Many Meets Of Weeping Water Groups Mrs. Lewis Baker Tel. 182 The W. S. C. S. met Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church parlors for their Septem ber meeting. The business meet ing was conducted by Mrs. G. B. Smith. The afternoon open ed with a song. The reports ind correspondence were read and discussed. The church family night was announced to be Monday eve ning, September 17, in the church basement. Plans were made to entertain the teachers of Weeping Water schools. An invitation from the Nehaw- ka W. S. C. S. to meet with them on Wednesday, September 12, was accepted. Arrangements were made to visit the Crowell Home in Blair on October 12. The lesson and devotions were given from the new year books. The general subject was The Spirit of Christ for All of Life" with "The Island Awaits His Word", as the theme. Mrs. E. A. Worman conduct ed devotions with song, read ings and prayer. Mrs. Carl Rictor gave the les son, presenting the goals of the beginning quadrennial. Mrs. El vira Bussell gave some inter esting facts on Home Missions. Mrs. W. D. Linker in th ab &3nce of Mrs. Sam Hughes, gave a brief talk on stewardship. Mrs. Worman, assisted by Mrs. Tom Colbert was in charge of the birthday table. Decorations included a lovely birthday cake, nut cups and place cards. Of the eight to be honored, five were present. Mrs. Richard Lau ritzen. Ms. John Groesser, Mrs. W. W. Jameson, Mrs. Vincent Rehmeier and Mrs. John Nich ols. The hostess served refreshments. ;King. Ways and Means: Mrs. Lloyd Barkhurst, Mrs. Carrol Wright, Mrs. Vern Starr; Noti fication: Mrs. Clarence Achmad eke and Mrs. Don Rutledge!. The program for the coming year will include a halloween party, hand writing analysis candy, cookie exchange, color ed slides, book reviews, break fast, progressive dinner and re union picnic. . ! The group voted to continue the birthday icoffees for the next year. Coffees to be held this month are for Mrs. Amick, Mrs. Saxton and Mrs. John Groesser, a past member. Three new members, Mrs. Stanley Miller, Mrs. Bob Rob erts and Mrs. Richard Stone were voted into the club. In correspondence a thank you note was read from Joe Smith thanking the club for the safety award they presented him on his safety essay. A thank you note was also read from Mrs. Frank Cook. Other topics were discussed before the meeting adjourned. The October meeting will be a Halloween Party. Mrs. Fred Saathoff will be hostess and Mrs. Francis Thoren co-hostess. All members are to arrive in costume. Those not so will be fined. Games will be played. Greenwood Woman's Club Has Meeting Rose McDonald Tel. 2448 The Greenwood Federated Wo man's Club meet at 2 p. m. Tuesday afternoon at the Metho dist Church. The officers were hostesses of the tea. They are Mrs. Chloe Hurlbet, President, Mrs. Mildred Comstock, vice president, Mrs. M. L. Shupe, secretary, Mrs. Marie Pilfold, treasurer. After the business meeting slides of Florida were shown by, Mrs. Mable Lambert, which were very interesting and enjoy ed by all. Eleven members were present. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Baker, Sandy and Randy were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Hennings and boys, Den nis and Stevie. In the after noon they drove to Omaha where they spent some time at River- view Park and the airport watch ing big transport planes. Ben Olive, son of Mrs. B. A Olive, left Saturday for Ann Har bor, Michigan, where he will be gin his senior year at the Uni versity. Mrs. James Kivett, Mrs. Hen ry Knaup and Mrs. Tom Col bert attended the funeral- of Mrs. L. K. Eidenmiller in Elm wood on Thursday. ' BAND MOTHERS CLUB The Weeping Water Band Mother's Club met Monday eve ning at the school house. Mrs. Louis Noble, president, presided. Mr. Eugene Sundeen, musical director, gave the treas urers report and said they had bought some new suits for the band. Musical entertainment for the evening was provided by Dickie Elliott, who played a french horn solo" Cavatina" accompanied by Maribelle Elliott; and Mary Alice Wood playing an oboe solo "Morris Dance" and accompan ied by Susan Wood. Mrs. Noble reported on the stand the Club had at the fair She announced that Ras Lau- ritzen, Jr., Bill Finley, Lloyd Lane Harold Elliott and Stanley Wood were responsible for get ting it set up. It wes discussed and decided the amendment concerning the dues be changed to read, dues $1.00 per year, instead of $2.C0 per year. Mrs Claire Beach was appoint ed as chairman in charge of contacting new members to join the club. The group also decided to by a new alto clarinet for the band. The meeting was then adjourned. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Bailer and family enjoyed a family picnic Sunday afternoon in the park at Fremont. Those attend ing were Mr. and Mrs. Carl de- Wall, Mr. and Mrs. Albert de Wall and Albert of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Grybsky Mr. and Mrs. Fred Snyder, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schuelke and Darleen, Mr. and Ms. Jim Michell, all of Fremont. In the evening they all went to the Snyder home and enjoyed movies. j The Friendship Circle Home Extension Club will meet Wed nesday afternoon the 26th at 1:30 p. m., at the home of Mrs. Affenbacker. Everyone is asked to bring recepts for left over dishes. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Brokhage had as dinner guests at their home Sunday afternoon, their granddaughtr, Mrs Louie Rud man and great grandson, of Lin coln. : Mrs. Marilyn Condon, Mrs. Marie Claycomb, Mrs. June Rouse, -and Mrs. Helen Tennet, went tQtElmwood Friday after noon and gave blood fori the Cass County blood bank. ' - Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth O' Rourke;and family IJeft Friday evening for Cedar; Falls, Iowa, to attend the funeral of his uncle, Robert O'Rourke, Satur day morning. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Robinson of Ashland, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bulling of Darcey and Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Osburn of Lincoln were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Claude Osburn. Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Corrigan were overnight guests Saturday at the E. L. McDonald' home.. Mrs. Covington, brother of Mr. McDonald, was released -from Clarkson Memorial Hospital in Omaha Saturday morning, after undergoing surgery two weeks ago. They left for their home in Kearney Sunday. The members of St. Joseph Altar Society met at the home of Mrs. Dale Stander Wednes day afternoon. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. Lowe, with a prayer. During the meeting a bake sale was voted on. There were eleven members present. McDonald attended an appliance meeting in Lincoln Wednesday evening. A Navy plane recently flew at a speed of 1,015 miles an hour. Frank Mills and Lyle Buell ar rived home on Saturday for a ten-day furlough from their Ar my camp. On Thursday Mr. and Mrs. James Mills had company from Maine and Vermont. The two ladies were cousins of Jim's. They left for their homes on Tuesday. Mrs. Rut ledge, out going president and Mrs. Wayne Pedersen, in-coming president were hostesses. Following the delicious meal, Mrs. Pederson presided over a short business meeting. Mrs. Lewis Baker, secretary, read the minutes and called the roll. Fifteen members were present. H. Ruser of Ogallala, Mrs. Fred Saathoff and John Saathoff, having ice cream and cake at her home. On Saturday, Teddy and Alice Jochim, Heather Stacy, Bar bara and Beverly Finley, Pat ty Wade, Suzanne King, Sandy Baker, Robin snriner, Jimmy and Ricky Stratton were all her guests at the city park. PLYMOUTH GUILD The Plymouth Guild met Fri day afternoon in the Congre gational church basement. Mrs. Bob Roberts gave the devotions and Mrs. Clarence King, the lesson, entitled "A Church in the Marshall's." Mrs. King who is vice-president, conduct ed a short business meeting. Fourteen members were present, two of which are new members, Mrs. Raymond Freeman and Mrs. Darrel Mather. Miss Eliza beth Domingo and Mrs. King were hostesses.
