II EDITORIALS Breakthrough in Reducing? What mipht be the most important development in some years in the effort to reduce one's weight is reported by Dr. Cecelia Uosenfeld, West Coast opthalmolo pist, who has been using injections to curb the appetite and reduce weight in experi mental work with a limited number of American patients. Dr. Rosenfcld studied a method used and then last Spring observed his pio neer work first hand in Rome. His success by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons, of Rome, Italy, and her experiment results are both highiy promising. The Simeons theory is this: Most fat people are cavrying around "locked in fat." The body cannot utilize this fat as food. This fat can be freed and utilized by the body, through injections of chorio nic gonadotrophin an extract obtained from pregnant women, which frees reser ve fat of prospective mothers to feed the the foetus. . Decimse the body actually gets en ough food and calories, when injections make available this otherwise "locked in fat," the usual sensations of hunger are absent and there in no appetite problem. More interesting, healthy skin fat is not disturbed and so the haggard or drawn look, resulting from some diets, is not pro duced. Dr. Simeons believes that, rather than possible harmful effects, the system causes improvement in several fields, including those suffering with diabetes, high blood pressure, rheumatism, menstrual disorders, etc.' Down Memory Lane yr YEARS ACO J Robert L.
