NEWS FROM EAGLE Mrs. John Fischer Phone 7304 Fred Embree. eldest son of Stipt. and Mrs. I'aul Embree rfturnt'd to his parents' home, after spending a couple of mon ths with both his maternal and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Dietze and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Embree near Brok en How, near the former resid ence of the Embrees at Bur well. Ered helped with the farm work at the above homes. 4 mil es from each other. He will be a Junior in Eagle Iliiih School, this fall. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wulf and daughter of Ralston, were over night guests at the home of his father. Mr. Henry Wulf last Sat urday and Sundav. Diana and Stanley Root spent last week, visiting their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Herr, at Humboldt. They return ed home with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Root, Sunday evening who visited Mrs. Root's sister, and family for the day. and Joyce Harris of Lincoln call ed at the home of Mrs. A. H. Siekman Sundav evening. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Scatter good spent Sunday at the home of their daughter and husband. Rev. and Mrs. Wm. Doran and family at Hebron and attended the morninu worship service. The Melvin Adams family are enjoying a vacation trip to Min nesota. Mr. and Mrs. L. K. Swarts and son, Kern, made a business trip to Kearney Thursday. Dr. and Mrs. Russell Linn of Lincoln called at the home of Mrs. A. H. Siekman on last Sun day afternoon and also called on friends at Walton enroute home. Mr. rnd Mrs T.lovd Richards and daughter Myrna Jeanne re turned home last Thursday after enjoying a 2 weeks vacation and trip to Colorado. Linda Eanders, 9, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fanders had the misfortune to break her col lar bone recently. It is mending satisfactorily. The enuagement announcb ment of Shirley Morrison ap peared in the Lincoln paper re cently. She is the daughter tf Mr. and Mrs. Julius Morrison, now of Lincoln, former Eagle residents, a few years ago. The Midget baseball games Eagle vs. an Omaha team re sulted in the latter's victory Sat urday afternoon. The ball team is sponsored by the Lions Club and managed by Donald Sch midt. Mr. Pat Donlan and Don Schmidt furnished transportation for the players. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bird and visiting daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. William Denny and daughter of Des Moines, la., visited Pvt. and Mrs. Earle Sch midt and sfins at Copperas Cove. Muen chau and son, Keith Muenchau, attended the funeral services of their nephew Harvey Smith, at Slay ton, Minn., on last Tuesday afternoon returning home on Wednesday. A car collision 2 miles north of Eagle on last Wednesday re sulted in slleht injuries to Mr. Forrest Hardnock and Mrs. Ber ry, both of Alvo. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Dawdy of Lincoln, visited her sister and family, the Clarence Vaders on Saturday evening. Mrs. Robert Bradhorn.i Gene vieve Bickert) and son, Bobby, of Milwaukee, visited several days last week at the home of her sister and family, the Les ter Donlans and during the last weekend visited relatives at Call away and will return for another week's visit before returning home. Mrs. Emma Manners of Oma ha, visited at her son's home, Mr. and Mrs. Ravmond Manners and 3 daughters, last Saturday and Sundav. She is a former Eagle resident, several years ago. Mr. and Mrs. George Oberle and family were fishing in Minn, esota lat week. Mrs. A. H. Siekman and son Harold, enjoyed a trip to Tabor and Sidney Iowa, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Szwanek and daughter of Burwell, visited friends, Supt. and Mrs. Paul Embree and familv last Thurs day and continued on to Omaha to visit relatives. Miss Judy Szwanek remained at the Em bree home until the prents re turned Sunday evening, enroute for home. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Gay and family of Des Moines, Iowa who visited with Mrs. Laura West went home by train Fri day. John Fischer's visiting niece, Carol Fischer of Alvo, called at the home of Mrs. Lena Fis cher and also at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Llnder at Elmwood Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Winkler and family of St. Joseph, Mo., visited his two aunts and famil ies, Mr. and Mr. Henry Fleish man and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Gerhard a couple of days last week. They were enroute home after visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Winkler and other relatives at Kearney. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kahle and two girls of Kearney visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs-. Henry Fleishman last Tuesday. Donald Neeman son of Mr. Fred Neeman was a supper gu est at the home of his friend, Dwayne Fleishman and latter's parents, Henry Fleishman's on Sunday evening. He is enjoy ing a several weeks furlough aft er serving several months in Korea with the armed forces. He will be assigned in the U. S. Mr. and Mrs. William Trumble visited his cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Peterson at Omaha Sun day. The Petersons have been ill. Mrs. Lawrence Krecklow of Manley assisted her sisters, Mmes. Henry Fleishman, and Harvey Gerhard and attended to the late parents' household and property needs, on last Sat urday In Eagle. Mrs. Elmer Umland, Mrs. Floyd Althouse and Mrs. Ralph Ransford are all attending sum mer school at the University of Nebraska and the close of term will soon be at hand. Mr. and Mrs. George Althouse and son, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Althouse, and son, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Munn, near Waverly Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Schweg man, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sch wegman and Mr. and Mrs. Aug ust Schwegman have made fre quent visits to the College View Nursing Home recently, to visit their ill brother. Albert Sch wegman, who remains the same as he has been for several mon ths. The above folks also visit ed their sister, Mrs. Sophia Bur ge at Bennet, recently. Rev. John Woods, of Lincoln has conducted the morning wor ship services at the Eagle Meth odist Church during the absence of the regular pastor, Rev. Rob ert Bowne, who Is attending Theological school at Dallas, Tex. until Aug. 15. Mrs. Robert Bowne. and two sons, returned home after spen ding a few days last week, visit ing her parents, the Ray Miles at Scottsbluff. A miscellaneous bridal shower honored Janice : Frohlich at the Eagle Methodist Church. Friday Bridal games were played and two songs were sung by Misses Sharon DorUan and Beverly Ron hovde with Mrs. John Fischer at the piano. Janet is spending this week with Terry Wiszmann. Mr. and Mrs. Riley Davis, Kent, Karla and Gary of Lincoln were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jason Streight. Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Streight and Davey of Omaha spent Saturday after noon. Mrs. Myrtle Campbell and her grandaughter, Susie Kobler of Omaha spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Thiessen. Miss Elaine Fidler and Mrs. Nancy Lehl of Crete spent the weekend at the Jess Fidler home. Miss Marilyn Dennis of Omaha was a weekend guest of Miss Elinor Fidler. Miss Elinor Fidler entertained at a crystal shower for Miss Jayne Westerhoff of Kansas City, Sunday. A noon luncheon was served to eight guests and the bride-to-be. After the gifts were opened, the remainder of th afternoon was spent at the lake where the girls enjoyed water-skiing. Miss Westerhoff will be married to Ted Weldon of Valley, Aug. 17 at Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Bolden and children were Saturday din ner gaests of Mrs. Elinor Dahls trom at Ashland. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Carnicle were Mr. and Mrs. Merle Schwartz of Lincoln and Mrs. Pearl Flow ers and daughter Jullanna of Schuyler. Mrs. Larry Carnicle and Sandra spent the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Carnicle were evening visitors. Miss Janice Dill of Omaha spent the weekend at home with i her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ber nard Dill, James and Bernle. Misses Kay Watland and Sonja Goss of Omaha spent Sunday. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Thiessen were Mrs. Myrtle Campbell and Susie Kobler of Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Barney and Barbara of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thiessen and Gordon Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lackey and children of Fremont, Mr. and Mrs. Pies Proctor of Ashland. The group enjoyed seeing pic tures taken during the vacation trip to California by Mr. and Mrs. Barney. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rosencrans were evening visi tors. Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Ahlstrand entertained at a picnic supper on the patio in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Isle of Honolulu, Hawaii. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ahlstrand and daughter Ann of Omaha, Mrs. Anna Cupp and Mrs. Bertha Ahlstrand of Ralston.
