It was a game in which I'lattMiiouth surged hack in the second half to erase part of a l'l-li halttime deficit and perhaps come within one play of tiring or winning. The Blue Devils in two plays went from their 20-yard line to the WesUside 25 as the name end ed. They might have pulled the game out of the fire if they could have got time called after a 59 yard nass play with about '.'A) seconds left. But, with time still running they were able to pet ( just one more play in, a five , yard pain by Quarteroack Gary lloran. Before the action-packed fin ish, the two teams had put in nearly 48 minutes of rugged play with Plattsmouth winding up on the long end of the statistics. 347 net yards to 328, but losing in the important points column. Somewhere under the pileup is Halfback Kenny Dasher who carried the final The Blue Devils scored first on the longest run of the night. Jerry S.iyers ran left end on a reverse, eluded two tacklers in the flat with a nice change of pace and then out-shimmied and out-ran the safety man to score from 73 yards away. John K011fr.it had run right tackle 24 yards on the preceding play. His team got possession when Larry Cundall recovered a fumble on the 8. A back-in-motion penalty then made the TD yardage 93. lloran was stopped running right end on the extra point try So, it was G-0 with 5:40 left In the quarter. It took Westside only a minute to equalize. Steve Dickinson ran the kiekoff back to his own 45, then broke through to go 55 yards for the TD on a disputed play. Westside apppeared to be offside- to the play and Plattsmouth Coach Burdette Hansen protest ed vigorously. Westside plunged on the extra point try. made the yardage but was offside. Its second try fail ed. Kick-off Recovery The score was 6-6 for only a few moments. Plattsmouth let the ensuing kiekoff roll dead on its ? 2 -yard line where Westside fell on the free ball. Phil Brown plunged for the TD and the extra point for 13-6. Westside went 68 yards for its next score on the first series of the second quarter. Brook Brew er had run 31 yards to the Pattsmouth 33 as the 1st quar ter ended. Dickinson got 9, Brewer 5 and Dickinson 15 for the score and a 10-6 score. Plattsmouth had to ride West side's Ron Saffer out on the Blue Devil 5 just as the half ended. Saffer had run 45 yards with an intercented pass. The Blue Devils came back in tho third quarter to march 63 yards from their own 24 to the Westside 13 only to lose the ball on a fumble. The first was an apparent offside by two linemen for West side when it started a 55 yard scoring play. The other was award of the ball to Westside on its own 13 on an out-of-bounds fumble. Gary Horan handled the ball for Plattsmouth, ran left, fumbled and several players had their hands on the ball (but appar ently not for firm possession) before it went outside. It would seem that the origi nal ball carrier was the only one to "have possession" on the Play. These were only fleeting mom ents in the game but they do point up an apparent lack of uni formity of skill in officiating. At one point in a Plattsmouth game this year, this writer took time to watch the headlinesman for a stretch of several plays. At times he did not look to the yards and downs markers to make sure the down stick was accurately placed. Once, the young man on the marker was two full yards off but hastily corrected himself in time. It's sour grapes to gripe about officiating but perhaps some commentary is necessary before there can be improvement. Jeanette Albert was named homecoming queen at Louis ville a week ago Friday. Her attendants were Bonnie Mc Grew, Nancy Gauer, Janice Gra ham and Anita Little. Brian Biggs was king at the dance which followed the game. His attendants were Dan Work man, Orval Robbins, Dennis Barnes and Ken Henson. INDIA PAYS. Silver shipments, valued at $3, 000,000 were recently received in this country from India.
