Donald Straub, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Straub returned home recently from Bryce National Park, Utah, where he was em ployed for the summer as as sistant student engineer in the park service. He Is attending the University of Nebraska. The Straubs also received word that their son David and family of Merritt Beach, Fla., were warned about Hurricane Donna. They went to be with friends at Stark, Fla., 150 miles northwest of Cape Canaveral to wait out the storm. Mrs. Richard Lowe, Lincoln were recent visitors here. They are the former Edna and Inez Norvall and schoolmates of Miss Meta Mueller. Members of the Quarter Birth day Club held a birthday party for two members Thursday at the home of Mrs. Norton John son one of the honorees and Miss Kate Shoemaker the other hon oree. The January Snowbird Birth day Group held a picnic supper at the Alvin Jacobsen home near Otoe Sunday evening. Friends at Eagle have receiv-. ed word of the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Rullf fson at Minneapolis, Sept. 6 Har mon is a former Eagle resident. His parents are Warren Rulif fson now of Lincoln and the late, Mrs. Olga Ruliffson. At the time of their Eagle residence, Warren was manager of the lumber yard. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Donlan are parents of a son born at Lin coln General hospital. Mrs. Don lan is the former Joyce Taylor of Lincoln and a former H. S. Home Economics instructor at Eagle. 2 Thefts Reported To Police Here Plattsmouth came through the busy Karnival weekend without a reported traffic acci dent, Police Chief Fred Tesch said today. Two thefts were reported, however. Kenneth Young. 730 S. 10th, reported theft of the spare tire and two boxes of tools from the trunk of his car. The car was parked in the alley near Frady' Garage for a time Friday night and the theft could have occur red there or from in front of the Youngs' home, Tesch said. Four hub caps were reported stolen from a 1957 Plymouth owned by Ted Howard, 914 So. 9th, also Friday night. Mrs. John Fischer Phone 7304 Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stall of Santa Rosa, California visited his uncle Elton Snoke and fam ily during last week. Other out-of-state callers at the Snoke's home were former Eagle resi dents, the Clyde Wenzels of Ft. Collins, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schweg man enjoyed a trip via train to Independence, Missouri to visit their grandaughter (Arlene Ger hard), and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Norrls' for a few days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schweg man visited at the home of their grandaughter (Lila Gerhard! and family Mr. and Mrs. Dale Oberles' at Lincoln, Thursday. ' Mrs. Pat Donlan and infant son, Terry Patrick, returned home, from the hospital on Thur sday afternoon. Both the matern al grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor of Lincoln, and paternal! grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Les ter Donlan of Eagle, called at the young grandson's home, on Thurs- evening. Mmes. Ula and Olive West lake accompanied ithe Home. Agent, Mrs. Martha West of Weeping Water, Nebr. to the Ex tension Council meeting at Mc Cook, Nebr., Tues- - Thursday. Mrs. Orris Lanning employed at Lincoln could not attend and the alternate Ula Westlake was priv ileged to attend. They enjoyed the meetings very much. Mrs. Clinton Westlake and Mrs. Edward Muenchau attend ed the WSCS Seminar, at the First church at Lincoln, Nebr. on Friday. The family nite and teacher's reception was well attended. Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Auker have both returned to their em ployment at Lincoln, after their car and riding horse collision ac cident several days ago. Her mother, Mrs. Clarence Vader accompanying them to her em ployment, suffered a chipped bone in an elbow and has been advised to remain home for 3 or 4 weeks. It was a painful injury for a few days. The girl on the horse is recovering satis factorily at the hospital. She was riding the horse ahead of the cars in same direction of traf fic. The horse shied into the path of the car. Former Eagle residents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Judkins and her sister Ella Ossenkop and their nephew's wife, Mrs. Jim Doran of Lincoln, called at the home of their former neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kirchhoff last Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Doran of Lincoln called at the Kirchhoff home on Sunday afternoon and also on other Eagle friends, during the evening. Herman Kirchhoff assisted his brother, George K. in the construction of a barn on latter's farm near Weeping Water Fri day. He also visited his mother, who lives nearby. The Rally Day and Promotion Day for the Methodist Church school classes were held Sunday morning, during the worship ser vices. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Vader of Lincoln, Nebr. and his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Har land Auker and daughter of Eagle were supper guests at the home of the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Vader Thurs day evening. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Halvor sen attended a Parent Twin Club at Columbus Wednesday eve ning. They accompanied Mr. and Mrs Eugene Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Mason Burton and the Cables Used to Rescue Truck EAGLE (Special) A large tractor - truck slid sideways off the highway south of Hornets Arcade and Cafe Friday after noon. Cables were used to pull the truck from the muddy side ditch. The street was congested with cars and spectators during the operation. Police Court Check of -the docket at the court of Judge J. H. Graves this morning shows the following cases disposed of by the court: Dwight W. Splitt, blocking drive way at entrance to street equip ment depot and fire department emergency driveway, $5 and costs; Timmy Kongwell, imped ing flow of traffic on Main street, $5 and costs; Steven Stitt, speeding, $15 and costs; S-Sgt. Carroll M. Lynde, pending since August 7th, careless driving, $25 and costs; A Classified Ad in The Journal cost as little as 50 cents. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bailey of Big Springs, Nebraska and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Urwin were Sunday guests of Mrs. John Mei singer and Floyd in South Bend. Mr. and Mrs Henry Doermann returned home Monday from a three weeks vacation spent at the home of their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Marlyn Bruns in Malvern, Arkansas.
