Mr. and Mrs. Harry Piersol of Walton called at the home of his sister, Mrs Chas. Scatter fcood and Mr. Scattergood on .Sunday evening. The Camp Creek Club will have their annual Christmas potluck luncheon at the home of Mrs. Logan Mocroft Dec. 10 at 12:30 p.m. The Trinity Lutheran Aid and tht church members will have a family dinner Thursday eve ning. Dec. 10, at the church. A. P. Schwenker visited his brother, Archie Schwenker of Lincoln, at the hospital Sunday. He was critically ill suffering from a malignant illness and ditd a few hours after Mr. Shwenkcr returned home. Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Kem per of Memphis, Tenn., visited her brother, Mr. and Mrs. C.G Anderson Friday afternoon. Her lather, Harry Anderson of Sew ard, accompanied them and al so enjoyed the visit with the relatives. Mrs. Clifford Ander son Jr. and son called during the afternoon. Mrs. Al- phorise's father is a Wesley Methodist minister in Panama. Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Umland left Saturday morning for Ve nango to visit her relatives for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ken nedy of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kennedy Sr. of Coun cil Bluffs and Carl Stamm of Papillion spent Thanksgiving Day at the home of Mrs. Ken neth Kennedy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Milford Axa of Omaha visited her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Char les Scattergood, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. William Malone and family and her mother, Mrs. Logan Mocroft, were din ner guests at the latter's dau ghter's home, the John Keria kedes at Omaha Thanksgiving Day. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Moss and family spent Thursday at her parents' home, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Darnell at Dunbar. The visiting son of the latter, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Darnell of Eugene, Ore., were also pre sent for the festive day. The Oregon people also visited at the home of his sister, the Har old Moss home. Mrs. Dwight Earl returned home recently from Sterling, Colo., where she visited her daughter and family, the Ken neth Strawns. Mrs. Strawn was hospitalized for an Illness and was improved considerably be fore her mother's return home. Mr. and Mrs. John Rudolph and daughters, Dr. and Mrs. Neil Pettlnger and . family of Syracuse and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stege and family of Elmwood enjoyed a family bas ket .dinner at the home of an other daughter and family, the Willis Stubbendecks near Una dilla Sunday evening. Last week an Ashland construction company was preparing to put tne bridge together from the parts alongside the machinery. First the bridge was to be assembled and measured because there are no blue Mr. and Mrs. Earle Fischer and family of Aurora, Colo., visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Fischer during Thanks giving vacation. They came by plane. He is an airlines em ploye. Other guests for Thanks giving dinner were Mr. and, Mrs. G. Thanksgiving Day while Mr. and Mrs. Robert Phillips were at Denver, their two daughters Mrs. Virginia Fitzpatrick and Gracie Phillips, both telephone company employes, arranged a conference call for Mr. Phil Hps to enjoy a visit with his brothers, Walter In Lincoln, and Raymond in Alberta, Canada, and a sister in Medford, Ore., Friends of Mrs. Albert Sch wegman at Lincoln, formerly of Eagle, are glad to hear she is recovering satisfactorily but she still uses crutches to Ret , a round her apartment Her sister-in-law lives with her. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kir choff visited Monday evening at Mr. Henry Grafe and his sis ter's home, Minnie Grafe, hon oring the latter's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Reynoldson enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reynoldson near Albion Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Schwenker were supper guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Ketelhut Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Morton of Alvo were supper guests at the Ketelhut's Monday evening. Following the dinner the business meeting was conducted with the regular report of officers. During devo tions and lessons, a color film strip with a record on "Christ mas Observed in Different Lands" was shown by Mrs. Rob ert Bowne. The annual church supper was gratifying for the ladies who made the affair a success recently. A collection was taken and sent to Omaha Mission. The next meeting will be Jan. 6 with Mmes. Pearl Adams and Bonnie Anderson co-hostesses. Mrs. Ralph Reynolds of Dodge City, Kan., is visiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Schwen. ker. All attended the funeral services for Mr. Archie Schwen ker, brother of Mr. A. F. Sch wenker on Wednesday afternoon at Lincoln. Enjoying a belated Thanks giving dinner at the home of the Messrs parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Ketelhut on Sunday, were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ket elhut and family and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Ketelhut and fam ily of Walton, Nebr. The Doyle Gump family and her father, Mr. Harry Boyd who reside with his daughter and family, moved to Lincoln where they purchased property recent ly. The Chas. Smith family moved to the property vacated by the Gumps. Mrs. Laura West returned home Sunday evening after en joying a visit with her son Rich ard, Mr. and Mrs. Richard West and 2 daughters, during the Thanksgiving weekend. Raymond Rippe suffered sev eral broken ribs when a ladder gave way as he was helping to repair a corn crib. Mrs. Willis Fletcher and chil dren of Nebraska City visited relatives here Friday. Mrs. John Lingle Sr. and Mrs. Gilbert Neumeister attended a surprise birthday party for Mrs. Kate Neumeister at the home of Mrs. N. F. Horn In Weeping Water Tuesday. Mrs. James McVay was assistant hostess. Robert Hallstrom who has been ill for several weeks is able to be in the bank part of the time. The Hop held a business meet ing and elected Harry Jacobsen, Mrs. Ed Nelsen, Roger Ehlers, Dennis Stubbendlck. Cathy Norris and Lynette Kepler to the board. Steven Carr of Lincoln spent several days here last week with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Carr. The Jolly Neighbor Club met with Mrs. Glenn Stubbendick. They picked out nut meats for her. Mrs. Morley died at her home at Upton Nov. 23. She is sur vived by two sisters, Anna Ruh ge, Upton, and Mrs. Minjiie Huffman, Elmwood, Another sis ter. Louise Gillln, died Nov. 1 this year. It destroyed some but for the next day or two, they came in great clouds. With the grasshopper plague , the family wished that they had not left Wisconsin, but good times came again and in 1885 Mary Helm married John Group of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin at their family home. They lived on several farms In the area be fore settling down in 1892 on a farm that remained their home about two miles southeast of Louisville. In 1914 they retired and mov . ed to Louisville on Maple Street. On February 24, 1935 they celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary and on September 11, 1938, at the age of 84, Mr. Group passed away. Mrs. Group has lived in her home alcne ever since. Mrs. Group has lived a very useful life and is liked and respected by everyone in the community. Ike Kocian in Omaha Hospital Ike Kocian of Plattsmouth is in St. Joseph Hospital, Omaha, Room 308. He entered the hospital Nov. 27, ironically the wedding anni versary of he and Mrs. Kocian, for observation, x-rays and treatment of a leg ailment. It is expected he will be there another week or so. He was born October 21. 1870 at DeWitt, 111., son of William and Sarah Basserman Hodges. He was married December 24, 1891 to Lee Chrisman. Survivors are wife, Lee Hodg es, Plattsmouth; daughters, Golda Richard, Englewood, Colo; Gladys Fowles, Denver, Colo.; Pauline Christy, Kansas City, Mo.; Grace AIbi, Denver; Virgini FUrse, Omaha.' Mr. Hodges was engaged 'in mercantile business for the greater part of his lifetime. He was a member of the Christian church at Alma. Neb. Conrad Guthmann f Dies in Pittsburg Aged Eighty Years Conrad Guthmann, 89, native of Plattsmouth, died Sunday, December 6th at his home in Pittsburgh,, Pa., where, he . has lived the past thirty years., h'j , He was son of Mr., and Mrs. Oswald - Guthmann, early day residents and born here August 21, 1879. ' -" He was preceded In death by one sister and the parents. Four nieces survive his passing. Funeral services are pending, the Sattler funeral home in charge. Death of Gloria Jean Bressman Gloria Jean Bressman, 15, daughter of a well known Omaha and Bellevue family, died Satur day in an accident at 7400 Sarpy avenue Omaha. She is granddaughter of Mrs. Eliza Ramel of this city and is known to many in this city. She was born August 27, 1944, at Omaha, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bressman. Surviving are the mother, Mrs. Emmert Kousgaard, Omaha, and father, Paul Bressman of Belle vue; brothers and sisters. Bill, Carol, Janice, Suzanne, David, Omaha; grandmother, Mrs. Eliza Ramel, Plattsmouth; Mr. and Mrs. John Bressman, Belle, vue grandparents; uncles and aunts. Gloria was a sophomore in South high school at Omaha and a member of Zion Lutheran church in Omaha. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Sattler funeral home chapel, Rev. E. H. Anderson, Morningstar Trailer Court, Plattsmouth was one of the crew of five aboard a KC-135! jet tanker which was slightly damaged at Offutt Air Force Base Friday night. The plane "nosed over" when its nose gear assembly collapsed about 8,000 feet from its touch down point on a landing. There were no personal In juries and no fire. Sgt. Phil Hirz Suffers Heart Attack On Saturday Morning Phil Hirz, long time business man and operator of the Sports l Hall recreational parlor is at! the St. Catherine's hospital at1 Omaha, suffering from a light heart attack suffered Saturday morning. Mr. Hirz was injured last week in a fall in his place of busi ness that resulted in the injury of three ribs on his left side, this caused him a great deal of pain, Saturday when he opened the store he was unable to carry on. An early morning visitor at the place of business, Floyd Courtright, called Dr. B. F. Brendel and Mr. Hirz was taken to the St. Catherine's hospital, by the Sattler ambulance. He is reported as resting easily and it is hoped that he may be able to return home soon. Jacob Hennings, Pioneer of County Dies at Fremont 'Jacob C. Hennings, 82, died Saturday at his home in Fre mont. He farmed east of Louis ville for many years, and is well known in this community. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Fornoff of Fremont and two grandchildren. Also four , brothers.
