Hears Lesson On Missions By Mrs. Lewis Baker Tel. 182 WEEPING WATER (Special) The Junior Circle of the Chris tian Women's Fellowship met Thursday with Mrs. William Kleeme. Eight members answered roll call by repeating a memory verse. Mary Ellen Schraeder was a p;uest. Mrs. Lynn Rothe conducted the business meeting. Mrs. Ralph Hyde led the de votions and also gave the les son "Mission U. S. A." Sentence prayers were given by each member. Two songs, "Blessed Hour of Prayer", and 'Church In The Wildwood" were sung in unison, The group made plans to serve helpers of the implement .sale at the church on Tuesday. The afternoon closed with the C W F prayer. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Reck-' ard and son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reckard and family, all of Chat- ; tanooga, Tenn., visited several! days last week with Mr. and i Mrs. G. R. Reckard of Weep-; ing Water. i Mr. and Mrs. Ed Van Horn and j family left Friday evening fori Kansas City, Kans., where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Freeman and Jimmy, and Mr. and Mrs. Less Freeman. While there they also called on Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hamel. Mrs. Ed Freeman who has spent some time there visiting re turned home with the Van Horns j on Sunday . On their way home they stopped in Auburn where they visited a short time with Mrs. Laura Mason, Mrs. Thelma Reed and Mrs. Lawrence Little and family. Mr. and Mrs. Don Wade and j boys of Lincoln, Mrs. Lester j King, Barbara Kuwitzky and Micky of Fort Calhoun were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bud King and family in Weeping Water. Four New Babies Mr. and Mrs. Truman Lytle announce the birth of a baby daughter, born Sunday, July 22 at Syracuse Memorial Hospital. She weighed seven pounds, one half ounces at birth. Grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Arbo Lytle of Tecumseh and Mrs. Eva Fithian of Vesta. Mrs. Lewis Baker, Sandy and Randy and Mrs. Richard Nor ris of Avoca spent Tuesday in Louisville visiting with Mrs. Don Urwin and Roger. In the afternoon Mrs. Urwin's brother, his wife and son, Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Rogers formerly of Stockton, Calif., were callers. Later in the afternoon they visit ed her nephew, Jim Boydston, and his friend, Don Mapy, both of Seattle. In the evening they were all supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Baker in Weeping Water. Others present at the supper were Don Urwin, Rich ard Norris and Kenneth Ur win of Stella. On Sunday they were evening supper guests of Mr. and Mrs Norris at their home. Mrs. S. H. Harman read the minutes and called the roll, to which 11 mem bers answered. Mrs. Henry Knaup gave the devotions. Mrs. Marion Spangler told the story of "Nearer My God To Thee" with the group singing in uni son. Mrs. Ralph LindVsey accom panied at the piano. Mrs. Henry Knaup gave the missionary les son, "Disciples and the Minority Group." Refreshments were ser ved by the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. FreG B. Ruhge of Avoca are parents of a baby boy weighing seven pourads and seven ounces, born July 21 at St. Marys Hospital in Nebraska City. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Ruhge of Avoca and Mr. and Mrs. Lester King of Weeping Water. Rodney Knaup spent Saturday night and Sunday in Humbplt, where he was an usher at the wedding of Y Vetta Reilly ajid Robert Kolar. Robert and Rod ney were classmates at Peru State Teachers College. Birthday Surprise Mrs. Frank Cook was pleasant ly surprised Thursday morn ing by members of the Weep ing Water Junior Woman's Club. Mrs. Cook used to be the spon sor of the club. Coffee and doughnuts were served. Mrs. C. H. Gibson of Weep ing Water and her sister, Amana Hiatt of Lincoln, left last weekend for California where they plan to spend sev eral weeks visiting Mr. and Mrs. Gibson's daughter, Mr. and Mrs Thussland of San Diego, and Dr. Katherine Gibson at Los Angeles. Friday morning Mrs. Lewis Baker was hostess at a coffee honoring Mrs. Pat Wade and three week old daughter, Deb bie. Fifteen ladies and 29 chil dren were guests. The ladies presented Mrs. Wade and Deb bie a gift of money. Coffee and rolls were served. The serving table was draped with a blue baby shawl. Streamers of pink, blue and white fell from above to three sides of the table. A baby picture held the streamers at the top. Cream, sugar and nuts were served from a baby utility set. Fourth Birthday Saturday afternoon, Barbara Finley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Finley celebrated her fourth birthday with 17 of her neighborhood friends as her guests. Ice cream, cake and favors were given each guest. Sunday evening a supper was held in her honor at her par ents home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Miller Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Christensen and Janey, Mrs. C. H. Finley of Elmwood and Jackie Dennis of Bellevue. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sudduth and family left Friday morning for Lincoln where they stayed overnight with Lloyd's parents, Mr. and Ms. Din Sudduth. Early Saturday they started for Delta, Colo., where they will make their new home. Lloyd left his job in the Weeping Water post office and will begin a new job on the newspaper in Delta. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wil coxen and Mr. and Mrs. H. I. Rookstool accompanied by Mrs. Wilcoxen's daughter, Miss Helen Tyner of Lincoln, returned home Monday from a week's vacation in Denver, Colo. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Rookstool's daugh ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Rich. , ! Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Morris of Lincoln are the parents of a baby girl weighing eight pounds. She was born Saturday at Bryan Memorial Hoospital in Lincoln. Grandparents are John Morris of Weeping Water, and Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Wallick of Weeping Water. Great grandparents are Mrs. George Ellis of Weeping Water and Mrs. Helen Wallick of Hollywood, Calif. Mrs. C. V. Wallick is in Lincoln staying with the other Morris children, children. Mr. and Ms. C. R. Wilkenson of Farmington, Mich., are the parents of a seven pound, 10 ounce boy, Joseph ttobbins, born July 19. Grandparents are Mrs. H. C. Wilkenson of Weeping Water and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ledbettor of Elizabethtown, 111. Monday, Mrs. Lloyd , Lane and Mrs. Ed Van Horn drove the 4-H Club members, Stitchen Students to Nebraska City,; where they took sewing les sons at the Singer Sewing Cen ter there. Mrs. John Groesser county agent and the leader, Susan Wood, assistant leader Mrs. Stanley Wood, assisted in the lessons. The girls learned how to use a machine, wind bobbins and other interesting things. Following this, they went swimming at Steinhart Park. 4-H Sewing Lessons Are Planned By QTs By Velda Nickels 4-H Reporter The 4-H Q T's met at the home of their assistant leader, Mrs. Harold Hamilton, recently with five members present. ( Ellen Winscot and Sandra Hamilton demonstrated how to make cocoa and cinnamon toast and then served it to the group. A business meeting was held. The girls and their leade'r plan to attend 4-H camp at the end of the month. They also set the date for their Singer Sewing lessons at Nebraska City on Aug. 15th. They had a small discussion about the share the fun contest. They also made plans for earning next years camp funds. Next meeting will be held at Ruby Barnards home July 25th in the afternoon. Cass County Farmers Sell On Omaha Marker OMAHA Three Cass County farmers sold livestock on the Omaha Market Monday as fat lambs and better fat cattle scored sharp price upturns. Cass farmers selling were: Glen Todd, 20 steers; average I wight, 1,265 pounds; $24.50, a hundred pounds. Virgil Stander, 21 hogs; aver age weight, 206 pounds; $16.75, a hundred pounds. John Christenson, 10 steers; average weight, 983 pounds; $21.75, a hundred pounds.
