They were there for the 50th anniversary of Mrs. Peterson's sister, Mrs. J. A. Vering and Mr. vering. Another sister, Mrs. Clara Engstrom of La Mesa, Peterson and will visit about a week with the Petersons and other relatives. On Saturday, Mrs. J. A. Vering came from her home in Jamestown, Kans., to spend a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Peterson and Har old entertained at Sunday din- J. A. Charley Welton is very ill and in the Lincoln General Hospital at Lincoln. His sisters, Mrs. Clarence Peterson, Mrs. Clara Engstrom of La Mesa, Calif., Mrs. J. A. Mr. and Mrs. Darold Miller were Tuesday evening visitors of Mr. and Mrs. George Born man. Mrs. Delbert Humston was in Murdock on Saturday afternoon for the 80th birthday of Mrs. Rose Johansen. Mrs. Alfred Deal entertained in honor of Mr. Deal's and Gar ry's birthdays on Tuesday eve ning. Those other than the hon ored ones were Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Hauschild and family of Louisville, Miss Sara Lorenson of Weeping Water, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Snodgrass of Weeping Wat er, Miss Marilyn Cox and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Buell and Ray Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mansfield attended the Douglas County Fair at Waterloo on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Back man of Cheyenne, Wyoming, came Thursday to visit rela tives and friends in and around Ashland. They will also go to Iowa to visit relatives before returning home. The Ashiand Saddle Club had their campout Saturday night and Sunday at the A. D. Back man farm. Mrs. Wayne S warts and Miss Carol attended the Eastern Star Initiation at David City. Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Estes and Mr. and Mrs. William Stev ens and sons from Lincoln had supper with Mr. and Mrs. Ray mond Nelson on Wednesday night. Harold Weston of Lincoln spent Sunday afternoon and evening with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Weston and Eugene. Miss Carol Swarts started her fall term at the University School of Medicine in Omaha. She had spent the -past week with Mr.and Mrs. Wayne Swarts. Stanley Swarts has started hisi senior year at the University of Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. John Jones and boys enjoyed a picnic on Sun day at the Austin Finlay farm at Louisville. Sunday visitors at the Martin Stenberg home were Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Weborg of Pender, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Sten berg and daughters of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Buckmaster. Henry Bond entered the Lin coln General Hospital last Fri day for observation and treat ment. Mrs. Bond and family cal led to see him Sunday after noon and at that time he was in traction. f ' Mr.' J and Mrs. Oliver Felker and family ere in Waverly on Sunday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Bert Drake. Mrs. Stella McLaughlin of Elmwood spent from Monday until Thursday at the Art Box home. Lewis Laughlin of Lincoln and John Laughlin left Monday morning for Sturgis, South Da kota, where they plan to stay until the first of next week. Mr. and Mrs.Glen Marolf of Greenwood visited Mr. and Mrs. Milton Backman on Thursday evening. Mrs. Keith Weston and girls spent the weekend with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Schulz at Wahoo: Sunday evening supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arley Barger were Mr. and Mrs. John Kuehl and Mr. and Mrs. Art Wilhms of Millard. Dr. and Mrs. W. E. Ziegen bein and sons of Crete were! weekend guests and Orvilte Sandy was a Sunday visitor in the Harold Richards home. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Stander honored Charles on his 11th birthday at a party on Sunday afternoon. The invited guests were members of the Ash Grove School, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Ger- gen and girls of Dunbar and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Miller and Deb bie. Mrs. Stander served ice cream, cake and Kool Ade to the group. Mrs. Delbert Humston and Mrs. Clinton Jones are attend ing the Adult Homemaking Clas ses at the Ashland High School. A group of - friends had a charivari on Mr. and Mrs. La vern Klipp Friday evening. Cass4-H Youth Enter Ak-Sar-Ben Stock Show OMAHA, NEBR. Cass coun ty will be well represented at Ak-Sar-Ben to be held Septem ber 21 to 30 at Omaha. Harry B. Coffee, a Governor of Ak-Sar-Ben and Chairman of the civic organization's Stock Show Committee, announced that entries were received this week from Cass County, through the office of County Agent Clarence Schmadeke. The 4-H Baby Beef show will be held September 24, 25, 26, 27, and 28. Other features are: Dairy Cattle Show, September 22; Sheep Show, September 24; National Quarter-horse Show, September 23 and 24; Nebraska State Hereford Show, September 23-27.
