Oscar Zimmerer attended a Bankers Life of Iowa Insurance Agency school Thursday through Saturday at the Cornhusker ho tel in Lincoln. John Baier Sr. entered Brown hospital at Nebraska City last Sunday and will receive treat ments. Mrs. Henry Maseman went to Bertrand Thursday to visit with her sister, Mrs. Rosa Ehlers, for a week. The Congregational Women's Fellowship met Thursday after noon at the church with Mrs. Minnie Neumeister and Miss Bertha Neumeister as hostess es. Mrs. Lou Stueckrath became a new member. Mrs. Herman Kammann enter ed Bryan Hospital at Lincoln and underwent surgery Tues day. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mar quardt accompanied Mrs. Em ma Van Sickle to Talmage last Sunday and were dinner guests of Mrs. Cora Casper. In the af ternoon they visited at the home of Cecil Asa. Charles Marshall attended a "Hall of Fame Meeting" at Kan sas City last week. He is sec retary of the organization. Mr. and Mrs. Silas Everett and Mrs. Clyde Bogard were dinner euests last Sunday at the N. J. Everett home in Lincoln. Clarence. Hilda and Clara Kammann are home from the university with their father Her man Kammann. Clara will be at home for a longer time. Mrs. C. Q. Zaiser has been having a siege of the flu. She has been unable to work at the post office. Clark Marshall was home on a weekend pass from Lowrey Field, Denver. Mrs. Clark Mar shall returned to Denver with him. The Kenneth Wessel family joined the John Steinhoff family at dinner at the Louis Steinhoff home at Syracuse Sunday, and in the afternoon they attended a dedication of the Cook Com munity school at Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Have man visited Mrs. Lloyd Hill man, a patient in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lincoln. They also visited Mrs. Fred Haveman Jr. a patient at Bryan Hospital at Lincoln. Her condition remains about the same. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Carsten entertained at a card party on Sunday night. Mrs. Ed Van Horn and Mrs. Ed Freeman of Weeping Water visited Sunday at the Earl Free, man home. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ruhge, Mrs. Harold Damke and Car olyn Stohlman were among those who attended the smorgas bord at Nehawka Sunday. Mrs. Ernest Haveman stayed with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Reimers at Palmyra a couple of days last week. Mr. Reimers is critically ill. Posters are being displayed for the cancer, polio and heart fund benefit Jan. 31 at the Town Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Carr of Lincoln and the Irvin Seelhoft family of Syracuse were at the John Stubbendick home Sunday to help them celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Carr brought them a decorated cake of an open Bible with the Lord's Prayer on one side. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hennings attended the wedding of his nephew Larry Hennings at Bea trice Sunday. Ray Norris held a general farm sale last week and Is re tiring from active farming. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Pummel, Nebraska City visited her bro thers Jess and Fred Gruber Sunday. GLENDALE Mrs. Tom Tennant Phone 4251 Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hansen of Torrinton, Wyo., visited with Mrs. Tina Nessen. They visited their daughter in Omaha before coming to Louisville. They will visit relatives in Lincoln and Grand Island before leaving for home. Paul and Wayne Wagoner spent Saturday at the Lester Wagoner farm home. Mrs. Ervin Albert underwent surgery at the Methodist hospit al Tuesday of last week. At this writing she was doing fine and expected to be home Thursday or Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wagoner were in Omaha Fri. Mr. Wag oner visited Harry Wirth at the Vets Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Dayton Hen nings called at the Sattler Fun eral Home in Plattsmouth Sun day afternoon, paying their re spects to Mrs. Hennlngs's aunt, Mrs. Herman Graham. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sprieck and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Zerion and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Group and son spent Sat urday evening at the Boyne Par son home helping Mrs. Parson celebrate her birthday. Mark Heil spent Sunday after noon with Steve Group. John Cordes. Mr. and Mrs. A. Wilson and family, all of Omaha, visited Sunday at the Fred Cordes home. Mr. and Mrs. Errett Wiles of Waterloo were overnight visitors at the Lester Tennant home Sat urday. Sunday visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lange of Omaha. Laura Parson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Boyne Parson, suffered a fractured arm while playing at school Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson drove to Lincoln to visit Mrs. Johnson's brother, John Brick er at the Veterans Hospital. He suffered a stroke and is not al lowed many visitors. While in Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were luncheon guests at the John Van Vliet home. Mrs. John Ritter, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tennant visited Sat urday at the Arnold Tennant home in Omaha. Mrs. Marion Schroeder, Car ol and Ronald of Syracuse visit ed Sunday at the Tom Tennant home. Dinner guests at the Arthur Derby home Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Derby and fam ily. Mr. and Mrs. John Wegener called at the August Stohlman Jr. home in town Sunday after noon. Mrs. Ray Derby and daught ers are now settled in Lincoln. Mrs. Derby's brothers are liv ing with her. Penny had the mis fortune to fall on the stairs and fracture a bone in her leg and is in a cast and doing fine. Dr. Aleksandr V. Members voted to continue the bake sales held at each meeting for their general fund. The year books were distributed. Mrs. Faye Jose and Mrs. James Chriswisser presented the lesson 'First Aid." Mrs. Charles Martin led the song of the month. The next meeting will be Febr. 24 with Mrs. Dale Topliff and Mrs. Lawrence Gregg will gie the lesson 'Laundry Tricks and Gadgets." Bluebird Club Mrs. John Chandler presided at the meeting of the Bluebird club Thursday at the home of Mrs. E. A. Hansen and Mrs. Charlotte Niday. Mrs. Doris Pol lard was co-hostess. Seventeen members were present. The pre sident, Mrs. Arthur Hansen, was unable to attend. A dinner Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Johnson observed the birthday of Elmer Fitch. Quests were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Fitch and sons. Miss Bessie Murdoch was a guest for the day Sunday of the Guy Murdochs. In the afternoon all visited the Alton Sterling family at Weeping Water and were their guests for lunch. Mrs. Maude Philpot was a guest Sun day of Mrs. Jennie Dawson of Plattsmouth. Wade Nutzman birthday din ner guests Friday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Deane Nutzman, Dale, Kay and Mark, Mrs. Emma Nutzman and Mildred. Douglas Haffke, Plattsmouth, is staying with the Win. Jorgen sons this week while his mother is having surgery in Omaha at the St. Joseph Hospital. Mrs. Jorgenson was an overnight guest at the Haffke home Satur day and visited with Mrs. Char les Cooper of Yuba City, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Banks of New Jersey have named their new daughter, Linda Marie. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jene Banks. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Nolte and family were guests Thursday of the Julian Johnson family. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Pollard and sons, Omaha, were weekend guests of Mrs. Doris Pollard. Arthur Hansen returned Mon day from the veterans hospital in Lincoln where he was a sur gery patient. Dr. Clayton Bruce of Odgen, Utah, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Oren Pollard, has returned to his home following hospitlaization for a serious illness. Mrs. James Budin, Clarkson, Nebr. came Friday to spend sev eral days with Mr. and Mrs. Ro bert Sclichtemeier and sons. Gene Lyons, recently hospital ized, is now able to be out again. Mr. and Mrs. James Kitchen, Lincoln, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Engelke meier. Mrs. M. J. Marks left Satur day for her home at Worland, Wyo. after spending twelve days with her mother, Mrs. H. A. Swartz and her sister, Mrs. John Tanner, Mr. Tanner and their son. Mrs. Gilbert Edmonds return ed Friday from St. Mary's hos pital at Nebraska City following surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hines write from Winterhaven, Fla. that many of the flowers froze dur ing the recent cold spell. Mrs. Anna Bennett was call ed to Exeter by the death of her brother, Mr. Miller. A meetine was held at the parsonage Monday evening to organize a Young Married Cou ples Bible Study Group. They were to meet with Mr. and Mrs. Kendall Dimmitt Wednesday evening. A meeting of members of the Eagle, Murdock, Elmwood and Alvo school boards was held at the Alvo school. A budget for operating the four schools as one central school was the main to pic for discussion. The Alvo basketball and vol leyball games were played at Nehawka Friday evening. The volleyball team were winners, grade school basketball team had high score and high school team lost. There was no school Jan. 2 as some roads were blocked by snow. Several community ac tivities were cancelled. Blood mobile was to have been in Elm wood, will be there now at ?i future date. The ovster and chill supper at the church was also postponed.
