on, Zionsville, Brownsburg and Elkhart, Indiana. They took a ferry trip across the Ohio into Kentucky and made short trips to Ohio and Michigan. They visited the Civil War Memorial in Madison, Indiana. They vis ited by phone with Fred Bram mer of Indianapolis and report ed him as felling fine. Plans for the two-day program are now being forinulated and will be complete soon, reports Dean Lancaster, secretary of the Nebraska Crop Improvement Association. In addition to sever al speakers, there will be a spe cial program for the ladies. Latest Information will be pre sented on new crops and crop varlties for Nebraska. One of the highlights of the event will be the annual meet ing Monday night, Jan. 30. The premier seed grower and the state Wheat Show Milling and Baking Awards will be announc ed at the banquet. B. Hayes, with Ella Wiles as hos tess, 10 members and one vis itor being present. Meeting was called to order by Local President, Mrs. Glen McClure. Mrs. G. O. Swennecker gave devotions. Worship theme was Love Came Down at Christ mas Time. Scripture reading was Luke 2:8-14. Mrs. Ivan Balfour led the Pledge of Allegiance to the three flags, American, Christ ian and Temperance. Roll call and minutes of previous meet ing were read by secretary, Mrs. Masel Sawin. Mrs. IVan Balfour was in charge of the Christian pro gram entitled Peace on Earth The Bethlehem Star .
