Mrs. Harry Fleishman under went surgery at the Bryan Mem orial hospital Wednesday. Her many friends are hoping for a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Root have announced the engagement of their daughter, Doris Lucille, to A3C Clay D. Tyree, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Tyree of St. Charles, Va. The wedding is planned for the latter part of this month. Mr. and Mrs. John Fischer at tended the funeral service of Mrs. Otto Miller, at Murdock, Nebr.,- Wednesday afternoon at the K. U. B. church. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Strom of Lewi.ston, Nebraska, called at the Anna Fifer home last Sun dav afternoon, March 6th. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Fifer of Lincoln, visited the former's mother, Mrs. Anna Fifer, last Sunday. Misses Freda and Carolyn IReitter visited their sister and ! husband Mr. and Mrs. Frank ; Plymale, at Millard, Nebraska ; on Sunday, March 6th. Mrs. j Lucy Seeman acompanied them, on the trip. Mr. Carl Hardrock, from the state of Iowa, has been visiting his brother, Art Hardrock and other relatives for several days. Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Glaser and family of Lincoln visited her mother. Mr. and Mrs. John Fischer vis ited his mother, Mrs. Lena Fisch er and daughter, Mary, at Elm wood last Sunday afternoon. The "O" St. Homemaker's club members will meet next month and receive the lesson in stead of in March due to the tour and book report at Lincoln last week. Mr. Arthur Adams is back at his employment at the Lincoln boy's reformatory, after being ill a few days last week. Mesdames Bettie Underwood and Ella Fischer attended the Elmwood O.E.S. Kensington, Wenesday afternoon, at the Mas onic temple. The 7th and 8th grade students went to Palmyra Wednesday af ternoon, by school bus, at which time, the boy's basketball team played the Palmyra boys, and lost. Art Hardrock has been ill for a few days, but is some better at this writing. Mr. Matthews of Lincoln called at the Wm. Meyers home Thurs day afternoon. Mrs. Bertha Caddy returned home Monday evening after vis1 iting several weeks in California, with her son, Arthur and fam ily, and her daughter, Edna, and family, the Lester Robertsons Mrs. Carrie Trimble has been spending several weeks, in Pal myra, with her sister, Miss Amy Waite. The former returned to her home in Eagle, Wednesday. Mrs. Henry Rockenbach visited in Lincoln, Thursday, with rel atives. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walker were visiting in Plattsmouth Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. .Robert Phillips, Miss Helen Walker, with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Manning and son Bobby, went to Crete to visit the former's daughter and family, the Dwayne Novacek's living on a farm, near Crete. The Camp Creek club mem bers met at Mrs. John Fisher's home Thursday afternoon with the business meeting being con ducted by Mrs. Elmer Frohlich. the lesson presented bv the lead ers Mesdames H. D. K now Y our Candidate Anna Jacobsen Dies in Texas AVOCA (Special) Relatives received word of the death of Anna Betts Jacobsen at Cortms Christi at the home of her daughter Mrs. Lois Lowery. Bur ial was at Eagle beside her hus band Charles Jacobsen. Mrs. Jacobsen was born near Avoca and the daughter of Mary and William Betts-. After her marriage, they farmed west of Avoca and later near Eagle. She has made her home in Texas for several years. ' She was the last member of her family. She is survived by two daugh ters, Mrs. Rose Mosier, and Mrs. Lois Lowery, Corpus Christi, Tex.: two sons, Cecil Jacobsen, Roca, Nebr., and Clifford Jacob sen, Lincoln. 'He attended school at Plattsmouth and at the age of 16 went to work at the shops. He took time i out for two years to serve with the United States Navy in World war i ana later returned to tne i Burlington and was named as sistant shop superintendent in 1946. He wras married to the former Helen York at Plattsmouth in 1921. They have two children, Eldon, of Alliance, and Mrs. Bet ty Ault of Plattsmouth. Vroman is a member and past ommander of the American Le- V' E. O. Vroman gion and a member and chef passe of the 40 & 8; served two years as secretary of the ceme tery board. Louisville Tutors Given $100 Raise LOUISVILLE (Special) The Louisville board of education put down all teachers, who are in terested in returning to their positions, a S100 raise for next year in a board meeting held here Monday night. Mrs. Hanna, first grade tea cher, and Mrs. Reed eighth grade teacher, did not wish to be con sidered for re-election. Expected soon was an an nouncement of a new superintendent. Ray Larson Named Coin Convention General Chairman Ray Larson of Plattsmouth has been appointed general chair men of the national convention of the American Numismatic Association to be held in Omaha in August of this year, it has been announced. - The convention will be free to the public with various coins on exhibit expected to total in value more than a million dollars. Teams Knot Loop Lead In Duck Pins Bryant Motors pushed into a tie for first place in the Platts mouth duck pin bowling league last week when they took a thrce-f?ame series from Ernie's. This locked Bryant and Corner Bar in a tie. for first with 42 wins, 24 losses each. Al Fairfield led Bryant' with 173 for high game as George Wlascott racked up a 480 to lead the team in three-game series O. Ross had high game of 161 and series of 403 to lead Ernies. - Storz Zebras took 2-of-3 from Corner Bar. A Ferro led the Ze bras with 174 for gams and 434 for series. L. Swoboda had 149 high game for Corner Bar as Bob Tschirren scored high series with 410. VFW won three from Fire stone to move into fourth place. The work was under the sup ervision of Herman Meisinger, the newly-elected president of the club, assisted by several youngsters who are athletically inclined and are eager to par ticipate in the clean sportsman ship that they will enjoy on this playground this year. In 1S34, three lots "were pur chased for a community play ground, and an athletic associ ation was formed, and for some time popular sports were enjoyed. Now that there is again a fine group of teen-agers who are eag er to enjoy this association to gether, the Mynard Community Club is interested in providing suitable grounds on which the young people of the Mynard community can participate.
