Gardner A grouo of friends came in to surprise Mrs. Fred Gardner on H,f.ei blrthday anniversary, Thursday evening The evening was spent in vis inns and playing pinochle. Traveling prizes went to Mrs. Fred Gardner, and Paul Gutzen vitr of Essex, Iowa. Out of town guests attending were Mr. and M-s. Delbn Gard ner, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Melan ders all of Villisca, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Wilkins and fam lJ of Sidney. Iowa, and Pat Schnile and Paul Gutgenwiter ox Essex, Iowa. . J11 Prty was carried out in the St. Patrick Day colors, and decorations. Refreshments of cake, ice cream and coffee were served at an appropriate hour. Mrs. Gardner received many lovely gifts. Gene Vallery Notes 10th Year - Saturday at 2:30, nineteen in vited guests came to honor Gene Vallery on his tenth birthday. After party games were played, Gene opened his many gifts. Mrs. Jack Vallery, mother of Gene, , served ice cream, cake, c?"v anri cold drinks. The only out of town guest was Koy Giup of Omaha. FBIRTHS Mrs. A. Lentz Surprised On Her Birthday The families of the Women's Missionary Society and the Brotherhood of the Christ Ev angelical Lutheran church, hon ored Mrs. A. Lentz, wife of the pastor, on her birthday March 16th. The surprise party follow ed the business meeting of the Brotherhood. Mrs. Lentz is the president of the Women's Society. Games directed by Mrs. For rest Engelkemeier and Mrs. Fred Wehrbein were played and fol lowing the opening of the gifts by the honoree, homemade ice cream, cake and coffee were served. That's what these Plattsmouth high school sophomore girls are doing here as part of the homemakers course at the school. The girls "borrow" the children for their class work from Plattsmouth mothers. ' Mrs. Don Wall and children were weekend guests of her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson at Tarkio, Missouri. . Mrs. Kenneth Schmitt of Little Sioux, Iowa, was a guest Friday evening and Saturday of her mother, Mrs. Joseph Solo mon, and visited with her sis ters and brother. Charles Ay lor, serving with the Navy in San Diego Calif, arrived Friday for a twelve day leave with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Roy Aylor and his broth ers. On termination of his leave he will report for assignment at Washington D. C. . Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bur ch ain returned Saturday from a two weeks vacation in Inglewood and El Monte, California. Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Schulze and son have returned from a trip to Minnesota. Bell inger, Jr. and Rosemary left Fri day for Joplin, Missouri. Mr. Bellinger's father, Harry, Sr. is seriously ill in the hospital. Sands Visit Home Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sand, Norma and Janice, of Lincoln, were Sunday dinner guests at his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sand. Also present were both his brothers and their families. The Sands also visited Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Payton and spent a few minutes with Mr. Sand's sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Wiles of Weeping Water. American Red Cross volunteers gave 6,713,000 hours of service last year, to servicemen, veter ans, and their families. Ira Beadle Dies At Masonic Home Funeral services will be held in Papillion for Ira C. Beadle, 72, who died March 18 at the Ne braska Masonic home in Platts mouth. He was admitted to the home through Papillion Lodge No. 39, A. F. & A. M., and had spent a year and six months there. He was a former county sur veyor of Sarpy county. He is survived by one brother, Clayton D. Beadle of Papillion and a nephew, Scott Beadle of North Bend, Neb. Britain's gold and dollar re serves fell off $32,000,000 during February.
