The occasion was to help Bob cele brate his birthday. MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE VILLAGE OF ELMWOOD, NEBRASKA The Chairman and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elm voccl, Nebraska, met in a special meeting on the 26th day of July, 1958, at 7:30 o'clock P. M. at the Clerk's Office in the Fire House in said village in accordance with the notice duly served upon the members of said board. The meeting was called to or der by the Chairman and on roll call the following answered as tein? present: Chairman Omar Bcrnemeier, Trustees: Rodney Whittemcre, Frank Turner, C. R. Rueter; Village Clerk Richard Engles. Absent None. Also pres ent W. W. Nuernberger, special attorney for the Village on said sewer system. Willard Opocen sky, special engineer, was pres ent. The Chairman stated the pur pose of the meeting was to con sider the proposed resolution or dering construction of the sani tary sewer system in the Village of Elmwood, Nebraska, and to provide for the proper notice to contractors and advertisement for bids. The resolution was presented by Trustee C. R. Rueter and read by the Village Clerk, Rich ard Engles. IT WAS MOVED by Trustee C. R. Rueter and seconded by Trustee Rodney Whittemore that said resolution be adopted as read. The Chairman stated the mo tion and instructed the Clerk to call the roll. The roll call re sulted as follows; Yeas; Omar Bornemeier, Rodney Whitte more, Frank Turner, C. R. Rue ter and Richard Engles; Nays, none. The result of the vote being 5 Yeas and 0 Nays, the Chair man declared the motion car ried and the resolution adopted. It was seconded by Trustee Frank Turner that Advertise ment for Bids be and is hereby approved and that the Village Clerk be instructed to publish the same in the Plattsmouth Journal as provided by law. The Chairman stated the mo tion and the Clerk recorded the vote as follows: Yes 5, 0 Nays. There being no further busi ness to come before the Chair man and the Board of Trustees it was moved by Trustee C. R. Rueter and seconded by Trus tee Richard Engles that the meeting be adjourned. RICHARD ENGLES, City Clerk No. 3337 Aug. 2. 1956 Mr. and Mrs. Bud Johnson and sons of Omaha spent Sun day at Mrs. Johnson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Buck. Mrs. Ed Jumper of Ashland arrived Wednesday at the James Mills home where she spent sev eral days. George Tniei, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Thiel, left Friday evening for Oakland, Calif., where he has to report before leaving for Japan. On Wednes day evening the Thiel family was entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Rosenow of Elmwood, and Thursday eve ning thhey were entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gustin. Breaks Hip On Wednesday morning, Mrs. Carrie Gorthey, mother of L. B. Gorthey had the misfortune to fall and break her hip. She was taken to the hospital. J A week ago Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Emil Miller and daughter, Maxine, were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Altula cf Fremont. Mrs. Altula is a niece of Mrs. Miller. Miss Maxine Miller left Thurs day for a month's trip to the east coast. She will attend a workshop in Pennsylvania at a state convention -and a teacher's convention at Pittsburgh. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. B. Mc Donald received word Friday that their son, Gene, who is in the Navy attending Electronics school at Treasure Island in San Francisco, underwent sur gery on Monday evening for appendicitis. He is recuperating nicely, it was reported. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Wilkens and son of California arrived Thursday evening for a months leave. Warren is in the navy and will be sent overseas on his return to California. Miss Dorothy Christner of Hamlet, who is attending sum mer school' at Wesleyan, spent the' weekend with her sister, Mrs. Don Bornemeier and family. The group of young folks who have been attending camp at Milford returned home on Sat urday afternoon. Mrs. Stuart Mills and oldest son left Thursday morning for Buffalo, N. Y. to visit relatives for a week. The R. N. A. Lodge met Wed nesday evening for their regular monthly meeting and social. Mrs. Euna McHugh was hostess. CLAUDE D. LUTTON, JR., Atty. He said nearly 100 boys par ticipated in the program. Mr. Harbaugh expressed grat itude to committee members for their work in the program and extended a special thanks to Russ Schalk for keeping the game scores, mowing the field, building a back stop and "many other fine jobs." Say, "I Read it in The Journal" Louisville News: Louisville Ball Teams Are Defeated By Mrs. Elmore Saltmarsh Tel. 3011 LOUISVILLE (Special) On Sunday evening, July 29, two of Louisville's baseball teams, the Junior, and their coach, Amos Hrabik, journeyed to Hastings to play in the area tournament. The Midgets played at Tal- madge. Their coach is Richard Brown. Both teams suffered defeats. The Juniors went down 16-0 at the hands of last year's cham pions, the "Lincoln Optimists." Monday , the local boys played Beatrice in the Hastings tournament. At Talmadge the Midgets were defeated 11-1 by Seward. Has Treatment Mrs. Jim Wortham has been undergoing treatment in an Omaha hospital for a back injury. Members of several 4-H clubs in and around Louisville will leave Tuesday morning for Camp Harriet Harding for three days. Drinking in Auto Brings $25 Fines To 3 Offutt Airmen Three youths from Offutt Air Force Base were in Plattsmouth Police Court this week on charges of illegal possession of alcohol and drinking in an auto mobile. They are Roger L. Oswoski, 20, Russel A. Olson, 19, and Le roy Hoefert, 20. Each pleaded guilty to the charges and were fined $25 and paid costs of $4.
