Mrs. Kenneth Redden was elected secretary and news re porter for the year. The present secretary, Mrs. Dale Rickard, is moving. New members are Mrs. Julian Johnson and Mrs. Russell Ward. A basket supper will be held July 14 at 7 p. m. at the Jack Lindsey home. The Cass County Cooks and Cass County Homemakers met Monday at the Methodist church at 2 p. m. Mary Lou Coster led the Amer ican flas salute and Sandra Turner, the 4-H pledge. There was group singing. Each pro ject was discussed. Lois Whittinston read "Our Flag" and devotions were by Sandra Stapert, who read, "The Bible is the Rock on Which Our Republic Rests", and Jackie Dodson read "The Bible". Hostesses were Carol Ruys, Judy Atteberry, Mary Lou Bri ley. Next meeting will be July 8 at the church. There were 49 num bers on the program including piano, accordian and junior and senior band numbers. Sarah and Thurmond Hinds of Lincoln spent three days the past week with her grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kroop and Mrs. Sarah Kropp. The American Legion Auxil iary will meet Tuesday, July 9 at the auditorium. There will be installation of officers and Jane Dietl will give a report of her experience at Girls State. John Hansen of Nehawka is grandfather. , Police Court Collects Huge Total In Fines Police Court had a busy week, with Judge J. H. Graves' re port of July 6, showing fines of $443 and costs of $60 collected and turned over to the city treas urer. The past week has brought to the court a larae number of cases, some for violations of city ordinances, venerable with age and forgotten by many of the present generation. A complaint for violation of the curfew ordinance was filed against Harold Hallstrom and Russell Stoll. both 14, charged with being out beyond the hour of 10 p. m. The boys were plac ed on probation and to report to the police department for a 30-day period. Leland M. Vice was arrested by Officers Tesch and Chap pell and charged with illegal pos session by a minor and intoxi cation. He received a fine of $25 on the first count and $10 on the second for a total of $39.50. A trip of young men, who had journeyed to Missouri to secure fireworks for the celebration of the national birthday, were ap prehended by the local police. Members of the group were Don Allbee, Loren Fleischman and James Holoubeck. They were turned loose on payment of the court costs of $4, but lost the fireworks. Jimmie F. Sanders of Auburn was charged by Officers Tesch and Chaopell with making a left turn at Chicago Avenue and 7th street. He received a fine of $1 and costs. Samuel J. Waite was charged by Officer Chappell with speed ing at 50 miles an hour in a 35 mile zone and noisy muffler. He received fines of $15 and $10 for the offense. Collin C. Carnickev of Offutt Air Base received a fine of $20 and costs for reckless driving. He was arrested bv Officers Dunlap and Chappell. Victor Nelson of Bellevue was arrested bv Officers Chappell and Tesch and charged with on erating a motor vehicle while under the influence of liauor. He was given a fine of $100 and costs or a total of $104. Jesse M. Baier was arrested by Officers Tesch and Dunlao, with expired intransit license. He was given a fine of $5 and costs, total $9. Charles R. Philnot of Cedar Creek was arrested by Officers Tesch and Dunlao. charged with consuming alcoholic liquor on the public highway. He received a fine of $15 and costs or a total of $19. Wasson Dr. and Mrs. Gordon Wasson of this citv were called to Kan sas City, Kan., June 20th by the death of Floyd D. Wasson, 55, father of the local veterinarian The father had been taken ill some time ago. Funeral services were held on June 24th at Bonner Springs, Kans. Mr. Wasson was born In Down ing, Mo., but for the greater part of his lifetime has resided in Kansas Citv. Kan. He is survived bv the widow and one son. Dr. Wasson of this city. Pinch-Hit Single Gives South 7-6 Edge In 12 Innings A pinch-hit single by Don Kraft which produced two runs in the 12th innine gave the South a 7-6 decision over the North in a Platte Valley League all-star came played Wednesday at Waterloo. Kraft's timelv clout came aft er Gary Relmers walked and Bud Smith singled and stole sec ond with none out. The North had taken a 6-5 lead in top half of the 12th when Merle Heldt singled, went tn second on a sacrifice and scor ed on an infield error. One of the game's big blow? was Ken Korinek's grandslam homerun for the south in the third Inning.
