Fathers Day, several families had a picnic dinner at the Dick Tritsch home in Murray. Mrs. Max Malone and chil dren of Waverly visited with Mrs. Kenneth O'Rourke and family Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Jardine of Grand Island were Saturday overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hurlbut and they joined a family Father's Day dinner at the Vernon Hurlbut home in Lincoln. A family picnic was held at the home of Orville Sandy Sun day. Dr. and Mrs. Julian Duncan and Georgia of Albuquerque, N. M., arrived Thursday at the ho. me of Mrs. Duncan's twin sis ter, Frieda Woitzel. Sunday a Woitzel family picnic was held at the Walter and Frie da Woitzel home. Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Walter Woitzel entertained Mr. and Mrs. Julian Duncan and daughter and Frieda Woitzel at dinner. The Mother-Daughter banquet sponsored by the Christian Chur ch was June U at the Legion Hall. Mrs. Robert Cohn of Lincoln was guest speaker on Israel's Democracy. One of Israel's re presentatives was with her. Mrs. Kenneth Carpenter was toastmistress. Mrs. Wayne How ard gave the toast to the dau ghters and Mrs. Alaura O'Rourke gave the toast to the mothers. The Greenwood Woman's Club met Tuesday for luncheon. Next meeting will be Sept. 8. Dorcas met Friday at the Christian Church with Mrs. A aron Wright as hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Hiles are parents of a girl born June 4 and has been named Wendy Lea. The only living grandpar ent is Mrs. Callie Hiles of Hall am. Mr. and Mrs. Hiles have 3 older girls Kay Stolp left for 6 weeks va cation spending 3 weeks with her father at Waterloo and 3 weeks with her grandparents at Eagle Bend, Minn. Joe Devore accompanied his son, son-in-law, and 2 grand sons, for a weeks fishing trip to Delta, Wise. Jack Condon accompanied his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Condon of Lincoln to Chi cago over the weekend where they visited relatives. Last Sunday, Debbie and Bec ky West were candlelighters at Mrs. Cloyd West's niece's wed ding held at Missouri Valley, Iowa. Sunday callers on Mr. and Mrs. Harry Marolf were Mr. and Mrs. Hubert McKitric of Wiley, Colo. The McKitrics also called on Mr. and Mrs. Glen Marolf. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pilfold called on Mrs. Marvin Pilfold at the Providence Hosuital Sat urday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kyles were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Kinney of Alvo. Sunday afternoon they called on Ronnie Kinney at the Lincoln General Hospital and Mr. and Mrs. Elton Keller at their home in Lincoln. The "Double B 4-H Club met at the home of Nancy Miller June 10. A demonstration was given by Nancy Miller and Bar bara Vogt on Ambrosia and Ap ple Crisp. Organization and the first meeting was held at the home of Onalee Kunz. The fol lowing officers were elected: pre sident, Nancy Miller; vice presi dent, Barbara Vogt; secretary, Onalee Kunz; reporter, Vickie Schomaker. Fifty mothers, children and WSWS members met at the Ev angelical United Brethren Chur ch June 11 to observe the an nual Summer Christmas Tree Program. The service was un der the direction of the secre tary of missionary education for children. Mrs. Don Freden burg. Christmas carols were sung; The Christmas Story as found in the scripture, Luke 2:6-16, was read by Marie Rosenow. Mrs. Fredenburg led in pray er. David Vogt and Harvy Vogt acted ?s ushers and took up the offering, which will be used for children's work. Rev. Ebinger showed a film entitled "Every where, Everywhere, Christmas Tonight". Mrs. Louis Koutsky assisted by Mrs. Laurence Stubbendick and Mrs. Orval Lena, supervi sed the games which the chil dren played on the lawn, follow ing the showing of the film. In the meantime, the WSCS conducted its regular business meeting. May 9 was the date when Mr. and Mrs. Orval Gerbeling became grandparents again. A boy, Scott Jeffrey, was born to their daughter, Gwendolyn, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Grayham. He was born at the University of Missouri Medical Center at Co lumbia: Mrs. Gerbeling was at their home taking care of the little twin girls, Debra and De nise. She now has them here in her home. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hardnock of Ft. Morgan, Colo., and Mrs. Ceil Cleary of Grand Island and Mrs. Anna Hardnock of Alvo Mrs. Gerbeling's mother, were all dinner guests at the Orval spent ?. week vacationing in Co lorado. Mrs. Robert Skilling of North Abington, Mass., visited with her father, Henry Kirk Sunday by long distance telephone. Mrs. Skilling was formerly Miss Max ine Kirk. Lola i Allen. Raymond is Grand Cu.s- 1 todian of the Masonic Order in Nebraska. Gerbeling home Monday. The Cottage Homemakers Ex tension Club met with Mrs. El don Oehlerklng June 10. Plans were made for a picnic in July. A report on "Alcoholism" and its effects was given by Mrs. Maynard Rippe. Guy Clements who has been ill and in the hospital was able to return home last Friday. Their daughter, Dr. Betty Clements, came from Phoenix, Ariz., but returned Saturday. Mrs. Grace Plybon was dis missed from Bryan Hospital Sat urday after taking a course cf about 10 days treatment. The Louisville Sunday School of the EUB Church held its an nual picnic at Elm wood City Park. The Sunday School of the Elmwood EUB Church were gu ests. Mrs. Dale Fleishman reports that the Rueter annual reunion will be held June 22 at Bethany Park in Bethany. June 13 was the date of the birth of the new boy at the Paul Eveland home. He has 2 brothers and one sister. Robert Lannin was one of the 147 members of the class gradu ating from the Milford Trade School, June 11. His course was "Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Appliance Service." Mrs. Luella Young of Ellens burg, Wash., and her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Briggs of Bassett, spent Thurs day with Mrs. Young's sister-in-law, Mrs. Mable Wood. Dinner guests Sunday at the home of Alma Clements were Dr. and Mrs. Bert L. Story and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Clements of Lincoln, also Mrs. Ruth Monning and Mrs. Emily Gonzales. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wilken Carol and Allen visited at Ith aca June 8 and brought her nephew Steven Frahm, home with them. On Thursday, her mother, Mrs. Otto Berlin, came and took Steven home with her on Friday. Lt. Col. and Mrs. Paul A. Legg and Andy and Paula have re turned from a three year stay in France and are visiting at her mother's, the Watson Jones'. They will now be located in Sac ramento, Cal. This community was saddened by the death of Mrs. John (Alma) Hay, a former resident here. After a lingering illness she died June 14. Funeral "was here at the Christian Church June 17. She leaves her husband and a son, Steven. Betty Neilsen's roommate, Miss Elaine Bailey of Stratton was a visitor at the Swain Neil sen's. On Sunday afternoon they attended the silver wedding an niversary of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Algaard, Weeping Water. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Stock and family of Chicago were the incentive for a Stock family re union which was held at the Rue ben Stock's Sunday. The Marion Stock's went on to Estes Park and Colorado Springs. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Maud and Jessie Crea mer were cousins, Mrs. Ethel Smith of Waukegan, 111., Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harbert and daughter, Mrs. Mamie Gammon of Glenwood. Also Mr.and Mrs. Ralph Creamer. Callers in the afternoon were Fred Creamer and the Wendell Bratt family. The WSCS met Friday. Mrs. Eric Charling gave the lesson, titled "Changing Patterns in the March of Mission." The American Legion Auxili ary met June 12 at the Legion Hall. ASHLAND Mrs. Ivan Armstrong Mrs. Glen Fosnot and Jennifer of Lincoln spent Thursday with Mrs. Fosnot'.s parents, Mr.and Mrs. Harold Richards. Mr. and Mrs. Richards snent Friday at the Fosnot home. The Fosnot family has since gone to Mon terey, Calif., where Mrs. Fos not will enter Monterey College for summer session art work. Mrs. Earl Ueberrhein was a guest of the East Ashland Wo men's Club at the home of Mrs. Dwight Beetison Wednesday aft ernoon. That evening, Mr. and Mrs. Ueberrhein and Lyle visit ed Mr. and Mrs. Frank Short east of the Platte. A steak frv was enjoyed at the A. D. Bachman lawn Sunday. Their guests were Mr.and Mrs. C. W. Bryant of Council Bluffs, and Mr. and Mrs. William Mason and fimily. Mrs. Noble Newsham called on Mrs. John Fox Friday, Mr. and Mr:;. Raymond Judds and daugh U rs of Lincoln visited there Sun day.
