Monday, October 19, 1959 Mrs. Alberts Entertains The Gamma Chapter Gamma chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa teachers Honorary Sorority held its regular meet ing Saturday evening at the home of Mrs. John Alberts, Louisville. Mrs. Dale Gleason, chapter pie. ldent, presided over he bu siness meeting which was opened according to ritual and the regular business composed of a communication from Alpha Chapter, Omaha, inviting the members to the pre.convention dinner and Founders Day pro gram' in Omaha. New candidates for chapter membership were voted and ac cepted. Other topics for discussion in cluded civic and charitable ac tivities that chapter could spon sor. Several suggested and dis cussed were, visits to rest homes, work assitance to the Cass County Historical Society, public library activities, group study, book reviews, milk pro gram tor needy children, re search, and cultural visits to Omaha. The meeting closed and Mrs. Alberts served a lunch in keep ing with the Halloween theme. Marriage Licenses The following were recently issued licenses to wed by County Court here.: Terry J. Wednesday Oct. 21 Mrs. Mynard Club will meet at the home of Mrs. Leonard Peterson. The lesson will be on Skillet Meals. Thursday. Four members were absent and guests were Mrs. Ed Wil liams and Gertie Belle Kellison. Alter the meeting opened with The Lord's Prayer, Marie Wheel er was made an honorary mem ber. Mrs. Georgia Creamer is also an honorary member of the club. Election of officers was held with the following being elected: President, Ann Kaffenberger; vice president, Mrs. Frances Kel lison; secretary, Mrs. Art Mohr; treasurer, Mrs. Harold Peterson, Jr., and corresponding secre tary, Mrs. Stanley Lepert. The flower committee is Mrs. Kate Doud and Mrs. Henry Kaffen berger. After election the club present ed the past president Mrs. Frank Lepert a gilt for her efforts for the past year. It was then turn ed over to the program commit tee Mrs. Harold Peterson and Mrs. Harry Glazebrook. Several games were played afterwhich lunch was served by the hos tesses. November meeting will be at the home of Mrs. John Thomas. Out-of-Town Guests Attend DAR Meeting Fontenelle Chapter Daughters of American Revolution met at the home of Mrs. Harvey Gamer Saturday evening. Miss Jessie Robertson assisted. Mrs. Mollie Gobelman, Regent, presided and the meeting open ed with devotions by Mrs. Dale Philpot, acting Chaplain. Mrs. H. R. Johnston led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. Mrs. Ernest Giles of Jonathan Cass Chapter served as organist. Mrs. Folsom Gates of Gordon, State Regent, was present and gave an interesting talk on Patriotism and awareness of future events. Other state officers present were Mrs. Grant Ackerman, Lin coln, State Vice Regent; Mrs. G. R. Tinkhan, Omaha, State Treasurer and Mrs. Leon Ponte of North Platte, State Corres ponding Secretary. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostesses assisted by Mrs. C. A. Rosencrans and Mrs. Zilpha Seward. Special guests were Mrs. Henry Herold, Miss Barbara Gering and Mrs. Rae Patterscli ot Swi Fran cisco, Calif. Meisinger Families At Kroese Home Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kroese and family entertained members of Meisinger families at their home in Springfield, Sunday. Those attending from Platts mouth were Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam H. Meisinger, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Meisinger and Kathyrn, and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Mei singer. Also attending were Mr. Wil liam H. Meisinger of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Meisinger of Lincoln, Mr. Emil Meisinger of Greenwood, Mrs. Katherine Meisinger of Weeping Water, Ralph Meisinger of Louisville, Mr. and Mrs. Joe A. Meisinger of Springfield and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Meisinger of Springfield. Sprandel Family Reunion Here October 17, marked the first reunion of the Wm. Sprandel family since August, 1953. The reunion took place at the Spran del residence, 621 South 9th St., Plattsmouth. Among those present was Shelby Ann Sprandel, the five month old daughter of Mr. and i Mrs. Martin Sprandel of Ala meda, Calif. Shelby is Mr. Sprandel's first granddaughter after having nine grandsons. The other three sons and their families present were Mr. and i Mrs. Clarence Sprandel of Ply mouth; Mr. and Mrs. Gus Spran ! del and son Ron of Omaha; and : Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sprandel .; and sons, Bobby, Jimmy and j Gary of St. Louis, Miss. Also present were Mr. and Mrs. ' Henry Walter, brother-in-law I and sister-in-law of Wm. Span i del from DeWitt. Ralph Hild is at the Clarkson Hospital, Omaha where he un derwent an emergency appen dectomy Friday evening. 702 Ave. B. Mrs. Jaycees Hear Reports At Meeting The Plattsmouth Mrs. Jaycees held their regular meeting Mon day, Oct. 12, at the Blue Flame Room of the Gas Company, with President, Jean Schneider, pre siding. Reports were given on the re cent float project and also the reception for the King and Queen of Korn Land, which was sponsored by the Mrs. Jaycees. Reports were also given on the Children's Memorial Hospit al Bazaar to be held in Novem. ber in Omaha. Each year the Nebraska Mrs. Jaycees sponsor a booth at the bazaar. Over thirty items have been made by the local Mrs. Jaycees to be sold at the State Booth. Several Plattsmouth Mrs. Jaycees are planning to work at the Nebras ka Mrs. Jaycees booth at the bazaar. The delegates to the fall quar terly conference held in Norfolk October 10th and 11th, gave a report of the conference. There were four local Mrs. Jaycees re presenting Plattsmouth. Three ideas were submitted for civic projects to be begun by the local chapter, and each one Is being investigated further, and will be voted on at the next meeting. The local chapter also discus sed ideas for a "costume" for the Plattsmouth Mrs. Jaycees, so that at each state 'meeting all the delegates will be dressed alike and thereby identified as Plattsmouth delegates. A com mittee was appointed to pick a suitable outfit, and this will be voted on at the November meet ing. The door prize for the evening was won by Deline Faris. With no further business, the meeting was turned over to the program chairman, Deline Far is, who presented a most inter esting and beneficial program on the proper use of make-up. The hostess for the evening, Ditty Aim, served refreshments in keeping with the Halloween theme. Kay Albert Worthy Advisor LOUISVILLE (Special) Kay Albert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Albert of Louisville, was installed Worthy Advisor in the Order of Rainbow for Girls in the Masonic Temple in Springfield. The flower girl was Suzanne Stohlmann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Stohlmann of Murdock. Mrs. Anna Larsen was soloist and sang "God's Rain bow Shines For You" and "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked." Mrs. Evelyn Hubbell, the out going Mother Advisor, present ed the bars to the girls for their work during the term. The in stallation was closed and a lunch was served in the dining hall. Sunbonnet Group Met Thursday Mrs. Le Roy Covert was host ess to the Sunbonnet Garden Club at the home of Mrs. Ray Farlander Thursday afternoon. Roll call was answered with "Various Things Of Interest." Plans were discussed for a Chritmas party which is an an nual event of the club. Mrs. Covert gave the lesson on shrub es for hedges. Social hour followed, games were played, prizes going to Mrs. Earl Shanholtz, Mrs. Clar ence Akeson and Mrs. Max Bow man. The hostess served lunch. Visitors In City Thursday Visitors in Plattsmouth Thurs day were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Carrithers of Long Beach, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Cunning ham of Nehawka, and Miss Lou Vallery of Garden Grove, Calif. Mrs. Carrithers, Miss Vallery and Mrs. Cunningham are sis ters. They visited here with their brother John Vallery and conlinued on to Omaha where they were guests of another sis ter, Dr. and Mrs. Strickland. ? Tr Mrs. Duane Miss Karen Hoover Is Wed To Mr. Duane L. Krecklow Miss Karen Hoover, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Hoover, became the bride of Duane L. Krecklow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herold A. Krecklow of Elmwood, at an 8 p.m. ceremony, Oct. 3 in the Methodist Church, Roca, with Rev. Robert Turner and Rev. Sandhall officiating. Mr. Wayne Carpenter was soloist with Mrs. Fredia VerMass at the organ. For her wedding the bride chose a re-embroided gown of Alenion lace. Scallops of lace formed the square neckline. The lace overskirt revealed a tiered tulle front panel sweeping back into a cascade of ruffles which formed a brush train. Her veil was held by a sweetheart hat. She carried a white Bible with a white orchid and pink step hanotis. Mrs. Eddie Moormeier, sister of the bride was matron of honor. She was attired in a waltz length gown of mint green taf fetta. Bridesmaid: was .Miss Catol May of Roca, and bridesmatron was Mrs. Warren Kolder of Lin coln. Their gowns were of Bronz taffeta styled the same as the matron of honor. Pattie Craw ford served as flow7er girl and wore a floor length dress of white lace. Ringbearer was Ki vin Moormeier, nephew of the bride. Dale Krecklow served his bro ther as best man. Groomsmen were Royal Halverson of Palm yra and Dwight Wiles, cousin of the groom of Weeping Water. Seating the guests were Neil Stein and Kenneth Walker, both 4 Local Couples At JC Conference Four Plattsmouth couples at tened the Fall Quarterly Confer. ence of the Nebraska Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Nebraska Mrs. Jaycees, Oct. 10 at Norfolk. The business sessions were most Informative and a lot of ideas and information will be of great help to the local organi zations. In addition to the forums and business sessions, a fine social event was enjoyed, with a lunch eon for the ladies Saturday noon, and a banquet and masquerade ball Saturday night. Those attending from Platts mouth were Mr. and Mrs. Harold A. Smock, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Schneider, Mr. and Mrs. Don Born and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Biles. Mrs. Schneider and Mr. Born are the local Presidents of the Plattsmouth Mrs. Jaycees and the Plattsmouth Jaycees, Mrs. Smock is serving as a State Vice President of the Nebraska Mrs. Jaycees. 3 from Here at Legion Auxiliary Elmwood Meeting Attending the Cass County American Legion Auxiliary me eting in Elmwood Wednesday evening were Mrs. Lloyd Fitch, local unit president, Mrs. Wm. Maston and Mrs. Donald Warga. Members were present from Eagle, Elmwood, Nehawka, Louisville. Plattsmouth, Union and Weeping Water. Mrs. Dorothy Smith of Weep ing Water is County president. Mrs. Wm. Strabel, Elmwood District 12 President gave a re. port on National Convention. Mrs. Fitch led the Preamble to the Constitution and gave a re port of the past years work. x -v , . A reception in the church par lors followed the cermony. The serving table was centered with a five tier wedding cake with mint green candles on either side. Large bronz bows decorated the table and the gift table. Mrs. Robert Wiles, aunt of the bride groom of Weeping Water and Mrs. Arthur Overton of Lincoln poured. Mrs. Ira Bash, of Colorado served the wedding cake. The couple left for a weeks trip in Illinois and Wisconsin. They will reside in Lincoln where both are employed. Skillet Cooking For Fairview Club Plattsmouh Fairvview Wom en's Club met Oct. 8 at the home of Mrs. Louis Wagner.Jor.an all. day meeting. "'' " : The food was prepared as in the lesson "Cooking in your Skillet". Foods prepared by Mrs. John Terryberry and Mrs. Wag ner were ' 'Italian Spaghetti, Corn Bread and Skillet Cookies" Two other casserole dishes and salads made up the menu. A lively discussion of "Skillets"fol lowed. All types of skilets plus many electric ones were com pared. The assistant hostesses, Mrs. Richard Livingston and Mrs. Glen Terryberry served the "Hot Fruit Compote A La Mode and coffee after the business meet ing. The business meeting opened with repeating the flag salute and singing of "America and "Billy Boy." The mystery song clues are getting more compli cated each time. .Still no correct identification. It was agreed to do sewing for the hospital again next year. A tour of Western Electric is scheduled for Thurs. evening October 22 for members and their families. It was announced that our club had 65 entries in the Korn Karnival Flower Show, account ing for 25 awards. Committess were announced for the family party to be held at a later date. Next meeting is to be Nov. 12 at the home of Mrs. Eugene Mei singer. Seventeen members and one visitor took part in the days ac tivities. mm Daughter Mr. and Mrs. William C. Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Luverne Knut son are parents of their first child born Oct. 18 at St. Joseph Hospital, Omaha. The baby weighed 8 lbs. 7(2 oz. Attending were Linda Herre, Patricia Smith, Nanette Nelson, Rebecca Fahrlander, Donna Por ter, Judy Baumgart, Suzanne Solomon, and the honoree, Sus an Hansen The evening was spent play ing games and opening the many lovely gifts Miss Reno Is Engaged To Wed The engagement of Miss Jac queline Reno, daughter of Mr. Jack Reno and Mrs. Betty Reno, is announced to Mr. Norman E. Kurz, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Kurz of Kansas City, Miss. The bride-elect, a 1954 gra duate of Plattsmouth High School, has attended Tarkio College and currently the Uni versity of Houston, Texas Miss Reno is the granddaughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Rhoades of this city. Mr. Kurz is a graduate of Fin lay Engineering School, Kan sas City, in Mechanical Engi neering and Is associated with Black Si Veatch Consulting En gineers of Kansas City. No date has been set for the wedding. Lebens Family In Omaha To Wedding Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lebens and family were in Omaha Sat urday to attend the wedding of Miss Gertrude M. Pound and Mr. J. William Tighe. The Reverend William Kelly S. J. officiated at the ten o'clock wedding held at Saint John's Church. Mrs. Lebens was matron of honor and Mrs. James M. May of Stratton, Colo, bridematron for their sister. A buffet dinner was served at the Blackstone Hotel and a reception held at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jay A. Pound, Sr. The bride groom is the son of Dr. Daniel J. Tighe of South Sioux City Illinois Guests At Seybold Home Dr. and Mrs. August C. Rasche of Belleville, 111., sister and brother-in-law of Rev. G. E. Seybold, arrived Monday morning for a few days visit, departing Wednesday morning for Turlington, la, - Dr., iiasche held pastorate at St. Peter's Evangelical and Re formed church at St. Louis, Mo., for tw-enty years. Prior to that in Wheeling, W. Va., for seven teen years. For the last thir teen years has been at Bay, Mo., in semi-retirement. He is now retired from active duty at Belleville, 111. COME IN AT AMERICA'S RUBIN Washington Ave. n Local Teachers Attend Institute Of Lincoln Diocese The Teachers' Institute of the Diocese of Lincoln was opened Monday with Pontifical Mass celebrated by Bishop James Casey at Saint Mary's Cathedral at 10 a.m. First general meeting was held in the ballroom of the Lincoln Hotel with the address given by Msgr. M. S. McAuliffe of Kansas City - St. Joseph Diocese. His topic was "Our responsibilities to Our Parents." Second general meeting was at 2 p.m. also in the ballroom with Dr. Leroy Ortglesen addres sing the group on "Certifica tion." At the third general meeting Msgr. McAuliffe addressed the group and used as his topic "Our Vocation And The Work En trusted To Us." About 400 teachers of the southern part of Nebraska at tended encluding Priests, Nuns and Lay Teachers. Attending from Plattsmouth were Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Przudzik and Sisters Mary Lewis, Jean Richard, Mary Francis and Charles Joseph. New Officers Elected To Club Four Mile Extension Club held their meeting at the home of Mrs. Fred Nolting. Assisting hos tesses were Mrs. Art Penke and Mrs. Art Weiss. Highlight of the meeting was election of officers. Sixteen members answered roll call and four visitors Mrs. R. A. Fellingham, Mrs. George Born, Mrs.. Rubin Jensen and Mrs. Mary McBride attended. Mrs. Lyle Meisinger, vice pre sident, presided at the meet ing due to the absence of the president. Vice President, Mrs. Leonard Born; secretary, Mrs. Everett Parrlott; treasurer, Mrs. Bill Starkjohn; reporter, Mrs. Hugh Stander and song leader, Mrs. Charles Grosshans. The lesson "Parents and Purse Strings" was given by Mrs. Lyle Meisinger and Mrs. Charles Grosshans. Refreshments were served by the hostesses. A. Lorenx Home Scene of Reunion Monday John Warren Lorenz arrived here from Everett, Wash., for a visit here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Lorenz, to join his brother, Ed ward Lorenz of Burba nk, Calif, who has been here the past week. This is the first time for a con siderable period that- both sons have been home together and has been a most happy occasion for the parents and old friends. Edward Lorenz has been a res ident on the west coast for some years, going to school at Glen dale, Calif., and when complet ing his work moved into the Lockheed Airplane plant where he now has a verv fine position. "Jack" on completing his school here was a member of the air force and later graduated from the University of Idaho at Mos cow. He is now employed by the state health department of Washington and located at Everett.
