Mrs. Harold Timblin and Bon nie attended the May Fete, part of the Commencement exercises at Doane College at Crete, Sat urday. The Double Deck Pinnocle Club met with Martha Detmer at Havelock Wednesday after noon, Mrs. Ellis Nickel received the high prize, Mrs. Carl Sutton, second and Mrs. George McKay low. Mrs. Mabelle Elliott and her mother Mrs. Wilson were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Doran and family at Eagle. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bradley and ,two children of Leabon, Kansas were Sunday and Sun day night guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rosenow. They drove their car as far as Omaha and took the train on a trip East, Mr. Bradley has a sister in Chicago and brother, New Jer sey. The Teen-Age Sewing and Cooking Center met at the home of Jean Marie Rieckman May 29th. Project books were dis tributed and discussed. Games were played and lunch was ser ved by Mrs. Rieckman. The next meeting will be at Lynne Root's June 25th. Kathryn Elliott and Jean Rieckman will have the Recreaton. Lynne Root and Ca rolyn Vincent will give a de monstration on No-Knead Rolls. News Reporter Carolyn Vincent Mr. and Mrs. Harold Timblin and family were invited to Mr. and Mrs. Rheo Timblin's and family for a wiener roast Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Timblin and Pamela were at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nickel and Keith Sunday. Monday morning the friends and neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Timblin worked the ground and planted their corn. Those helping were: Mr. Char les Ganz; Lloyd Rueter, Lester Mickel, Rheo Timblin, Harold Timblin, Ralph Dreamer, Ken dall Dimmitt, Laurence Bell, Lo well Bell, Ellis Mickel, Harold Nickel, Maurice Robertson, Ralph Snavely, Elmer Rueter and Earnest Leaver. Mrs. Harold Timblin, Mrs. Willard Timblin and Mrs. Earnest Leaver served dinner in the field to the men. The 4-H Orioles met at the home of Keith Nickel May 31. Chip Dreamer gave a demonst ration of "Showmanship of a cow." Rombert Roelofszf gave the parts of an engine and how they worked. The topic of the meeting was "Valve Service of Tractor." Mr. Charles Ayers and daugh ter Mrs. Frank Hempke of Mur dock have gone to Minneapolis, Minn. The left by train Tues day and expect to be back some time this week. Mr. Ayers went for a check up and is reported to be getting along fine. Mr. Ayers and Mrs. Hempke are staying with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Renli, Mr. Ayers Daughter Jose phine. MLss Susie Leaver has been staying nights with her grand ma Ayers while Mr. Ayers is in Minn. Mrs. Charles Ayers and Mrs. Earnest Leaver and daughters went to Mr. Frank Hempke's of Murdock awhile Sunday even ing to visit with Mrs. Charles Hempke and son of Sidney, Ne braska, they plan to be here until the middle of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Jerald Reber had as their weekend guests their daughter, De Vee, Mr. and Mrs. Comstock of Adair, Iowa and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Henning of Ral ston, daughter, Shirley, was a Sunday guest. Mr. Arthur Roelofsz helped the Boy Scout Troup 242 plant Pop Corn on a vacant lot in town Monday evening Mr. Roe lofsz furnished the tractors. The Boy Scouts and MYF went rol ler skating at Ashland Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Heier, Mrs. Tal ' Edwards and Mrs. Wilson Howe furnished the transportation. Mrs. Earnest Leaver and Su sie attended a piano recital at the Christian Church at Ash land at four o'clock Sunday afternoon. This was the recital of Mrs. McCartney, James Hem pk's daughter, Linda participat ed in this event, she is a niece of Mrs. Leaver's. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rueter of Grand Junction, Iowa were at Mr. and Mrs. Don Rieckman's home Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Stock and family of Murdock were Friday night supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Don Rieckman and family. The Ashland Saddle Club in vited the Salt Creek Rangler's Saddle club to a Wiener Roast and picnic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Rieke Sunday. Miss Judy and Jeanette Weichel, Miss Nancy and Pat Roelofsz and Miss Susie Cook and Mr. and Mrs. John Weichel attended. Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Lloyd and family have been residing in Ruth Taylor's house in town have moved 34 Mi. South of town in the place formerly oc cupied by Mr. and Mrs. Tal Edwards and family. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Lang and daughters of Wolback, Nebraska have moved into the house for merly occupied by the Lloyd family. Mies La Von Howe came home Thursday afternoon and return ed to school Friday afternoon. Mr. Rinker is a nephew of NEHAWKA Mrs. F. 0. Sand Phone 2708 Barbara Chandler returned home Monday from Lincoln Gen eral Hospital where she had foot surgery May 20. Mrs. Chand ler stayed with the R. G. Yost family to be near her daughter. Mrs. Boyd Mayfield, Mrs. Kent Balfour and Mrs. Vance Balfour entertained at a coffee Wednesday morning at the May field home honoring Mr. Jack Hines on her birthday. Guests were neighbors and relatives. Mrs. Robert Vought, Kansas City, was a guest the past week of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kropp and Mrs. Sarah Kropp. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hol stein, Lincoln, and Clarence Sch madeke, Weeping Water, were out-of-town guests at the 4-H luncheon at the home of Evelyn Wolph Wednesday. Mrs. Hol stein, with the state extension office in Lincoln, is now on crutches. She has undergone several operations since she was in a car accident four years ago. Schmadeke is Cass County A gent. Mrs. Amelia Balfour enter tained the Eastern Star Kensing ton at her home Tuesday after noon. Mrs. Fred Rehmeier had charge of the work group and articles were made for the Mas onic home at Plattsmouth. Mem bers wrote notes to a member who is 111, Mrs. Walter Little. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Will Ost and Mrs. Emma Nutzman. Mrs. Vina Beatty attended the Nemon Card Club Friday after noon at the home of Mrs. Joe Hartley of Nebraska City. Dr. R. R. Anderson returned to his home Wednesday from St. May's hospital where he under went surgery recently. He is at the office part time. Tommy Mitchell, 6, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Mitchell, re turned home Friday from Clark son Hospital where he had treat ment for a severe ear infection. He will return in a week for a check-up and if his condition is satisfactory he will have his ton sils and adenoids removed. Danny Johnson, 11, son of Al bert Johnson, fell from the car fender Saturday and the car ran over both his legs at the knees. He suffered torn tendons and must remain in bed a month. Danny was helping his father drive cattle to the pasture and as they went down a steep grade he slipped from the car fender. His father was driving. He was taken to Brown Hospital and re turned home the same day. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Johnson have moved from the Elmer St- oll tenant house to a farm near Talmage. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Balfour of Union and Mrs. Helen Petersen, Nebraska City, were guests on Friday of Mrs. Amelia Balfour. Mrs. .Petersen remained over night. More than 215 persons were Mrs. Fairfield. Clayton Fair field and Alice Vernoy came Fri day to visit with the Rinker's. Several young folks from Alvo are attending "Miracle Camp" at the ' Callahan Church this week. Mr. Harold Bornemeier of Murdock wil be one of the leaders. He graduated from the Grace Bible Institute at Omaha and plans to be a Missionary in South America. Mr. and Mrs. Don Rieckman and family were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Elling son of Plattsmouth Sunday eve ning. After Wednesday of this week Mrs. Earl Keller will be at the home of her daughter Mr. and Mrs. Lester Lynch and daughter at Omaha. Miss Karen Howe was an over night guest of Mr. and Mrs. Don Zimmermann and family at Lincoln Monday night. Mr. William Coatman of Elm wood was a Sunday guest of his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Zoz and Mike. Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Martin Zoz entertained Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hedges of Red land, California: Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Rennolds of Topeka, Kan sas and Dr. O. E. Lynn underwent major heart surgery and is making a satis factory recovery. The Dodsons are former residents of Ericson and the Dahstens are now living there.
