The Bluebird Extension Club met Tue.day at the Emily Gon zales ho-ne. The Garden Club was invited. Also present were Mrs. Olive Westlake and Mrs. Halvorson of Eagle, Extension officers. ' Augusta Robb told of her re cent trip to New Jersey and Wa hington Crossing Park on the Delaware. Mrs. Horton reviewed the book, "Luke, the Great and Glorious Physician." Assistant hostesses were Mrs. Ralph Crea mer and Mrs. Earl Horton. The Cottage Homemaker Club held their meeting this month with Mrs. Watson Jonei of Elm wood with 11 members and sev en visitors present. Mrs. Som mers from Lincoln was a guest and gave a demonstration on flower arranging. The Christmas meeting will be held with Mrs. Eldon Oehlerking of Alvo reporter, Mrs. E. Oeh lerking. Word comes from Orlando, Fla., that Mr. and Mrs. Clark Marshall are parents of a son, Scott Charles, born Nov. 17. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Marshall are the grandparents. The Eagle WSCS Invited the Elmwood WSCS to come to their workshop Thursday at the Me thodist church under the South Central Jurisdiction., Officers were Mrs. Hossak, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Parker of Lincoln. Eleven members from here at tended. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Preston vis ited from Friday until Thursday evening in Seward at the home of their son, the Dwayne Pres tons. They have been on an European trip and now are changing location from Denver to Des Moines, Iowa, Visitors at the Hubert Bishop home from Monday to Thursday were her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Noske and lit tle daughter, Julie. Their home is in Denver and he Is on his vacation. Edmund Steiner spends his extra time In building a large combination work shop and ga rage. Mrs. Charles Borgenrlef and daughters, Mary Ann and Peggy Sue spent Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Moore and Sharon of Weeping Water. Old friends of - Mrs. Mable Wood came Nov. 21 to spend the day at her home. They were Mrs. G. A. Young, Mrs. Gladys VanCamp, Mrs. Edith Truitt, Miss Margaret Seeck and Miss Elfrieda Seeck. An interesting Thank Offer ing program was participated in by the ladies of the WSCS of the EUB church Nov. 11. The program was under the direc tion of Mrs. Gussie Jockens and Mrs. Don Fredenburg. The Elmwood Girl Scouts met Nov. 9. Joan Rueter and Linda Pool showed how to use knives from Girl Scout Camp. Girls finished their silhouetes. Wanda Hawk served cookies for lunch. Reporter. It was decided 5 girls will take "Let's make a Skirt and Blouse" and 4 girls will take "Let's Sew." New officers elected were Kay Stolp, president; Mary Wright, vice president; Kathy Hammers, secretary and treasurer; Cheryl Stratton, news reporter. Plans were made for a Christ mas party at the next meeting which will be held at the home of Gloria and Sandra Hansen the evening of Dec. 14. Cheryl Stratton, reporter. Happy Homemakers Exten sion Club met Wednesday with Mrs. Elgen Knudson. Mrs. Ric hard Townley was a guest. Mrs. Albert Hill and Mrs. Bill Leesley gave the lesson on "Skil let meals." The Christmas meet ing will be held with Mrs. Mil ford Hansen with Mrs. Albert Hill assisting. Ruth Circle met Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Walter Woitzel with 9 members present. Mrs. Ralph Clymer gave the lesson. Sunday callers on Mr. and Mrs. Walter Woitzel were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Graham of Ashland. , Mr. and Mrs. Walter Woitzel spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wilt of Syracuse. Mrs. Wayne Landon and Mrs. E. A. Landon attended a music recital at Waverly. Mr. and Mrs. Ray. mond Cook of Omaha were Sat urday evening dinner guests at the latter home and attended Eastern Star. Mr. and Mrs. Amo3 March spent a week with her mother, Mrs. Laura Sutherland, return ing home Tuesday of this week to Laramie, Wyo. Mr. and Mrs. Burton of Har vard visited Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Laura Sutherland They had been to Palmyra vis iting his brother. Mrs. Burton was Grace Bogenrief, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Bogen rief who would be remembered by many. In helping her husband with the corn, Mrs. Eidon Menden- hall .fell in getting .out of the wagon, injuring her spine. It happened Nov. 12. Since being in the hospital, she is improving She has a fractured vertebra which has been quite painful Little Patty Stubbendeck vis ited her aunt and uncle, Mr, and Mrs. Jack Conners last Sat urday and Sunday. Sunday dinner guests at the Harry Arnold home were Rev. and Mrs. Clarence E. Llnd of Lincoln, former pastor of the Methodist church here, now re tired. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pratt and chil dren. Rev. and Mrs. Ebinger attend ed funeral services Friday after noon at Holdrege, Nebr.. for Mr. Ebinger's mother, who was in a nursing home there. On Monday they attended a get-together at Aurora, Nebr. Sunday dinner guests at the Walter Oehlerking home were Mrs. Gussie Jockens, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Oehlerking Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Kuhlenengel and baby of Syracuse. Mrs. Dwight Clements' mo ther, Mrs. Horstman of Casper, Wyo., arrived here for a visit with the Dwight Clements fam ily. Mr. and Mrs. John Lehman, Linda and Jennie of Prairie ville, Kansas, were here visiting her father, Mr. Orley Clements and other relatives. School News The operetta, Red Candles, will be presented on Dec. 3, at the Community Building at Elmwood at 8 o'clock. This en cludes the entire Elementary School. It-is a very Interesting story about a Norwegian family who came to this country, were separated and are united again on Christmas day. The director is Eunice Stock. The elementary teachers are assisting with the rehearsals. Elmwood's entry at the State Music Clinic was unable to at tend because of the sickness of an aunt. Lynne Whlttemore was the entry. Nov. 19, friends, neighbors and relatives of Mrs. Albert Pool gathered at her farm west of Wabash to husk her corn. Din ner was served by Mrs. Kenneth Wallace, Mrs. Glenn Miller, Mrs. Arley Hill, Mrs. Gayle Towle, Mrs. Arlo Pratt, and Mrs. How ard Pool. Those helping with the husk ing were Paul Rueter, Alvin Rueter, Gayle" Towle, Ralph Richards, Richard Pratt, Arlo Pratt, Verle Rieckman, Ralph Creamer, Lonnie Rorie, Richard Hawk, Wm. Ekele, Marlon Wen zel, Si Schlaphoff, Chester and Joel Bornemeier, Howard Vogt, Walt Fleischman, Orlin Burrill, Glenn Miller, George and How ard Pool. granddaughters took part In the recital. Dr. N. D. Talcott, who Is a patient at Bryan Memorial hos pital Is some Improved at this time. Henry Kirk entered the Uni versity hospital at Omaha Tues day for treatments. Mrs. C. W. Osburn and Mrs, D. E. Buckingham received word of the death of their aunt Mrs. B. C. Cope of Torrance, Calif., Mrs. Cope formerly lived at Ash land. M bem nm mm Elaine Tfustos, Melissa Toman Have Tonsilectomies Elaine Tlustos and Melissa Toman had their tonsils re moved last Friday at St. Cather ine's Hospital, Omaha. They are home now and are getting along fine. The girls are Columbian 5th Graders. Parents are Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Tlustos and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Toman. The families are neighbors.
