Roberts, Mrs. Louis Noble and Mrs. Frank Domingo were hos tesses at a shower honoring Miss Carolyn Kunkel. The theme of the pink rose was carried out in the decora tions and refreshments.. There were 20 guests present. Every one went together and presented Miss Kunkel with a mix-master. The afternoon was spent play ing bridge and canasta. They al so presented a "This is Your Life" program. Picture slides were flashed on the screen. They included everything from her early childhood, until the pres ent day. She was presented with a picture scrapbook containing all the pictures that were shown. Refreshments were served by the hostesses. On Sunday, Miss Kunkel was honored at another shower giv en by Miss Susan Hobson and Joan Norris. There were 16 school friends and relatives at tending. The miscellaneous shower was held at the home of Rich Hob- son. A green and pink umbrella j served as a center of attraction. Several different games were played and Miss Kunkel received many nice gifts. The refreshments served by the hostesses proved very de licious and attractive. Weeping Water Mrs. Sterlin Hodge, Steven and Cynthia arrived Wednesday eve ning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Parson's and daugh ter. They stayed until Friday evening, when Mr. Hodge came to take them home. Rodney Knaup, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knaup, returned home Wednesday from Peru State Teachers College, where he has completed his freshman year. That same evening, Rod ney, with three friends of Pen; College. Albert and Donald Thurston of Pawnee City and Robert Barge of Anchorage, Alaska, left for Anchorage, where they will be employed during the summer. Weeping Water Sew'n Sews Meet At Amick Home The Sew'n Sews met Thurs day evening at the home of Mrs. Farley Amick. There were eight ladies present, Mrs. Willard j Wipf, Mrs. Richard Norris, Mrs. j Neil Fitzpatrick, Mrs. Leo Er i hart, Mrs. Lewis Baker, Mrs. Wil bur Clark, Mrs. Kenneth Meyer ! and Mrs. Farley Amick. James uwmeii Alumni Banquet Held; Officers Are Elected The Cass County Agricultural Auditorium basement colorfully decorated using the "Rainbow" as the theme, was the scene of the Weeping Water Alumni Ban quet on Friday, May 21. The tol lowing officers were in charge: Mrs. Helen Elliot as president, Mrs. Neil Munkers as vice pres ident, Mrs. Wilmer Hermann as secretary and treasurer. Alice Noell was chairman of the dec- crating committee; Betty Her-!w. mann was ticket chairman and Mrs. John Bender had charge of the table decorations. The delicious meal of minute steak, potatoes, gravy, corn, pineapple, cottage cheese moid, rolls and butter, ice cream, cookies and coffee was prepared by the Ruth Circle of the Meth odist church and was served by the Junior class members. Rev. Alfred V. Hunter of Lin coln, began the program with the invocation. Toastmaster for the evening was Tom Hopkins of Omaha. William Thornton of Weeping Water welcomed the seniors and was responded to by Bill Everett, senior class presi dent. Mrs. Florence Paap, senior class sponsor introduced each member of the senior class. Oth er speakers of the evening wer3 Lloyd Lane, Ralph Rainesr Eu gene Day, and Parr Young, Arcll call of the classes was conduct ed by Mrs. Neil Munkres. The new officers elected for the coming year are Mrs. Rich ard Harmon as president, Harold Meyer as vice president and Pat Was as secretary and treasurer. There were visitors from a number of other states includ ing California, North Carolina. Maryland, and one member had just returned irom japan. . Special recognition was given to Mrs. . W. Davis, who has two daughters who are aiso Weeping Water alumni. They are Miss Fern Davis and Mrs. Francis Everett. Mrs. Everett has ten (10) children, all of whom graduated from Weeping Water high school. Eight of them were pre2nt: 'Arthur Everett, Jacksonville, North Carolina; Mrs. 'Earl Wiles, Grand Island; and Mrs. Lloyd Sudduth, Mrs. Lynn Parscn, Mrs. Bud King, Mrs. Wilmer Hermann, John Ev erett and Bill Everett, all of Weeping Water. l There were 234 persons at tending. Sst. Alvin C. Moran, who is or; a 30-day leave from an airbase in Washington, D. C, visited Tuesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Meyer. Sgt. Weeping Water Bible School is Held as Three Churches Unite On Monday, May 31, at 9 a.m. the cooperative vacation Bible school started. This is sponsored by the Congregational, Metho dist and Christian churches of Weeping Water. A staff of 20 teachers and as sistants has been enlisted to supervise the activity of the four departments school which will be meeting simultaneously in the three church buildings. Classes are being held as fol lows: Kindergarten 4 yrs and 5 yrs., meet at Methodist church. Primary Children of 1st, 2nd and 3rd 'grades, meet at Congregational church. Junior 4th. 5th. and 6th grades meet at Christian church. Junior High 7th and 8th grades meet upstairs at the Con gregational church. The course of study for this year's school is on the general theme of the "Church," texts and materials being used are rhnsp nmwH tho wotmnoi Council of Churches, Religious Education Division. I Education Division. At the closing of the school there will be an open house and a display of. work which has been done. This will be on Fri day evening, June 11. Weepies V.r&tr Achievement Program Held By Health Club The Sunbeam Health Club Achievement Program was held home of Mrs. J. M.Ranney. The 1 members gave the 4-H pledge; and "The more we get together."! inends. The members all gave demon strations. Sara Jensen gave the summary of the year's work. Jane Davis gave a talk on heart facts. Cathy Calahan spoke about the ear and its care. Pat ty Caster, lets build good teeth. Bonnie Noble," using her doll, demonstrated the care of hair. Juanita Nichols gave a skit on i "No Health Club Boy had this ' Night More." Sara Jensen gave care of the hands. Geraldine Michelsen spoke on "Thinking High and Living Right." Mrs. Pearl Linde, Home Agent t Trainee, gave a short talk on 4-h work. All the mothers of these girls listed above were present. Oth er visitors were Alice Davis, El eanor Lane, Ann Calahan, and Marribelle Elliott. Mrs. Ranney received many lovely gifts. The mothers fur nished a delicious lunch.
