Stopping in Lincoln for din ner, the Don Hollenbeck f.unily and Mrs Laura Hollenbeck drove to Denton Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hollenbeck. The WSCS of the Evangelical United Brethen Church met at the church pallors Wednesday afternoon. Following the busi ness meeting the devotions on the theme Thine is the Glory" were conducted by Ella Kunz. "We Love the Church, O God" was sunn as a .solo by C. Oeh- lerkiiiR. Rev. Ebinper led the dis cussion "How we Look at Our selves." Ella Kunz presented an article entitled "Clock and Ca kuuler Christians." Leona Wil ken, one of our Elmwood t iris, who has served as a missionary nurse at our Fspanola Hospital in New Mexico since it has been opened with the exception of two years nave a brief resume of the work being done there. She also answerd many Questions which the ladies asked her about The WKCS of Hie Methodist room Friday afternoon with the Church met in the Fellowship room Friday afternon with the president Mrs. Strabel presiding. Mrs. C. Bucknell gave a media tion. Mrs. Sid Moore was at the piano. Devotions 'A Decade of Human Rights" were given by Mrs. R. Parsell Mrs. Guy Cle ments gave the lesson, about the U. N. Mrs. E. Mendenhall asked permission to begin work ing on UNICEF for Halloween. Afternoon and evening study clubs will start about Oct. 1st. Reception for teachers, all four churches participating, will be Oct. 15th in the park if weather permits. Mrs. Horton gave a re view of Dr. Gerald Kennedy's "I Believe." Mrs. Lloyd Miller read the Ouarirennial Goals the hospital, the people and area i Palmyra is invited to our Kov- surroiuiding. The hostesses were Eleanor Fleishman and Esther Bornemeier. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fleish man returned Friday from their trip to Cheyenne, Wyo. to visit their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Taylor and son, onto Craig, Colo., to visit her sister, Mrs. Ralph Tleeve and family. They also visi;.ed Bruce and Dale Fleishman at Douglas, Wyo. A family gathering was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bed ric Wanek at Walton and was attended by Mrs. Elda Lenz and the Orville Lenz family. It was in honor of the birthdays of Helen Kunz, Orville Lenz and Coleman Lenz. The funeral of Horatio Erskine of Prairie Home was held Mon day, Sept. 15. Jerry Backemeyer is taking his 2nd year there and his course is Auto Mechanics. Duane Krecklow of Ft. Bragg, has received a promotion to Specialist 4th Class. The Arnold Schleiferts of Wa bash called on the Krecklows Sunday evening bringing a bir thday cake in honor of Mrs. Krecklow's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Win, Winkler of Lincoln came for a vLsit with his sister Mrs. L-ula Kunz and they also called on their friends, Maud and Je.-sie Creamer. Mrs. Harold Wilken's mother, Mrs. Otto Berlin of Ithica was here from Tuesday to Saturday helping her with canning. They canned 100 qts of fruit. The modern Mothers met with Mrs. Chas Bogenrief Dr. Knosp was present to talk to them a bout the bond issue for a new school. The B. B. 4-H cluub de monstrated how' to make ham burgers. The next meeting will be with Norma Hall and the members will be in costume for Halloween'. We were glad to learn Charles Marshall was able to come home from the hospital to recuperate, We are also glad to hear Irene Lcrenzen is improving although complete recovery will be a little slow. Mrs. Don Hollenbeck is in the hospital for observation. Harry Greene is home from the hospital and feeling much improved. The six year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bogenrief, Peggy Sue had the misfortune to fall down stairs and receive a bad bump on her head. She spent Saturday night in the hos pital where X-rays were taken. It was called a slight concussion. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Clements and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Clements drove to Omaha Thursday. Guy and Marie called at the Metho dist Hospital to see her cousin Arthur W. Lornez of Omaha, who has had a hard stroke. Ed and Marjory Miller have gone to Colorado to visit their son John and family. A baby daughter, Mary Ann, was born Sept. 12 to Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Seiker and twin sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wall of Greenwood on the 11th Mr. and Mrs. Turley Wall are the grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. W. Dennis, Tom my and Terry were Sunday eve ning dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Moomey of Ashland. After dinner they toured around town and report a number of new houses. Mr. and Mrs. Rob Kunz and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Bornemeier and Gary returned Wednesday evening, from visiting Fred Kunz and the Don Kunz family at Imperial; the Allen Abbotte at Keensburg, Colo.; relatives at Denver and enjoyed the moun tains. School News The freshmen were initiated by the seniors Tuesday of last week. A party and dance were held in the music room at night. Mr. Carlson is sponsor of the senior class. We lost our football gaim with Stella 12 to 15 last Friday. Our game next Friday will be a home game with Clatonia. Dr. Knosp gave part of the grade school their health exami nation on Monday. The churches sponsored a teacher's reception Monday eve ning. Applications for school insur ance have been sent home with each student. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Decker of Watsceka, 111., is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. John Farris. Dan Hoschar entered St. Mary Hospital in Nebraska City Tues day for observation on an injury to his back. On Friday, Sept. 5, at 8 p.m. at the Murray Christian Church Mrs. Neva Read became the bride of Mr. Clyde Hooper of Nebraska City. Rev. Victor Sch warz officiated. Mrs. Robert Far ris, daughter of the bride and Edwin Hooper of Omaha, son of the groom, stood up with the honored couple. A reception was held for the immediate family at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Farris following the cere mony. Mr. and Mrs. Hooper will be at home at 705'2 Central Ave., Nebraska City. Mr. and Mrs. Howard McBride of Springfield were visitors on Wednesday evening at the W. E. Hoschar home. Congratulations to Rev. and Mrs. Joe Barr on the birth of a girl Sept. 5. She has been named Mary Elizabeth. Mr. and Mrs. Harley Lloyd vacationed at Kearney last week. Mrs. Will Minford returned on Friday from Denver, Colo., where she has been staying for relief of her asthma. She is feeling much better. Mr. and Mrs. James Jenkins and Mrs. Ray Dill returned from a weeks vacation last week. They visited their daughter and Mr. and Mrs. John Dodge in Indian apolis, Ind., with sister-in-law, Mrs. John Jenkins in Chicago, and also their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Kensley Jenkins, Floence and Judith of Milwaukee. Wise. Mr. and Mrs. George Nickles were saddened by the death of a brother-in-law. J. D. Wurde man of Leigh. He died at an Omaha hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Gomer Worthan, Betty Jo and Diane of Omaha visited with Mr. and Mrs. Marion Worthan and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Worthan and sons last Sunday evening. The Christian Womens Fellow ship held their meeting Sept. 3. Oct. 2 was decided upon for their annual Church Supper. Ike Addleman of Gretna spent Friday and Saturday with the W. E. Hoschars. On Friday eve ning, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Sand and Butch. Mrs. Ed Bick ett and Sheryl called at the W. E. Hoschar home bringing home made ice cream and cake, in honor of Mrs'. Hoscharls birth day. Mrs. Bess McCoy visited a few days with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jacobson. She returned to her home at Villisca, Iowa on Sun day. Callers at the R. A. Noell home on Monday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Neil Munkros of Weep ing Water. Debbie Spangler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Spangler was honored on her 6th birthday Sept. 6. Guests were Linda and Roger Howard, Lorraine Beil, Beth Stones, Kathy Fitzpatrick, Patty and Margo Whipple, and Debbie's brother, Bill and Henry Spangler.
