Each of the Dens featured a booth and prizes were awarded for all games, which included cake walk, dart throw, bowling, penny pitch, make-up booth etc. Various business men donated a total of 22 door prizes which were given away throughout the evening. To show their grat itude, the cubs have promised to sweep the sidewalk in front of these stores Saturday morning, May 7. Murdock School Burglarized MURDOCK The Murdock High School building was en tered by an intruder early Tues day morning through an un locked shower room window. The superintendent's office was entered and a small amount of change taken. Sheriff Tom Solomon said the breakin was possibly committed by someone familiar with the school. New Member of City Police Department The city police department has a new member, Edward Hobson, 28, who took over the duties of the office Tuesday eve ning. He is replacing Richard Saxcr who resigned recently. Mr. Hobson is a Korean war veteran and this is his first ex perience as a law enforcing of ficer. Mr. Hobson Is married and has a family of a wiTo and three children. They reside at 531 4th Ave. Death of Former Resident Here Mrs. Nellie Lloyd Lewis, 83, former resident of Plattsmouth, died Monday, May 2, at a Nor flok hospital where she has long been a patient. Mrs. Lewis while a resident here was active in Fontenelle chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. While re siding away, she has kept her membership in the local chap ter. Funeral services will be Sat urday at Omaha at the N. P. Swanson mortuary. The body will be brought here for burial at Oak Hill cemetery and grave side services will be held at 3:15 Saturday afternoon. Funeral Service For Elm wood School Head Held Today Funeral services were held to day for Clarence G. Souchek, 55, suerintendent of the Elm wood schools for the past five years at 10 a.m. at the Method ist church in that city. Later services were held . at 3 p.m. at the Christian church at Edgar with interment in the Edgar cemetery. A native of Dewesse, he held degrees from Hastings college and the University of Nebraska. He headed the Bradshaw and Talmage schools before coming to Elmwood. Surviving are his" wife, Bess; son, Bob who ls employed in Turkey; his mother, Mrs. Min nie Souchek of Dewesse. MURRAY Mrs. Richard Todd Phone 4914 Ralph Richter, news reporter for Green Thumb 4-H Garden Club, reports Bill Spangler and David Morris presided over the meeting of that group held April 25. Leader Mrs. Charles Spangler had a collection of green sprouts which were judged as vegetable or weed. Dale Nickles gave a safety hint about garden tools. Paul Lambert told about com panion cropping. Jesse James demon s t r a t e d plant protectors and told of their use, and Alan Wohlfarth show ed a vegetable chart with vege table grouped in the proper planting time. The new 4-H flag was display ed. The club voted to take a tour this summer. Dennis Meisinger was game leader. Ralph Richter was host for the evening and Mrs. Joe Rich ter served refreshments. Next meeting will be May 30. The five officers of the Mar ray Green Thumbs 4-H Garden Club went to officers training meeting in Weeping Water Sat urday afternoon. They were Den nis Meisinger, David Morris, Pat Maxwell, Bill Spangler and Vir ginia Spangler. Sunnyside Extension Club met at the home of the club presi dent, Mrs. Norma Price, April 28. Nine members and one child were present to hear and take part in the lesson on "Hats," presented by Donna Tritsch. Each lady wore a hat which she considered to be a mistake. Charles Mead left Tuesday and returned Thursday from Bolivar, Mo., where he attend ed the funeral of his brnthr-in. law, Jesse Harris. Mr. Mead said there was a lot of corn be ing planted in that area while he was there and that the wea ther was most pleasant.
