MURDOCK, NEBRASKA c PHONE 2581 "Gidget" a Romantic Comedy Will Be at the Cass Theatre Who or what is "Gideet"? Let it be known that that is the nom enclature for the teenage hero ine of this romantic comedy, a combination of syllables from the words "girl" and "midget." This is not to imply, however, that Gideet Is a eirl of distorted proportions. Far from it, she is the Petite Sandra Dee and aud iences everywhere will fall in love with her. Coming May 8-9- 10 to Cass Theatre. Based on the novel bv Fred erick Kohner, the story of Gid get and her teenage friends is wholesome family entertain ment, peppy and as youthful in spirit as the generation it de- niets. Consecmentlv this Lewis J. Rachmil production should ap peal to anyone who is young in heart, whether he be teen-ager or adult. According to Gabrielle Up ton's screenplay, Gidget, as played by Miss Dee, is a cute but somewhat naive 16-year-old who is a bit behind her contem poraries in the romance depart ment. When a group of knowing girl friends take her along on a "manhunt" to Malibu Beach, she has little success in attract ing any admirers, so eager is she to romp around the beach and go swimming. While swimming, Miss Dee becomes entangled in sea weed, but is rescued by James Darren, a young surfboard enthusiast who spends most of his time on the beach with a group of other teen-agers. Thrilled by her surf board rescue, Miss Dee decides to go in for the sport herself, and is soon thereafter inducted as a sort of mascot into Dar ren's band, which is headed by Cilff Robertson, an ex-pilot turn ed beachcomber .
