COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS Office of County Commissioners Cass County, Platlsmouth, Nebr. January 13, 1959 Board met pursuant to ad ournment. Present H. L. Borne- meier. W. F. Nolte and Melvin R. Todd, Commissioners, and Chas. Land, County Clerk. Minutes of the last session ap proved and the following busi ness transacted in regular form: in organizing for the year 1959 the Board balloted twice. On the first ballot W. F. Noite was elect ed Chairman of the Board. Nolte declined the offfice. On the se cond ballot Melvin R. Todd was elected Chairman of the Board. After further balloting H. L. Bornemeier was elected Vice- chairman and W, F. Nolte was elected Chairman of the Wel fare Board. Motion was made bv Nolte and seconded by Bornemeier to re tain Dr. Dietz as County Physi cian for 1959. Motion carried. Motion was made by Nolte and seconded by Bornemeier to re tain William P. Coakley, retro active to January 8th, 1959, as Clerk in the Surveyor's office for the calendar year, to be termin ated on a 30 day notice by either party. Motion carried. The Surveyor's office no longer has need of an office girl but the Commissioners consented to nay one-half of the salary for the Sheriff's office girl from the Surveyors Budget lor the re mainder of the current fiscal vear. The Board agreed to dispose of four old County Trucks for $450.00, as they are useless to the County. Motion made by Bornemeier, seconded bv Nolte to include the County Commissioners in the Workmans Compensation Insur ance. Motion carried. The Board checked the State Auditors Report for all County Offices. The report of the County Ex tension Work for the year 1958 was filed with the County Clerk. The appointment of Iola 3. Fuller as Deputy County Assessor by Clara Olson, County Assessor, was approved by the Board. The County Attorney filed his quarterly report with the Coun ty Clerk. Funeral Of Miss Anna Heisel Friday Friday morning at 10 o'clock funeral services for Miss Anna Heisel, veteran teacher of the Plattsmouth schools was held Friday morning at St. Luke's Episcopal church where she had been a member. Father Max Kors, rector of St. Mark's church of Omaha offic iated at the service bringing the last rites to the departed. During the service Mrs. Twyla Hodge presided at the organ. Burial was in the family plot at Oak Hill cemetery beside the members of the family gone on before. Pall bearers were old friends and former students, C. E. Hanson Former Resident Here John M. Hanson, Jr., 70, for mer resident of Omaha and Plattsmouth communities, died Thursday, January 15 at Ids home in Council Bluffs, follow ing an illness of some six mon ths. He was born in Manilla, la., February 15, 1888, son of John M and Margaret Johnson Han son. Surviving are: son, Delbert Hanson, Louisville; daughter, Mrs. Irene Doolcy, Missouri Val ley, la.; sister, Mrs. Leata Davis, Omaha; brother, Alfred Han son, Council Bluffs; four grand children, nine great grandchild ren. lie was preceded in death by his wife, November 19, 1958 at Omaha. Mr. Hanson had been engaged as a carpenter for twenty-seven years with Swift & Co. in Oma ha. He lived a number of years in Plattsmouth. Funeral services were at 2 o' clock this afternoon at the ' Caldwell-Linder funeral home, Rev. A. L. Embree, pastor of the First Methodist church officiat ing. Mrs. Hugh Slander, Jr., was soloist at the service and Mrs. Roy Cole organist. James Holoubek Laid To Last Rest Saturday Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Holy Ro.sary church for James Holou bek, 65, retired railroad worker, who passed away Tuesday even ing of a heart attack at his home. Rt. Rev. Joseph Przudzik, pas tor of St. John's church, con ducted the services that were at tended by a large number of the old friends. Burial was at the Holy Sepul chre cemetery with William Ccok, Wayne Dasher, James Johnson, Charles Janacek, Gus Kopp and 11. R. Pritchard serv ing as casket bearers. Rosary was held Friday even ing at the Caldwell-Linder fun eral chapel. Death Of Oscar Reynolds Pioneer Of Rock Bluffs Word has been received here by Judge J. II. Graves of the death of an old time schoolmate and friend, Oscar Reynolds, member of one of the pioneer families of Rock Bluffs, son of the late Dr. and Mrs. E. E. Rey nolds, who for many years re sided in that place. The family moved in 1895 to Beatrice and later to Shreveport, La. Oscar was born September 1, 1880 at Rock Bluffs and died December 5th at Shreveport, La. Death was caused by a heart attack. He was a chaplain in the army for a long period of years. He was in service in Manila at the same time that President Eisenhower, then a colonel was stationed there. Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds were a passenger on the transport, General Grant at the time Mrs. Eisenhower was going to Manila in Novemb.' 1936 to join her husband. Attends Funeral Services Of Uncle William Nelson was in Lincoln today where attended the fun eral services of an uncle, Julius W. Nelson, 86, who passed away Friday at his home. Funeral ser vices were at Ropers Havelock chapel. Rev. Merlin Dana offic iating. Burial was at Fairview cemetery. Casket bearers were nephews, John. Bill, Frank, Wal ter, Maynard Nelson, Elmer Han sen. Mrs. Nelson has been a resi dent of Havelock for 70 years. Ho is survived by two sons, Nor ville of Lincoln and William of Lincoln; two brothers.
