Schmitz pleaded guil ty by waiver to a charge of speeding and paid a fine of $16 and costs. ' Douglas D. Deraan was fined $5 and costs when arraigned in county court on a charge of fish ing without a permit. James P. Turk also paid a $5 fine for fish ing without a permit. Lena Griffis was fined $10 and costs in county court when arraigned on a charge of in toxication Wednesday. Rogert P. Anrews was fined $10 and costs in county court on a charge of speeding. John Fitch, Rock Bluff Native, Dies . John M. Fitch, native of Rock Bluff and a life lone resident of Cass countv died at his home in Plattsmouth Tuesday mornine:, Anril 20. following a three month illness. He vas 88 vears old. Born at West Rock Bluff, he was. a prominent farmer and stockman in the Nehawka com- ' munity for many years before ' coming to Plattsmouth. Fnn of Robert and Mary Lew is Fitch, he lived at Rock Bluff until 1897, when he moved to the Fitch farm north of Nehawka. He came to Plattsmouth in 1937. Born February 20. 18G6, he was married to Annetta Campbell on ! March 14. 1893. She died in 1923, and he ws married in 1943, to Ora Sell at Nebraska City. Mr. Fitch was baotized in the Christian church at Kenosha in Aueust. 1898. Survivlnsr are his wife, Ora of Plattsmouth. a son, Eugene Fitch ".of Nthawka; nine steo children. James and Carl Sell of Plattsmouth, Richard and Robert Sell of Louisville. Mel vin Sell of Milton Vale, Kansas; Mrs. Lova Bushnell of Mitchell. South Dakota. Mrs. Margaret Bressman of Bellevue, Eugene Sell of Salina, Kansas, and Lois Sell of Minneapolis, Minn. Also surviving are two broth ers, James and Robert H. of Plattsmouth; a sister, Mrs. Ger trude Riggs of Brewster; and three grandchildren. Mrs. Lottie Johnson and Elmer Fitch of Ne hawka; and Mrs. Josephine Yearsley of Dunbar; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, April 23, at two o'clock at Caldwell-Linder Funeral chapel with Rev. J. W. Taenzler and Rev. George Fran cis officiating. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home Thursday afternoon and eve ning from 4 to 6 and from 7 to 9. Burial will be at Lewiston cemetery south of Murray with Caldwell-Linder Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Half -Century Here Observed By Immigrant from Germany T Celebration of its centennial at Plattsmouth this year, can never mean more than the half century observance noted by a Plattsmouth lady Tuesday. She is Mrs. Josephine Ulrich, who Tuesday observed the 50th anniversary of her arrival at Plattsmouth from her native Germany. Recalling the wooden side walks. 15 cent a pound coffee and that the streets were un lighted when she arrived here on April 20, 1904. Mrs. Ulrich lived in the Mynard community for 35 years before purchasing! a house here and moving to Plattsmouth. She is quick to point out, "I like Plattsmouth", and she is proud of her connection with the community. Born in Germany, she came here from Bavaria, and was soon followed by a brother, JoseDh Dietl. now deceased; and a sis ter. Mrs. Jcsenh Bierl. Coming to Plattsmouth she worked for the Gering family for one vear before her mar riage to Eward Ulrich. They liv ed at Mynard until his death in 1936. Three years later she mov ed to Plattsmouth. At present she is making her home with a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Babcock. Other seven children are Mrs. Freda Fahr lander of Nebraska City; Carl Francis and Albert Ulrich of Plattsmouth, Mrs. Richard Liv ineston of Plattsmouth, Mrs. Helen Snvder of Jefferson la., Bernard Ulrich and Mrs. Doro thy Babcock of Omaha. She has 26 grandchildren. Chas. Marshall On Ag Group To Tour Africa Leaving in. mid-May for a two month agricultural tour of parts of Africa and the Near Fast will be Charles Marshall of Elmwood, nresident of the Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation. Marshall is on of four Amer icans selected as voting dele era tp nf nri i International Con ference of Farm Organizations. In Plattsmouth Tuesday, Mar shall explained that, he will leave New York City on May 12 to start the summer tour which will go to Nairobi, Kenya col ony, Africa. The group will also tour Rhodesia and the Union of South Africa. Marshall dined here Tuesday noon prior to receiving shots at Offutt Air Force Base in order to obtain a visa for the African tour. Of the four selected from the United States, Marshall is the only delegate from west of the Mississippi river. The group will study agriculture and farm or ganizations. Marshall is also planning ,to visit Jerusalem and other points of interest in the Near East be fore returning home. He expects to be gone two months. He had a number of speaking engagements prior to deoarting from New YorK on tne trip. Services Set Friday for John Engelkemeier .Tnhn "Rnffelkemeier. native of Nehawka and lifelong countv rpsident. died Tuesday. April 20, at Lincoln following a long ill ness. He was 68 years old. Son of Mr. and Mrs. -Fred En gelkemeier. he was born Janu ary 29, 1886, at Nehawka. He was confirmed and baptized a Christ Lutheran church west of Plattsmouth. Rnrvivinor are three brothers. Henry of Plattsmouth. Julius of North Hollvwood, Calif.. Georo of Loveland. Colo.; three sisters Mrs. Mary Raeroos of Brecken bridge, Okla., Mrs. Pauline Kra eser of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Mrs. Anna M. Kraeger of Platts mouth. Preceding him in death were his narents, a sister, Mrs. J. Or en Soelts, and a brother, August Engelkemeier. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon. Apirl 23. at 2:30 at Sattler Funeral Home with Rev. A. B. Lentz, pastor of the Christ. Lutheran rhnrch of ficiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery at Plattsmouth. Sattler. Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Arthur Meyer, Native of Avoca, Dies Monday Funeral services were held on Thursday for Mrs. Arthur M. Meyers, 42. who died Monday at Syracuse following a cerebral hemorrhage. The former Minnie Sudman. she was born February 26. 1912 at Avoca. the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kord Sudman. She was married February 7, 1934 to Ar thur Meyer. She was a member of North Branch church. Survivig are her husband, Ar thur: a daughter, Miss LaVonne Meyer of Lincoln; a son. Ron ald Meyer at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kord Sudman; three brothers, Fred of Wichita, Kansas; Herman of McPherson, Kans.; and Harvev of Syracuse and six sisters, Mrs. William Newham and Mrs. Richard Bick ford of Weepiner Water: Mrs Junior Schick and Mrs. Willard Hall of Elmwood.
