Nehawk.1 Miss Evelyn Wolph, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wolph were din ner guests Sunday of Mrs. Em ily Olive at Weeping Water. Mr- and Mrs. Harold Willis re turned from a trip to Colorado and New Mexico. They rode the ski lift at Berthold Pass, went to Mt. Evans near Idaho Springs, Pikes Peak, and in New Mexico saw the annual intertribal cele bration of the Ute, Apache and Navajo Indians. Nehawko Ahrens Supper At Plattsmouth About 100 neighbors, club members and their families at tended a covered dish supper at the Plattsmouth park Saturday in honor of the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. an Mrs. Eno Ahrens. Ice cream and cake were furnished by the host. The club presented them with an electric fryer skillet. They al so received other gifts. The men caught their limit in fishing. Mrs. T. J. Pollard and chil dren, Tom. Steven and Elaine arrived Thursday evening from Birmingham, Ala., to spend ten days with Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Pollard. T. J. Pollard flew in Friday evening from North Car olina to spend the weekend. Tom Pollard was a Sunday ov ernight and Monday guest of Robin Stoll. Nehawka W. S. C. S. Meets Mrs. George Dickman gave the program at the meeting of the W. S. C. S. Wednesday after noon at the home of Mrs. John Chandler. Her theme was "Unit ed Effort Toward a Better Life." Mrs. Emma Nutzman gave the devotions. This was followed by two hymns. Missionary topic for the year is the American Indian. Mrs. Elmer Stoll read a paper pre pared by Mrs. Harvey Bailer on the Indian. Quarterly reports were filled in and sent to the district pro motion secretary. Mrs- Ellis Lacy gave the lesson on Mary and Martha. At the next meeting, the 15th anniversary of the Women's Society of Christian Service will be observed at the church. Mrs. Harvey Barkhurst will be in charge of the program. Assist ant hostesses were Mrs. Elmer Stoll and Mrs. Ray, G. Nixon. Guests were Mrs. Selma Nelson, Mrs. Frank Linder and Mrs. W. J. Power of Nevada, Mo. Nehawka Mrs. Inez Hessner, sister of Mrs. Gilbert Edmonds, was a recent guest in the Edmonds home. Carl Crook of Councir Bluff s, Iowa, is a guest this week of his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. John Bucholz. Mr. and Mrs. George Sheldon received an" invitation to the wedding of their niece, Ramona Tighe to Lieut. Lee Kovensky at the James Connally Air Force Chapel at Waco, Texas Sept 3. Nehawka Howard Moore. 16, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Shrader, arrived by plane Friday morn ing and will make his home with his grandparents this year and attend the Nehawka high school. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. F. K. Moore, of Dubba, Australia. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Adams arrived home Friday from Flint visit Mr. and Mrs. Ed Dreiman, and a niece, Janet Murphy, stu dent at the university at Minne apolis. They were also guests at Thorpe, Wis., of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Murphy. They were gone two weeks. Mrs. Hessner is prin cipal at the Rialto, Calif., high school. Marvin Edmonds went to Lin coln Thursday to make arrange ments to attend Wesleyan Uni versity. Mrs. Edmonds and Dan ny and their aunt. Mrs. Re becca Clemans accompanied Marvin and visited with Mrs. Clemens' son, Albert. Mrs. John West also went with ' the Ed monds and visited her grandson Gary. West at the orthopedic hospital. Gary recently under went a serious operation. His condition is the result of polio, which he had several years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Anderson and their guests. Andersen, Gary and Dr- Andersen's moth er, Mrs. Samuel Andersen of Omaha, arrived home Thursday from a two-week vacation to the Dakotas, Black Hills, Yellow stone Park, and Washington state. Nehawkc TV Appearance Janice, Janet and Patricia Conrad, granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hines. were on a television show Sunday after noon. The girls had competed with 1700 children from the Omaha schools and were among the winners in the swimming contest. Janice won first in her division in the finals and Janet, second. Patricia was 2nd in her division. All the girls received trophies. They attend the Kel lom school. Janice and Janet are twins. Nehawke Harold Dodson. son, Roger, and John Barkhurst spent the weekend at Camp Minis Quya at Lincoln. John Barkhurst and Roeer Dodson passed the Ordeal in the Order of Arrows of tho Golden Sun and Harold Dodson received Brotherhood in the same Lodge. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Fischer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Althouse and family, all of Elm wood, brought a covered dish supper and spent the evening, Monday, with Mr. and Mrs. Merle- Mever and family. Tues day supper guests of the Meyers were Mr. and Mrs. James Savage and sons. Nebraska City. Wed nesday Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brandt and daughters of Avoca were their supoer guests. A dinner party Friday evening at the George Sheldon home honored Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Choat, who will move to Chicago Sept 1, and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Thacker of Lincoln, who will move Sept 1 to Ithica, N. Y., where Mr. Thacker will be on the staff of Cornell University, poultry department. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. John Bark hurst. A party Saturday evening at the Sheldon home included Mr. and Mrs. Thacker, Mr. and Mrs. Vance Balfour, Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Pollard and Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Wirth of Dunbar. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Long and son of Omaha were weekend guests at the Sheldon home. Mr. and Mrs. Thacker were Satur day overnight guests and had dinner Sunday with his mother, Mrs. O. Thacker of Verdon. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Joerger j arrived home Friday from Min- i neapolis where they spent a week. They were at Perham at the same time as Mrs. Sadie Shrader. They spent several days with Mrs. Joerger's sis ter, Mrs. Charles Eschelman, and Mr. Eschelman at Adrian, Minn. While visiting in Minnesota-Mrs. Joerger received word of the death of her sister, Mrs. Elsie Roach, 55, of Paxton, 111., in a car accident. Mrs. Roach is survived by her husband and four grown children. Recent guests at the Chester Stone home were Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Hebard. Betty and Gene of Bassett. Gene was home on leave from the Navy. He finish ed his boot training at Great Lakes and will go to Norman, Okla., to school, Aug. 26. Mrs. Sadie Weik of Norfolk is a guest for several days this week of her son, G. W. Weik and family. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Meyer of Imperial and Marlene Meyer of Nehawka were recent dinner guests at the Arthur Wolph home- Nehawka Linder Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Frank Linder have a new granddaughter, Jeri Lvnn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. j W3vne Linder, born at St. Eliza-! beth hospital in Lincoln Aug. j 18. Other grandparents are Mr. i and Mrs. Jerry Anderson of j Tecumseh. Mr. and Mrs. Frank i Linder visited them at the hos pital Sunday. Nehawka Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Power and twin sons of Nevada, Mo., left ': Fridav for their home after spending the week with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter PowT er. All attended a family re union at Benson Park in Omaha. Mrs. Power's brother and wife. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Fowler, Enid, Okla., arrived Monday to spend several days with them. Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Ross and family spent a week with Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Block at Den ver, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Rutledge went to Manley Sunday to a family gathering at the Tim Finney home honoring Mrs. Fin ney's two sisters of Washing ton state. Twenty were present. Elmer Stoll made a business trip to the IOOF home at York Monday to meet with the home fishing trip. Dan Anderson and daughter, Doris, took Joe Doedyns to Oma ha Monday to meet Charles Spicka and wife of Cheyenne, Wyo. Mr. Sticka is Mr. Doedyns uncle. Mr. Doedyns left Omaha Monday evening for his home in Bishop, Texas. Mrs. Doedyns and daughters will remain for a longer visit. The Methodist Sunday school classes including children from the 4-8 grades held a picnic and swimming party at Steinhart Park at Nebraska City Friday. Those receiving attendance awards were present. Mrs. Kent Balfour and Mrs. Fred Hansen are the teachers. ; A belated birthday party hon ored Mrs. Dan Anderson at her home. Three tables played cards with the first prize received by Mrs. Will Ost, second by Mrs. Martin Rosa. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Shrader had a picnic supper with Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Boedecker at the Boedecker home Thursday.
