Sand Phone 2708 Holy Trinity Guild Mrs. Ralph Meyer presided at the meeting of Holy Trinity Guild Tuesday afternoon when it met with Mrs. Norton Jon son of Avoca. She announced the Thanksgiving clothing drive for those overseas in need. Mem bers of the Guild who assisted at the orphanage bazaar in Lin coln were Mmes. Lewis Royal. Merle Meyer, Leo Schram, Tony Wlrth, Emll Lutz, George Meyer, Oscar Zlmmerer, Mervin Alvis, P. O. Sand. Next meeting will be Dec. 1 wit Mrs. Carrol Meyer. Mrs. Francis Kreifel is a new member. Girl Scouts The girl scouts met at the church Monday after school and discussed making Christmas gifts for their mothers. The girls will sell Scout calendars. Nehawka Extension Club Mrs. Jack Lindsey and "Mrs. Howard Heesch presented the lesson, "Skillet Cooking" at the meeting of the Nehawka exten sion club Wednesday afternoon at the home ' of Mrs. Lindsey. Guests were Mmes. Ivan Win land, Roland Hogue and John Brakhurst. The December meet ing will be a covered dish sup per at the home of Mrs Richard Stone on the 5th. Cub Scouts Mrs. Malcolm Pollard and Mrs. Ivan Hansen assisted Mrs. Ned Nutzman, leader, at the Cub Scout meeting Monday at the Hal Hansen home. The boys made decorated foil trays. Arna Jahnke, Omaha, was a weekend guest of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Adkins. Sunday Mrs. Larry Adkins-and David of Ham burg, Iowa came and all were guests of the John Roberts of Avocai Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ro berts and family were dinner guests of the John Roberts. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Balfour went to Sioux City, Iowa Thurs day afternoon. Mrs. Balfour went through the clinic at the Uni versity hospital there. They re turned Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Mayfield accom panied them. Mrs. Floyd Joerger and Mrs. Kelly Thome attended the cooks workshop at Ashland Thursday. They are cooks at the Nehawka consolidated school. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stone of Tuscon, Ariz., arrived to spend a week with his mother, Mrs. R. B. Stone and his brother, Chester and sisters, Mrs. Robert Jameson and Mrs. Neil Pierce and their families. Mrs. Amelia Balfour was a guest at a card party Wednes day afternoon at the home of Mrs. L. G. Dwyer at Nebraska City. Mrs. George Poulos and Shar on of Auburn, Mrs. George Kime, Debbie Spear and Ther esa Kime visited their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Reece at Sidney, Iowa, Thurs day. Mr. and Mrs. Reece left Monday to spend the winter in Tuscon, Ariz. Elaine and Karen Hansen spent the weekend with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Simonds of Nebraska City. Debbie Ross visited the Giles school Thursday with her cou sin, Marion Ross and Friday Lois Hansen was Marlon's guest at school. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Ross at tended the Patriarch Militant and Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant meeting in Omaha Monday evening and the dinner at the Swedish auditorium. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cum mings, Omaha, were guests Sun day of Mrs. Merritt Dodson and family. Sharon Dodson, who was home from Lincoln for the weekend, returned Sunday with ; the Cummings who went by way of Lincoln to Omaha. Merritt Dodson, Jr., teacher of science and math at Lynch, was home for the weekend. Cheryl Hogue, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Hogue, was four years old Nov. 11. He showed slides and spoke of the vast developments in public power in Russia, Siberia and China. He traveled as far east as Siberia. He said English is1 taught in the Russian schools.
