The result of the election was that for village board Harry Ar nold and Roy Jeffers were elec ted. For the school board, Swain Neilsen and Dwight Clements were elected. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Greene attended the State Pharmaceut ical Convention and banquet on Tuesday at the Cornhusker Hot el. 'Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Stern er have been informed by the University of Nebraska that their daughter, Sylvia Ruth Stein er who has achieved high schol astic standing, will be one of the students honored at the Honors Convocation April 21 at the Un iversity Coliseum. f Mrs. Edmund Steiner and Cyn thia Lee were in Lincoln Tues day and while there went to the Lincoln Clinic. They also called on Mr. and Mrs. Keith Smith, Phyllis and Freddie of Denver at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith. 'The Elmwood Busy Bees met April 8 at the home of Mrs. Car la Fletcher. Krlstie Eveland and Charmln Drake Joined the group. The leader, Mrs. Hawk, gave a demonstration on the cor rect way to make a bed. Each member took part In folding the corner of a sheet. Andrea Rae Huston celebrated her 6th birthday Sunday after noon by having a few friends in. They were Mickie Oldfield, Nancy McLaughlin, Kathy Knosp, Irene Pestor, Joyce Alt house, Janie "Flelschman and Ellen Casteel. r Forty-ninth and Fiftieth Ques tion Mark" was the title of the play presented under direction pf Rev. Eblnger at the WSWS meeting at the EUB Church Ap ril 8. Mrs. Ted John acted as leader, substituting for her mo ther, Mrs. Lavina Backemeier. Interesting information about Al aska and Hawaii was disclosed by the characters as the play progressed. : Also taking part were Mrs. Eb lnger, Mrs. Harlan Kunz, Mrs. Walter Oehlerking Jr. and Mrs. John Stolz. The worship center was com posed of a lighted globg and a lovely bouquet of tulips. -"During . the business meeting tnese people were commended for having attended all meetings during the past year: Mrs. Dale Flelschman, Mrs. Gussie Jock ens, Minnie Kund, Lena Reike, Mrs. Ray Vogt and Mrs. Lester Rosenow. The WSCS met in the Fellow ship Room of the Methodist Church April 10,' Mrs. William Eveland gave the lesson entit led Rapidly Growing Nations. Mrs. McDonald announced the next study club will be at Mrs. LaDean Lannin's April 20. The nominating committee re ported and it was voted the nom inating ballot be the elective bal lot. Those present having April birthdays were Mrs. Fred Buell, Mrs. Emily Gonzales and Mrs. Harry Arnold. Hostesses were Mesdames McDonald, D. Hollen. beck, E. Charling, Wm. Rueter, S. L. Clements and Miss Alice Kuehn. Mrs. Ethel Strabel and Mrs. Emily Gonzales attended a coun ty meeting of the American Leg ion Auxiliary at Hickman April 9 and one at Eagle April 10. They are county officers. On their way home from Om aha, Mr. and Mr. I. J. Friend spent the evening at the Clar ence Souchec home. Their home is at Hastings. The ladies are sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Fred, Linhardt drove to Plattsmouth Saturday evening to visit their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Marlon Christensen. Mrs. G. R. Eveland and Mrs. Elden Mendenhall took advan tage of their invitations to pres idents of clubs by the Women's Division of the Lincoln Cham ber of Commerce to tour the new governor's mansion, the Legis lature and the Air Base. Albert. Kunz arrived home April 9 from an extended visit with his daughter Deloris and grandchild at Fullerton, Calif. He reports a wonderful time and that he saw several former Elm wood people. He and Tommy Buskirk called on Norval Both wells and Andy Hettrick. Mona said she enjoys the Plattsmouth Journal so much. Albert also enjoyed being present at the Elmwood picnic there. The Modern Mothers met at the home of Mrs. Vincent Seik er April fl. Mrs. G. R. Eveland was speaker, telling about her tour through the Eastern states last fall and showing many pic tures as she talked. The club Is planning a trip to Nebraska Ci ty soon. Mr. tnd Mrs. Bob Nicodemus of Craig, Colo., spent the week end at the Charles Fleischmann home and made a few calls on other relatives. They had been in Detroit and drove back their new Ford truck. Mrs. Nicodem us is a daughter of the late Ralph Reeve and Edith Miller Reeve former Elmwood people. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Miller have received word his sister, Mrs. Ella Worman of Weeping Wa ter, died. We extend our sym pathy. Mrs. Alfred Stroemer of Al vo entertained the birthday group on her birthday. They are Mr. and Mrs. Herman Born emeler, Mr. and Mrs. Orest Cook and Gloria Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Clements and from Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Art Hanson. Mrs. John Stolz went to Chi cago Friday night to visit her brother, Dale Rumelin. She ex pected to return Tuesday. Janet and Janice Reeder, stu dents in Lincoln, visited at the Mary Williams-Helen Schneider home over Sunday. There Is to be a dedication ser vice April 9 at 3 at the Meth odist Church for the memorial gifts in memory of Mrs. Mlna Leavitt and Mrs. Wilma Nickel. Mr. and Mrs. Grover Hill and Lena Reike were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Rieke of Alvo. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pester of Lincoln were Sunday guests at the home of their son and fam ily, the Lloyd V. Pesters. It is reported that Wallace Boyd is in the University Hospit al in Omaha having undergone surgery on an eye. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Miller entertained the Owls for Sun day dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Gonzales went to Bennett Saturday eve ning and Mrs. Gonzales visited a club meeting at Mrs. Jay Nel son's. She belonged to the club years ago. Sunday afternoon they called on Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ayers of Alvo. "Mr. iand Mrs. Jesse Jones of Ashland were Sunday dinner gu ests of Mr. and Mrs. Watson Jones. The men are brothers. v Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Oehl erking entertained Mr. and Mrs. Watson Jones for Sunday sup per in honor of Mrs. Jones's birthday. Mrs. Ed Seiker and Mrs. Al bert Seiker attended a shower Sunday at Manley for Miss Su san Slattery. Mrs. Vernon Hill and Mrs. John Murphy also at tended. , . School News The Elmwood Music Depart ment presented its annual spring music festival April 10. A large crowed attended. The seniors served lunch after the program. The seniors will present their play at the community building May 1. The play, entitled Stop the Wedding, will be directed by Mr. Carlson. Baccaulaureate will be May 10 &nd commencement May 14.
