n it a Nehawka Ncvs: eturn From Week Camping Fun at Humboldt Doy scouts By Mrs. F. O. Sand Tel. 2708 NEIIAWKA (Special) Ten Boy Scouts and their scoutmas ter. John Barkhurst, returned Saturday from Humboldt, where ihcy camped for a week at Boy Scout Camp Wilderness. The following awards were received: Robert Cook and John Stan ley, merit badges in pioneering; Neil Bailer, Jim Johnson anc Roer Dodson, in horsemanship; David Atteberry and Neil Bal- r. first class swimming. The oilier scouts worked on first and crenel class skill badges. Robert cook: ana john Stan ley were tapped out for the "Order of the Arrow". Roger Dodson received this honor last I year. The entire troop walked 1 to Kansas and received the ! e; : tificate and are now "Sons of Kansas." Kansas is near the earn p. j Those who attended the special tapping out services Arthur Johnson family, Julian Johnson, Harold Dodsons, Har vey Bailers, Mrs. Dwight Cook and LeRoy Johnson, and the John-Barkhursts. Mr. Barkhurst and two daughters spent from Wednesday until Saturday at lumboldt. Visiting Here Mr. and Mrs. B. D. Burke and Allyn Kay of Lorain, Ohio, are spending this week with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Rutledge and O. W. Finney. Mrs. Rutledge Host At Family Meeting NEHAWKA (Special) A fam ily reunion at the home of Mrs. Emma Rutledge included her three brothers and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Block of Denver, Colo., Mr. and Mrs. Hen ry Block, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Block of Rochester, Minn., and three sisiters, Mrs. Grace Kisro and Mrs. Minnie Kruger of Rochester, and Mrs. Louise Smith of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The three sisters remained for a longer visit. Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Block re turned to their home in Denver Saturday after a weeks visit with the Sterling Ross family. Norman and Shirley Ross re turned with them to spend a week. Mr. and Mrs. George Poulos and Sharon of Auburn were guests Sunday of Mrs. George Poulos,, Sr., and all visited Georee Poulos. Sr . and Mrs Thursday evening were the ' Jane Sheard in Weeping Water. Mrs. Oestermann of Lincoln entertained 24 women at a lun cheon at her home in Lincoln Saturday. Mrs. Henry Ross was a guest at the luncheon. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ross. and Mrs. Emma Nutzman called on Deb Munn and R. H. Ingwerson in Weeping Water Sunday afternoon. Weekend guests of the Kelly Thornes were relatives from Auburn and Calif ornia. All attended a picnic at Nebraska City Sunday. Maple Grove Plans Picnic For August 12 NEHAWKA (Special) Mrs. Amelia Balfour presented a study lesson, "the Jones family reaches their goal", to members of the Maple Grove Extension Club Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Hall Pollard. A discussion followed. Mrs. Henning Johnson gave the devctiens. Mrs. Fred Beatty told the history of the song cf the month "God Bless Amer ica," and Mrs Lmma jNuizman led in singing. Miss Eleanor Easter, president, read the Club Collect. Mrs. Oren Pollard, chairman, reported gifts had been sent to Mrs. Kenneth Gerdes and Mrs. Lyman Anderson, former mem bers who had moved away. Gifts were presented to Mrs. Emma Nutzman and Mrs. Deane Nutzman. The August meeting will be a picnic at Tuckers grounds August 12. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Fred Beatty and Mrs. F. O. Sand. Leroy Johnson with the Air Force in Marylad is a guest this week of the Harold Dod-,dons and their guests attended Guests Saturday and Sunday of Mr. and Mrs George Sheldon were Mrs. Gertrude Pollard, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Long, Russel and Steven, Mrs. Edith Gray, Mrs. Grace Ronney, all of Omaha, Miss Darlene Fitzke of Hastings and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Thacker of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs Emil Nixon and sons of Long Beach, Calif., left Saturday for their home after a two week vacation with rela tives here and at Waverly and a fishing trip to Minnesota. They were guests here of Mr. and, Mrs. Wellman Nixon, Mr. and Mrs. Thurmond Nixon and JoEllen. The Emil Nixons and Thurmond Nixons spent a week at Perham, Minn. They plan ned to spend the weekend with relatives at Waverly and leave for home July 23. The Nehawka Extension Club had a family picnic at the Ar thur Johnson home Sunday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. Deane Nutzman and family attended a birthday dinner Sunday honoring" Karen Hoback of Union on her 11th .birthday. The Town and Country Bridge Club gave a stork shower Thurs day evening honoring Mrs. Vic tor Ross at the home of Mrs. R. R. Andersen. Robert Pollard of St. Paul, was a weekend guest of his parents, the Oren Pollards. Sun a Dicnic and tour of the 4-H Dairy and Poultry Club at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mal colm Pollard. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wunder lich of Murray, Mrs. Lottie Knecht of South Bend and Mrs. Sadie Shrader of Nehawka re turned Saturday from Perham, Minn., where they spent a week fishing. Mrs. Lyle Buell of Murdock was a guest for the day Tues day of the Elmer Ross family. Mr. and Mrs..
