A finance com pany furnished the sheriff with Payne's Omaha address and his arrest followed. The car was impounded by the sheriff. Sheriff Solomon gave credit to Hob Hirz for his alertmess in taking the 'license number of the car as it sped from the driveway from the Thompson home. Payne is the father of three children, Christensen is the fath er of four. Both have served in the military service and have no previous records. They both are emoloyed by a stockyards commission company in Imaha. Christensen is a former Oma ha resident but moved to Cass County last year. All stolen property was re covered at the Christensen home and is being held at the Sher iff's office. Ed Gradovillc !n Old Timers Among the members of the "Old Timers' team participat ing in their baseball battle at the Omaha Stadium Sunday was Edward Gradoville of this city, long active in amateur baseball circles in this part , of the state. Ed was for many years one of the leading catchers of Ne- j braska, playing with the old f Red Sox and various Platts I mouth teams down through the I years. He still retains his great inter est in the great national past time, when "opportunity affords makes trips back to Chicago to see the White Sox and Cubs when they play at home. Missouri River Boaters Plan Rendezvous Missouri river boat club en thusiasts from' Omaha, Nebr., City and Lincoln are planning a grand cruise and picnic to be held at the Plattsmouth city park on Sunday, September 16th. In case of rain it has been arranged that the event will be held on the succeeding Sunday. The Plattsmouth harbor is lo cated seven blocks east and two south of the Burlington under- pass at the foot of Main Street handling the craft expected to be here. The meeting was being held to promote "safety and alert ness on a state wide basis." Mrs. Doris A. Union Makes Change In Workers At "66" Union represenatives were in Plattsmouth last week where they stopped work on the new Phillip's "66" Station for a short time until the contractor made some changes in his work force. Al Huebner, owner and builder of the new station, reports that union men forced the laying off of two or three workers on the contract, including his own son, Dan, and replaced them with Union men. Following the exchange of workers, the building is still pro gressing rapidly and will be ready for occupancy within two weeks.
