Todd Phone 2441 "The Bautist and Methodist choirs presented "Memories of' the Manner," a Christmas can tata by Roy E. Nolte, last Sun-1 day at the Baptist Church. Twelve numbers were sung by ; the 32 choir members. Soloists were Mrs. Carol Attebery and Cathy Stine. Edwin Wolfe was organist and director of the com bined group. ! The Union Public School tea- chers presented their pupils in a Christmas program entitled "Christmas Jewels" to a pack ed house last Friday evening. The welcome was by the kin-' dcrgarten class. A two-scene play was acted out in fine style. Other parts of the program were by the Little Thistledowns, the Fireflies, the Christmas Jew- j els and the choir. ! Recitations were by Pat Doo-j ley, John Garfield, Dean Ever ett, George Henderson, Lester Moore and Wesley Harrah. Pi anist was Mrs. Glen Hartman. Frank Anderson read a mes sage from Santa Claus who was a "little late" but who came in ! loaded with a basket of candy treats for the children. Mr. and Mrs. George Lechner and daughter Jeanie and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Lyons and chil dren of Nehawka visited the George Verch family in Omaha last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. George Stine and three daughters entertained at n. pre-Christmas dinner last Sunday at their home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jam es and two children from Bell evue. They all attended the Can tata in the evening. Mrs. Stine and daughters Ellen and Cathy were on the program. A number of Union families attended the vesoer service pre sented by the Nebraska City High School choir last Sunday afternoon. Several students from Union were in the 160-voice choir: Barbara Banning, Nan cy Crook, Mary Easter, Lynn Paasch, Sam Carneal and Dw- ight Splitt. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anderson had surprise guests last Sunday j ; night. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Collier ; jjjj (former coach in the Union j v school) and small daughter from j Santa Ana. Calif., visited. They!!'. I left early Monday to go to Minn esota to visit Mrs. Collier's par ents and later they will visit Mr. Collier's parents m Okla homa. They had also visited at (V i the home of a former student, "3 ; his parents living at Bennet where Mr. Collier had been a ! teacher several years ago. ij& ; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kecdy of ifX i Ashland will be Christmas din- ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. Carols were sung by the choir and audience, accompanied by Mrs. Carl Sut ton. Mr. Elmer Haas played 'The i Lincoln Holy City" on the Violin aeeom- i - panied by Mrs. Sutton. An Operetta "Merry Christ vas, Mister Snowman!" was given Thursday evening by grade school. Director was Mr. Gene Hazen and the accom panist was Mrs. Barry. The Girls Glee Club sang, accompanied by Mrs. Johnson. The PTA fur nished treats for the school Fri day. Mrs. Ellis. Mickle and Mrs. Ben Muencheau entertained the Mo thers and Daughters Council, Friday afternoon at the Mickle home. Mrs. Junior Kinney con ducted the business meeting. Mrs. II. M.
