Alvo Mrs. Jipp Home Mrs. Clyde Jipp who has been in the hospital at Lincoln with polio was able to come home Sunday but her son Stephen won't be able to come home for a while. Mrs. Mall Kitzel spent from Wednesday until Sunday at Ashland with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Friend, and attended the "Stir Up." Mr. and Mrs. Lee Stewart were Thursday evening callers at the Bob Kunz home. Alvo 50th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Herman Brun kow of Alvo are holding open house at the Methodist church basement in Alvo Sunday, Aug. 21, in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary. The hours are from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Their friends and relatives are invited to attend without fur ther notice. No. gifts. Alvo Mrs. Harold Patterson and three children from Cheyenne, Wyo., visited her grandmother, Mrs. Addle Kinney, last week. They left for their home Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hergenrad er and children from Lincoln visited Mrs. Hergenrader's moth er, Mrs. Addie Kinney, Friday. Sunday callers on Mrs. Kinney were Mrs. John Newkirk and son. Merle from Waverly. They had attended the funeral-of Mr. Frank Daugherty. Mr. A. L. Lenning is ill and under a doctor's care. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bennett are staying at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Max Reed, while they are on vacation. , Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Strofner visited Mrs. Stromer's brother, Bill Brown Sunday. He has been at a hospital in Lincoln six weeks i and is getting better. I Mr. and Mrs. Harold Nickel' attended a picnic at Fremont Sunday. Mrs. Nancy Snavely, one of the Alvo telephone operators, is on a two week vacation trip. Sunday night visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Har dnock were Mr. and Mrs. Archie Hardnock and children from Lincoln. Alvo Hardnock Son Born to Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Hardnock Sunday morning at the Bryan Methodist hospital, a baby girl weighing 6l2 pounds. The Hardnocks have one other child, a boy, Jerry, seven years old. Alvo Mr. and Mrs. Carl Soflin of Lincoln; Betty and Lynn from, Shenandoah. Ia.. visited Mrs. Edith Brann Saturday evening.. Sunday supper guests of Mrs." i Mabelle Winn and Ralph were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Smith and daughter, Charlene, from Min neapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Art Klyver of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Klyver. Mr. and Mrs. Junior John son' and family came home Sat urday evening from Minnesota where they went on a vacation and fishing trop.' They had a nice time and caught plenty of fish. Elmer Reuter stopped at Jefferson, la., to visit his sister and family over the weekend. Alvo i Attend Celebration A number from Alvo attend ed the 50th wedding anniver sary of Mr and Mrs. Frank Ros e n o w at Murdock Sunday. Among them were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Brunkow; Mr. Albert Brunkow and Mrs. Amanda Kel ley. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Capwell of Lincoln were callers on Mr. and Mrs. Herman Brunkow one afternoon last week. Mrs. Herman Brunkow, with Mrs. Haertel, attended funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Ply male at Ashland. Alvo Si Alvo W. S. C. S. - The Alvo Woman's Society of Christian Service met Aug. 3 at the church basement. The meet ing was conducted by president Mrs. Helen Nickel. The Society voted to pay expenses for one delegate to attend school of missions. The worship service -was led by Anna Knapp. Bessie Vincent presented the lesson. A special birthday cake- will be made each month to celebrate members birthdays and pennies collected will be used for mis sions. Andry Stromer baked the cake for the month. A lunch was served by Mildred Dimmitt, Ollio Vickers and Blauch Weis chel. Clayton. Fairfield of Lincoln called on Art Skinner Thurs- j day afternoon. He and Mrs. Fair field had just returned from a vacation trip of the north western states. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Alva Skinner- at Spirit j Lake, -Idaho. - Nine M. Y. F. members attend- i ea camp Aug. 1 through 6. They were accompanied by Rev. and I Mrs. Deems. Bob Curttright Sr., is still in the University hospital under going treatment. Shower Given The friends of District No. 55 gave a shower honoring Lois Sporer and George Minford last Thursday evening. A great many gifts were presented to the bride and groom - to - be. Murray Callers for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gattsch of Springfield; Marilyn Leonard of Riverside, Calif.; and Gary Hild. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Smith have returned from a vacation to Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lancaster and Roger Noel spent last Sun day and Monday visiting at Mc Cool Junction with Mrs. Lan caster's sister, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cudaback. Murray Dr. Gilmore Home Dr. G. W. Gilmore has return ed home after his short stay in the hospital. He is being cared for in his home by Mrs. Gertie Dill and Mrs. Garland Tilson. Murray The men are still busy work ing on the basement of the Christian Church, where they have decided to enlarge the fel lowship room during the time when the farmers are not so busy. Mrs. John Doeschot of Omaha was a Sunday visitor at the home of Mrs. Eugena Le Les Dernier and Ray. Murray Al Bartlett Dies Word was received last Sun day by some of the Murray folks of the death of Al Bartlett, long-time resident of Murray. Mr. Bartlett was residing at Centerville, Iowa, at the time of his death. Mr. Bartlett had been in ill health for several years and leaves a widow. Murray Mr. and Mrs. Duane Sack and family, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sack and Debbie Cooper attend ed the Sack reunion last Sun day in Lincoln at Bethany Park. Miss Bernice Jacobson of In tego, Wis., is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jacobson and family. Murray Birthday Party Miss Carol Smith enjoyed a birthday party last Sunday af ternoon given by her mother, Mrs. Sheldon Smith, with all of her little friends as guests; Games were played and a lovely lunch served by Mrs. Smith. Murray Mrs. Vera Wasson of Lin coln spent last week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Lutz and Mrs. Addie Hatchett. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Coop er have returned home after a short vacation to Lake Ogoboji. David Read had the misfor tune to run an ice pick in his finger last Monday evening while freezing a freezer of home-made ice cream. The in jury is not believed to be serious.
