Bible Comment: We Inherit Home Ideal From Jews of Old IN the heritage of Christianity from Judaism, the world owes the Jews a big debt, especially in their concept of the sanctity of home and family life. A great factor in the strengtn of the Jews historically, in spite of sufferings, persecutions and tragedies, has been this attitude toward home and family life, and this goes far back into Jevvisn history and religion. Christian teaching enrorcea an that Jesus and the disciples whom He gathered around Him had known m all that jewisn heritage that the Master said He -had not come to destroy but to fulfill. Love in all the relationshiDS of life is the supreme demand of Christ. Love in home and lam ily life in the Christian concep tion is the prime basis of happy and responsible living. All this is so obvious and ele mental that to state it seems commonplace. But it is the com monplace things of life that are the most important, and too often neglected. Is there any area of life today in which the basic and commonplace things of Christian teaching are neglected, and set at naught, more than in this area of marriage, home and fam ily? Surely this is- a great problem facing Christians and the Chris tian Church, as well, as all who are concerned about the social welfare. There, would be more hope among nations and peoples, if there were more peace in homes, families, and in all .the daily re lationships of ordinary life. Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy will be the following (273: 21-26): "God never ordained a material law to annul the spir itual law. If there were such a material law, it would oppose the supremacy of Spirit, God, and impugn the wisdom of the creator. Jesus walked on the waves, fed the multitude, healed the sick, and raised the dead m direct opposition to : material laws." EMANUEL EVANGELICAL U. B. Northeast of Murdock T. H.
