STAN'S BAKERY Stan & Jean & The Kids Home for Aged To Be Built by Presbyterians Nebraska Presbyterians today made known their intention to do their bit toward solving the problem of care for the aged. Ray Hansen, Omaha manufac turer who is chairman of the Presbyterian Welfare Founda tion, Synod of Nebraska, Incor porated, said that final-stage planning was under way to con struct a 48-unit pilot home for the aged. Although a definite location for the pilot project is yet to be chosen, Hansen said the Welfare Foundation's site selection com mittee had narrowed prospect ive land purchase down to "two or three" sites and would take option on a specific location by January 1st, 1959. Boyer, Biskup and Widstron, Omaha architects, are making final revisions of plans for the structure, Hansen related. An effort to raise approximat ely $300,000 among the state's Presbyterians will be commen ced during early 1959 to finance the project, he said. The pilot home will be the first of what is hoped by the Welfare Foundation to be a ser ies of small homes to be located at points throughout the state. 'The Welfare Foundation's plan is to specialize in small homes placed where they can best serve our senior citizen without taking him too far from I his principal place of life resi I dence," Hansen said. "Too, we wish to avoid the institutional i atmosphere of some of the larg j er homes." I Plans for the pilot home in ! elude full hobby, craft and ed ! ucational facilities, the chair : man stated, as well as consider ations for specialized medical care, convenience for ambula tory patients, and other innova tions for aged persons. Hansen said a public an nouncement of a site for the pilot home and complete infor mation on administrative plans would be made about January 1st. MM Merry iiffllChristmasi ,! .'JjftgSi!
