Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Pester and the Charles Bogenrief fam ily attended the Horse Show at Johnson and enjoyed apicnlc together. Charles Hitchman of Blencoe, Iowa, visited recently at the Albert Pool home. Also at the Howard Pool, Glenn Miller and Arley Hill homes. The Double B 4-H met at the home of Nancy Miller May 20 at 2 p.m. Karen Backemeyer, president, called the meeting to order. Secretary Marie Ros enow read the minutes of the last meeting and members re sponded by telling what they had done during the last month. There were movies on sewing. Visitors Saturday from Lin coln at the Albert Pool home were Mr. and Mrs. Seward Day and Mrs. Dan Switzer of Fre mont. Sunday evening guests of the Charles Bogenrief family were Mr. and Mrs. William Wheat- ley and family of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Irons Invited the Elmwood Garden Club to their residence last Mon day to see their field of Iris and gladioli. He raises them scien tifically as a hobby. The ladies drove to Charlie Flelschman's to see their many flowers and to the F. M. Robb flower gar den. The Town Kensington met on Thursday at the home of Mrs. Laura Stovall. Mrs. Reber read "Memorial Day" as did Mrs. Stoval; Edna Miller read "The Old Wooden Bath Tub": Edna Fleischman read a portion of "A Lucky Number" by Vera Henry. "A Mother's Day" was read by Emily Gonzales. Edna Fleischman had charge of the program. Next time, Mrs. Clark and Edna Miller will have the program at the home of Alma Clements, June 25. Mrs. W. O. Harrell's grand son and family, the William Bar ry family of Fremont, spent Sunday with her. Last Thursday afternoon Mrs. Harrell enjoyed a surprise vis it from her granddaughter, Mrs. Joyce Giddens of Orlando, Fla. She attended the alumni banquet at Otoe where she graduated from high school 13 years ago. Mrs. Lloyd Ganzel of Nebraska City brought her over to see her grandmother. Th e Cottage Homemakers Club met at the home of Mrs. Herbert Oehlerking for their May meeting with 10 members and 4 visitors present. The les son was given by J. Vogt and Anna Brockhoff on how to make and paint hot pad boards and they demonstrated the meth ods. Next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Vogt. Sherrill Oehlerking, reporter. Keith Bornemeipf has pur chased the Minnie Rosenkoct ter house and will move in from the country after they do some remodeling. The farm of Harvey Backe meyer was in the path of a small twister. It moved a broo der house and destroyed an "A" hog house. Two large trees in front of Keith Bornemeier's house Vere struck by lightning and ruined. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sou chek have rented the Harry Krall house. Visitors at the home of their mother, Mrs. Lena Bornemeier, were Mr. and Mrs. George Dil ger and son of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kunz and Dale, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bornemeier and the Alfred Bornemeier family of Murdock. The Memorial Dav gathering at the Ruth Monning home in cluded Mrs. Fred Rudolph of Malcolm, Mrs. Nellie Phelan, Lincoln, Jessie Bragg of Ray mond, Mrs. J. F. Mills and Dave and Judy of Murdock, the Melvin Juilfs family and Emily Gonzales, Elmwood, Mrs. Don Gonzales and John of Williams burg, Va. Memorial Day guests at the Guy Clements home were Ella Stirtz and Mr. and Mrs. Fay Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lorenz of Hickman and Mrs. Frank Lor enz. Gary Clements left by plane for Phoenix, Ariz., to spend a few days visiting his sis ter, Dr. Betty Clements. Mrs. Laura Hollenbeck had the misfortune to fall in her kitch en Saturday morning. She man aged to get to the phone. X rays showed a break near the hip joint and she was taken to Bryan Hospital for surgery Sunday morning. Her daughter and husband, the Don Erick- sons of Omaha, came to be with her. Mr. and Mrs. Orval Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Back emeyer and children drove to Ogallala Saturday to meet the Paul Husar family of Colorado They went fishing in Lake Mc- Conaughy and returned home Sunday. Memorial Day guests at the Earl Horton home were Mrs Lois Francis of Lincoln and Mr and Mrs. Orvllle Julian and Claire of Plattsmouth, also Mr. and Mrs. Herman Fleischman of Ashland. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ratliff and boys drove to Auburn Saturday to visit relatives and returned home Sunday. Larry and Gary stayed for a longer visit with their aunt. Helen Schneider entertained 22 guests Sunday for supper as a surprise for her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Reeder of Cambridge. It was their 25th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Nlrkles and boys of Curtis also were there. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brown (formerly Lois Tyson) were for the alumni event Friday. Their home is at Eaton, Colo. Her sisters are Mrs. F. M. Rob'o and Mrs. Marion McCrory. There were 268 present at the alumni banquet Friday night at the Community Building. Mrs. Mary Tolhurst Gonzales of Williamsburg, Va., was toast master. All four churches ser ved the banquet. Keith Born emeier was president of the alumni association. The McCrory family reunion was held at Capital Beach Sun day. They were from Greeley, Colo., Mound City, Mo., Big Springs. Neb., North Platte, Falls City, Nehawka, Lincoln, Omaha, Murdock and Elmwood. TOOI Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Reeder and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Prentice of Fullerton were at the Char les Roelofsz home Friday even ing for supper. Mrs. Reeder and Mrs. Prentice are sisters of Mrs. Roelofsz. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Weichel, Mr. and Mrs. John Weichel, Mrs. Wilson Howe and Miss Arlyne Streich of Murdock attended the Commencement at Peru Friday morning. They had the pleasure of visiting with Dr. and Mrs. Neal Goman and family, Dr. Go man is now president of the college at Peru and was a former superintendent at the Alvo school from about 1945 to 47. Mr. Harry J. Weichel, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Weichel was among the graduates having completed an Industrial Arts and Physical Education Course, he will teach, in the Ralston school this fall. '' Mr. and Mrs. Paul Coatman of Holdrege, Nebr., were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Mickel. They came to attend the Alumni banquet at Elmwood, Fri day evening. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Haas were with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Haas at Oma ha last Saturday. Mrs. Talbert Edwards spon sored a farewell party for Jim Winget at the school gym, Wed nesday evening. The Winget, family plan to leave for Cali fornia to make their home, in the near future. There were about twenty-one present, the evening was spent playing games and dancing. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bro of Syracuse visited with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Skinner Friday. They are the Skinner's son, Clyde's in-law's. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Smith and daughters of Ceresco, dau ghter and family of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Skinner were with them Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Skinner went to Mullen, Nebr., Sunday evening to get Cindy and Bunny Bryant, their grandchildren to spend the summer with them. Mr. and Mrs. Don Elliott gave a steak supper for Mr. and Mrs. Tom Piper, Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Roelofsz were also Saturday evening guests for ice cream and cake. Mr. and Mrs. Graham came for the twins that have been with their grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Ger bling, they have been transfer red to North Carolina where they will make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Elliott and family visited at the Virgil Irons home at Lincoln Wednesday evening making the acquain tance of their new niece, Mary Anna. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Elliott and family were with Mrs. Elliott's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Carnes Sr. at their home at Raymond, Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Dehart and children and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Leming all of Ashland spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Leming. Jeanette Weichel has been with the Alfred Makovicka fam ily at Plattsmouth since school has been out. She spent Satur day with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Weichel and family, she was also home Tuesday bringing some of the Makovicka children with her to spend the day. Judy Weichel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Weichel is em ployed at the Curtis Kimball home at Lincoln, she started Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Weichel and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Leefer of Unadilla were Sunday after noon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Howe and family. Mrs. Dale Wismcr's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vanderback of Hickman were with the Dale Wlsmer family over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Chris tensen and son of Lincoln were also Saturday evening guests. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wlsmer and family attended a Vander beck reunion at Panama, Satur day. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wlsmer and family were at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marlon Bade at Nemaha Sunday, visiting their son that had fallen from a tree and injured his spine.
