S. Meets The Eagle Women's Society of Christian Service met at the church Wednesday aftenvxn, with the Alvo W. S. C. S. ladies as guests. The. president, Mrs. Laura West, conducted the bus iness meeting with Mrs. Charles Scattergood leading the devo tionals and Mrs. John Fischer conducting the . lesson. A report of the officers were given, in cluding the promotion secretary, Mrs. Orin Lanning, who men tioned the monthly report of of ficers be handed her socnand at the close of the report, the latter recognized perfect at tendance members for this year, honoring Esther Lanning, Laura West, Luella Fischer- and Ruth Stoll with corsages. The latter has the honor of 9V2 years per fect attendance. Mrs. Floyd Alt house conducted the installation of officers. Several officers were re-elected to serve out their two year term, including Laura West, president; Esther Lanning, vice president; Maude Morton, secretary; Gertrude Pitzer, treas urer; promotion secretary, Laura Lanning; missionary education, Ellen Frohlich; supply, Florena Jacobmeier; literature, Dorothy Stall; youth, Enola Erskine; stu dent, Olive Westlake; children, Anna Root and status of women, Nora Ketelhut. Following the impressive in-1 stallation, the Hymn and Prayer was played and sung by Luella Fischer. Mesdames Esther Lan ning and Maude Morton were the co-hostesses and the four long tables were attractively ar ranged with placemats and cen tered with low vases, bowls of spring flowers with two tall lighted candles on each table. Vocal solos by Lois Erskine and Janice Frohlich, accompanied by Faye Erskine sang their contest songs very commendable prior to the adjournment of the busi ness meeting. Eag'ie Hursh Services The funeral services for Mr. William Hursh, 79, were held at the Eagle Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 2 p. m. with Rev. Roland Stienke offici ating. Gary Earl sang the se lected - songs,"The Old Rugged Cross" and "Going Home" with Mrs. John Fischer at the piano. Umberger mortuary was in charge of the services. Mr. Hursh was well known by the community. He leaves his widow, Nora; two sons, Orville of Denver, Colo., and Floyd of Grand Island and othei rela tives. Eagle Recent bread truck driver was injured when he lost control of the truck and it ran over a steep embankment two miles north of Eagle, landing in the pond of water. The driver was not injured seriously but the truck was hauled into Lincoln by the wrecker-car, damaged quite extensively. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Muen chau and 2 daughters, with the latter's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kinnamon of Seward met in Lincoln last Sun day afternoon and enjoyed a picnic and outing together. The Dorcas Society of the Im manuel Lutheran church met at the church Wednesday after noon with Mesdames Claude Gerhard and Ivan Althouse as co-hostesses. Rev. Hackman, pasfor, led the devotionals and also conducted the lesson and topic discussion which was very interesting and inspirational for all those in attendance. Eagle Purchase Lights Last Tuesday, members of the Eagle school board and Supt. Schmeiding went to Wayne, Neb., to inspect flood lights, which the Wayne State Teach er's College were selling. The board decided to purchase the lights for the football and base ball field. Eagic . Miss Lillie Muenchau of Platts mouth visited at the Fred Muenchau home Saturday. Mrs. Walter Jacobmeier has been under doctor's care re cently and has to refrain from being on her feet a considerable amount of time. Last Tuesday morning when Keith Muenchau and John Fischer were on way -to Alvo with the plumber's truck, a small deer was seen nearby in a field and seemed to be undisturbed by the passersby as he was jaunt ing across the fields. Eagle May Festival The music department of Eagle school is presenting a May fes tival by the high school and grade pupils next Wednesday evening, May 10th at the high school auditorium, and inviting the public to attend. Plattsmouth Bridal Shower A bridal shower was given in honor of Doris Hammond of Lin coln recently at the home of Mrs. Phyllis Shestak in Lincoln. Lovely gifts were given the bride-to-be of Mr. Vern Jacobmeier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jac obmeier of Eagle, Friday eve ning, May 6, in Lincoln. Those attending the shower from Eagle were the groom-to-be's mother, Mrs. Jacobmeier and aunt, Mrs. Orin Lanning. Delicious and at tractive refreshments were served in keeping with the bridal motif. Mrs. Clifford Andersen, Jr., of Lincoln is staying at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Norris, while her husband is as signed with the baseball Cub team at Twin Falls, Idaho. The former is employed at Lincoln, and rides to and from with Mr. ?.nd Mrs. Lannin of Elmwood. Eagle Beef Club Meets The Eagle Beef club met with Richard Wenzel Monday, April 24. All members were present. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Wenzel. On last Saturday, Mr. . Schmadeke, county agent, and Floyd Althouse, with some other club members, visited each club member's home and tagged their calves. Raymond Althouse, reporter ,Eag!e Mrs. Hackman returned home from the hospital Thursday, however the baby daughter will remain at the hospital for a few weeks. The Hackman's have two small sons. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Muenchau called at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Muenchau last Wednesday evening. Educational Tour The intermediate class of boys and girls met at the Methodist church last Saturday at 1:00 o'clock. Mesdames Ronhovde, Westlake and Fischer took their cars and the first stop was at the fire department on O street. The interesting things we noticed there was reported by Jerry Ronhovde and Gary Trunken bolz. The next department reported by Glenda, Kay, Kathy and Car- leen was the making of butter in large cylinder churns turned by electric motors and a super visor stood by with a water hosa and kept any leakage of the cream washed to the drains. The Historical building and Student Union buildings were next in line but we didn't only walk in and see the entry at the Historical building as some of us had seen it before. The last visit before returning home was at the Peter Pan park where we jumped from the cars, ate our lunch and ran for the slide, and all the playground equipment. We wish to thank cur teacher, Mrs. Fischer and the two other ladies, Mrs. Ronhovde and Mrs. Westlake for their cars and taking the time to be with us. The education committee of the Methodist church met at the church Wednesday evening and plans are made to have Vacation Bible School the week following the close of school term, start ing at 3:30 and closing of classes at 11:30 a. m. Monday through Friday. Consumers Users Set All-Time High Electric customers of Consum ers Public Power District estab lished an all-time high in the use of electricity, according to the District's Annual Report for the year 1954 which has just been released. The new record of 632,740,321 in kilowatt-hour sales by the District constitutes a 6.6 in crease in this category over 1953. Helping to establish this new record is the fact that the num ber of customers served by Con sumers Public Power District al so increased over 1953, to a new hieh of 113,799. Residential customers, accord ing to the report, upped their average, annual use 7.9 over the preceding year, to 2,401 kilowatt-hours per customer. The average per-kilowatt-hour cost to ' these customers declined slightly from 2.78 cents in 1953 to 2.71 cents. Commercial, indus trial and rural uses of electrici ty also showed substantial gains throughout the year.
