Death of Sylvanus D. Rockwell, Saturday! Sylvanus D. Rorkwrll, 7t,j long timo resident of Cass renin-' ty. died at Louisville Saturday,' where he has made his home for some years. His family are old residents of the Weeping Water rommunity. Survivors are one sister, Mrs. Ethel O'Brlan, Louisville; two brothers, Floyd, Grand Island; Calvin, Los Angeles. He was born in Omaha Aug. 19, 1958. Survivors are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Sampson, of this city; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lapidus, San Salvador, Central America; Mr. and Mrs. W. P. O'Donnell. Plat Mrs. John T. Porter, Platts mouth. The parents and relatives will have the deepest sympathy ul the community in the tragedy that has come to them in the loss of the little 14 month-old son and grandson. The accident to the child oc coured when his mother went across the street to the drug store from their Main Street apartment. Funeral of Mrs. Mrs. Viola Long At Lincoln Funeral services for Mrs. Viola Long, 88, 2234 No. 56 street, Lincoln, who died Wednesday morning at the home of a daugh ter at Lincoln, was held Satur day at Roper and Sons mortuary in Lincoln. Rev. Nye Bond officiated at the service with Maryalice Mac ey, organist. Burial was at the Elmwood cemetery in which community Mrs. Long and her husband, the late William Long made their home for many years. Pallbear ers were sons and grandsons of the deceased, Virgil, Merle, Ear le, William Long, Gus Bremer, Bill Christopherson. Mrs. Long was a native of Casey, 111., and has lived in Nebraska eighty years and in the last twenty years in Lin coln. She was a member of the Presbyterian church. Survivors are: sons, Virgil L., Norfolk; Merle W., Plattsmouth; Earl M., Omaha; daughter, Mrs. Nevada Christopherson, Lin coln; three grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren. Blackwcll Friday afternoon funeral ser vices were held for Mrs. Clara M. Blackwell, 65, 5348 North 27th St. Omaha. Services were at Croiby-Kunold Mortuary and burial was held Friday at Oak Hill cemetery in this city in the George Kroehler family plot. Mrs. Blackwell Is survived by daughters, Mrs. Donna Beth Head, El Monte, Calif.; Mrs. Mary Ann Method, Decatur Nebr.; eight grandchildren; sis ter, Mrs. Frances Padfield, Lake wood, O. Death of Cus Stavron At Stockton, Calif. Message was received this morning by George Conis of this city, of the death at Stock ton, Calif., of Gus Stavron, cou sin of the late Mrs. Conls and well known in Plattsmouth. Mr. Stavron was for several years operator of the Olympia cafe in Nebraska City where he was active in the business life of the community. He has been in failing health for the past several years and had made his home on the west coast for the greater part of the time. Elmwood Couple Injured in Two Car Accident Two Elmwood residents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Swanson, suffer ed injuries in a two car crash Tuesday five miles west of the Fort George corner on Highway No. 34. State Trooper Kenneth Chap man reported the Swanson car collided with a car driven by Elmer Jackson, Spokane, Wash. The Swansons had backed their car on the highway when the collision occurred. The Jack son car collided with the right front of the Swanson car. Jackson's car went of the north shoulder of the road into the ditch and rolled on the highway. The car skidded sixty feet on its top. Mrs. Swanson was thrown out of their car. They sufferd cut and brusises. They were taken on into the Elmwood clinie for treatment. Jackson was not ser iously injured. Jackson's car was a total loss and considerable damage was sustained by the Swanson car. Three Youths In Hospital From Severe Injuries Three youths passengers in the car in which Kenneth Cowper thwait, 17 of Manley was fatal ly injured in an auto crash on the streets of Gretna last Mon day, are still in the Lutheran hospital at Omaha. Robert Schram, 16, Gretna owner and driver of the car suf fered a broken lower jaw, face cuts and bruises. Dennis Whittington 19, Neha wka, suffered a cut forehead, broken right arm, bruises and shock. Thomas Schram 17, Weeping Water, suffered an injury to his left hip and head bruises. He was riding in he back seat of the car. The other three boys were in th front seat of the car. The car caught fire after going out of control, striking a parked pickup truck and bounced across the street into the yard of W. A. Snare where it struck a tree. The pickup truck was damaged to the extent of $350 while the Schram car was a total wreck. Walter Van Buren scrambled Into his car to pursue a pair of vandals he had seen tampering with his tires. The chase came to a sud den halt, however, when the wheels fell off Van Buren's car. The guest was Mrs. McKulsky's mo ther, Mrs. Roy Lammert from Creston, Iowa. 63 MILES IN 30 YEAR S St. Nazaire, France Fish ermen are still talking about the crab that walked more than 60 miles in 30 years sideways. Fishermen caught the crab off this Atlantic port and found scratched on its shell the words "Job Le Roux." The crab was identified by Joseph Le Roux, now 50, who recalled that one morning 30 years ago and 100 kilometers (about 60 miles) along the coast, he scratched his name on the shell of a crab he caught and threw it back to the sea.
